I thank you for explaing with detail the way you connect the wires and how you put everything in order, so many people just don't bother to explain that... your explanation gives confidence in trying a very small one. Your result is brilliant, literally brilliant and brilliant because it is marvellous!
I've spent ages researching so many techniques to do these. It's a minefield. There's so many different ways to do it but this is by far the best tutorial I've seen. Thoroughly recommended and nice job with your sign!
No problem at all! I couldn’t find any decent ones myself when trying to make this so was a lot of trial and error, and then decided to make my own tutorial so others didn’t have to do as I did!
Lol thank you thank you thank you soo much I literally just went your ig and tik tok video on this diy and happened to be scrolling TH-cam just now and I got soooooooo excited 😂
A hot tip with soldering (no pun intended). If you add solder to the bare wire and the contact of LEDs before joining the two, you'll end up with a much better solder join. This is called "tinning" and also makes inserting the wire much easier because the tinned wire will prevent any stray wires from a potential short.
I cannot believe how much incredible work you put into this. I love lights and playing with lights but you made me realize how lazy I am. Incredibly inspiring.
Wow! I never even imagined trying to DIY these neon lights, I've always seen them on amazon and have been wanting one forever. Definitely doing this soon. Honestly I have been so scared to touch any DIY projects featuring electronic components that require soldering because it's so intimidating. Seeing you do it here really has demystified it for me! Can't thank you enough.
Amazing tutorial!! I have been searching and searching. I have the same lights same thickness of acrylic and it’s just been sitting because I couldn’t find a tutorial to do it the way I was down it. Then I found you…thank you
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I've been searching for a DIY LED neon sign video for a while. Yours is the only thing that's super helpful and very comprehensive. Thank you so much! You're a genius!!!!!
This tutorial was amazing! It was so informative and easy to follow. Thank you so much 💓 My sister and I followed this to make a sign and we are so impressed by your ability to do this all by yourself. You are one talented human!
I love this! Just a bit hesitant on the soddering(sp?) , saw another video without one. I am so down to try this though! How long did this process take from start to finish?
Tbh I’m already 2 min in the video and this has been so informational then the past 7 videos I’ve previously watched. Here’s a like ❤️ thank you, can’t wait to finish the rest of the video
Just subscribed after looking at your channel and reading about your attributes to female empowerment. The work in this tutorial is none other than dedication. Very well ending result. Thank you for your showmanship.
Hi. Don`t mean to be rude or grumpy, but touching the soldering tin with the iron first, and then the wire is a common mistake, which causes future cold-joints. Consider making a simple holder, or at least use some flux ;)
Hi babe I have a question! Such a great video btw, thank you so much for your help. I'm just trying to figure out how the 12v lights are working on a 24v power supply? Do you have an adaptor or do you have them plugged into a 12v supply? Ive been researching for hours and i'm so confused haha.
Amazing! This is well made and definitely looks like you did your research! One suggestion I will say that will make your life way easier is to use heat shrink instead of electrical tape to cover those solder joints! Just slide the heat shrink on, then solder the wires and then move the heat shrink over the joint and then heat it with a lighter and it will shrink onto the wire. It’s a lot faster, cleaner and more durable than electrical tape as well! Great job!
love this tutorial, just wondering though. what if the section you need to go around is + or - the 2.5cm cut interval? You seemed to be very lucky with each part with the cut points. How did you manage that?
So you can cut the tubing at any point but don’t cut the electrical strip. If you cut the strip at the next cut point you can fold it back inside the tubing that’s cut shorter. Otherwise you can adapt your design slightly x
Hi Jasmine...Your Video is AMAZING and is saving me tuns of money to create signage....I have a questions...what's the longest length I can get this in...the site that you have posted gives the size, but doesn't mention the lengths...your thoughts
Length of rope? You can get them in 10m packs but you can just buy multiple packs so there isn’t really a maximum! With the acrylic, you may need to make it in sections, i think the longest I can get in the UK from a standard hardware store is 1.6m wide
Hello, I have tried to do it by my own but I’m struggling to make more than 2 cuts of led work, the rest of the other cuts are not working. If you can share me some advice, on my case the negative is a black cable and the positive is a red cable. I have a 12v withe the same adapter.
Have you tried swapping the wires around? Red should be on the side that’s the “bottom” and the black should be on the coloured light side. Also make sure that the inner metal if the wire has good contact with the pads in the rope, and be sure the two positive and negative, nor the solder that’s connecting them to the rope is touching as this can short out the light. If you check they work as you go, you can identify the problem pretty quickly x
Would it be possible to use 16 gauge speaker wire instead of 24 gauge speaker wire as the link to the wire you used doesn’t deliver to my country and what’s different between the different gauges of wire?
The higher the gauge the smaller the wire, I think! :) I made the mistake of ordering 12 gauge and it was really thick. It’s up to you, but the one I linked is thin and can be somewhat hidden as it’s clear. You don’t need that exact one, but 24 gauge is better I think esp if you can get it seethrough x
hi, unfortunately the company selling the light adapter have sold out of the component needed. Are there any alternatives that you suggest whilst they are out of stock
Id suggest proper colored electrical wire over speaker wire. Just a idea but use a colored poster board on the back and push wires thru the board will hide them and give ya more contrast.
A phone charger? Noo you cannot. Most phone chargers are 5V which will not turn the led’s on. The other thing is that a standard phone charger can usually only output 1 amp of current. Each Individual led in this strip draws 20mA roughly and if it’s an RGB led on white at full brightness it takes roughly 60mA per led because 3 leds are on at the same time to give you white: Red+blue+green=white (60mA=.060 Amps) So if you have 100 leds in your strip, then .060A*100=6 Amps of current! Far more than a phone charger can handle. I recommend only getting a suitable power supply like in the video with an adapter. You can use one like her or you can also use screw terminal adapters. Make 100% sure you buy the power supply with the correct Voltage! If you give it more than it’s rated for you will fry all of your leds and you will have a bad time redoing everything. Also depending on how many leds you have and how big your sign is depends on the amount of current you need your power supply to be able to provide. So In the example above, if you have 100 leds, they require 6A, and they are rated at 12V. You should buy a 12V, 10 Amp power supply as it’s always a good idea to give you some extra room. Having the incorrect voltage can ruin your leds, having the current higher than you need will do nothing. The leds will only draw as much current as they need. As she said though do not work on or solder them while they are on just as a precaution in case you short them out accidentally.
This is the only tutorial that doesn't leave you confused
Thank you
I’ve been watching DIY neon sign tutorials for years and I always end up really confused. This is by far THE BEST TUTORIAL on TH-cam! Love it
Thanks so much!
I totally agree
Finally, a DIY neon led tutorial that actually makes sense and is designed for the novice. Thank you so much!
I thank you for explaing with detail the way you connect the wires and how you put everything in order, so many people just don't bother to explain that... your explanation gives confidence in trying a very small one. My search for making led neon sign end with your tutorial.Big salute to female DIY
Im thinking black or dark smoked acrylic sheet might hide the wires better? Great video by the way.
Wanted to make a sign as a gift to my parents and needed a tutorial, this was absolutely PERFECT! Thank you!

One of the best results I’ve seen on here without using CNC or laser cutter. If you spray paint sheet first it will hide wires at back.
you Can also get white acrylic, but for this, they wanted a clear one, so used clear wire and hid them behind the lights :D
A hot tip with soldering (no pun intended). If you add solder to the bare wire and the contact of LEDs before joining the two, you'll end up with a much better solder join. This is called "tinning" and also makes inserting the wire much easier because the tinned wire will prevent any stray wires from a potential short.

Hi, did you find that LED was a good brand ? some you can see the individual LED's, i want it to be a solid look like proper neon :-) ?
Amazing work! Thanks from Pakistan!
I like the detail you tell to us. You are awesome. Thank a lots.
Hope your sign goes well!
Wow!! Because of your amazing video, I will now be attempting to make my own "Merry Christmas" sign in the near future. Thank you. Kind Regards.

I just showed my boss ... He said you made an amazing video. Thank you so much. I can't wait to see how mine turns out thanks to you!!!
Nice video. Where did you get the end caps? I can't seem to find any and unfortunately your link is broken. Thanks
Link should be fixed, they’re on amazon and eBay xx

Great tutorial. Well done! Seriously well explained.
What thickness was your acrylic sheet? Perhaps you mentioned in tbe video.
Many thanks!
The sheet linked in the description is 120 x 60 cm And 0.2 cm thick Hope this helps
Nice job. Rastebator is a great tip. Thank you. 🙏 I was wondering how I was going to get a 10 foot long template printed out. 🤔
this is great, thank you. do you think the end caps are necessary ? especially if i am using a drawing to turn into neon sign vs. lettering?
It does keep it looking neater, but if you want it waterproof; they’re needed x
do you think 16 guage wire would work? making a sign on a tight timescale thank you so much for this tutorial!
Did it work?
@@Awpenheimer no bestie the soldering took us out

Great work sis!
Wow ! Great job !
Great job!
Hey im from Germany, and the ebay seller wont ship to me. Do you know by any chance where i can buy these stripes?
This is great but I’m having such trouble soldering the wire to the LED strip…any tips?
Add a bit of solder to the wire first so there’s a blob on the end, then place ontop of the contact pad and use the iron to melt again x
Hiiii! Your video is so inspiring 😍 what do you use to file down your acrylic?
I used a tile file as it’s the only file I had haha x
Thank you very good info.
Very cool... looks GREAT!!!

For this sign, I used 10m x
hi, unfortunately the company selling the light adapter have sold out of the component needed. Are there any alternatives that you suggest whilst they are out of stock
sorry to bother you but is it possible to show the connection in more depth so that i can easil understand how to do it
Thanks
hello, a question, what kind of wire do you use to connect the led strips? I guess it's copper, but what thickness?
There’s a link to the one I used in the description but it’s 24 gauge speaker wire :) it’s copper and aluminium x
Hi! What font did you use on your “GARAGE” lettering?
It was lovelo line xx
Talented 👍🏽

Nice tutorial but the excess sunlight some part of the video made it difficult to see. Kindly please do another close up video for us❤
Hi Jasmine, the link for the Ac to dc power converter isn’t working ? Any chance you’d be able to point me in the right direction please. Thanks
Thanks for letting me know! I’ve updated the link - amzn.to/3pOHXzU x
wow super cool
What thickness of wire do you use? I can't figure it out from the Amazon description. I've been using a thicker one and it's making it impossible.
It’s 24 guage speaker wire xx
so you connect each piece of LED strip to the next with wire?
Id suggest proper colored electrical wire over speaker wire.
Just a idea but use a colored poster board on the back and push wires thru the board will hide them and give ya more contrast.
the point of using clear wire is so you dont see it.. There is nothing wrong with using speaker wire for this.
I tried... it's way too tough. Since proper electrical wire isn't as flexible. I eventually bought the speaker wire and made life 1,000 times easier
If you used coloured acrylic, you can use coloured wire as you can’t see it, but as I wanted clear acrylic, speaker wire was much more effective
Wow! nice
