dude just used all your methods in the video to practice when I get my new bearings in. haven't changed the stock Penny bearings and while doing this learned that the nuts were tightened hard. by following your video and giving some wiggle room, they roll much much better then before. Thank you 🙏
Thanks a bunch! Picked up some boarding while things are on lockdown here, and this video helped me replace the worst bearings I've seen in my life lmao. Literally couldn't perform a full wheel rotation with your hardest spin. New ones are super mint.
Yesterday I broke my ankle because while I was going down a ramp my wheel just came off and it rolled under my foot while I was running from the momentum and now I can't skate for a month.
My wheel fell off while I was going up a steep bank doing a 360 revert a few weeks ago. I fell right on my ass and I lost the bearing that came out of the wheel, plus the washers and the nut. Had to rip off all my wheels and put new bearings on all of them. I was lucky to have not gotten hurt at all.
Dude, you're just amazing. My roller skates were dirty af I don't have that fancy tool to take the bearings off, so I didn't know what to do. You've saved me here bro
This is the sort of thing I was hoping he’d say in the video: how to press the bearing in without pushing on the inner race. I already damaged one set of reds by pushing them on too hard only using the trucks for instal. THANK YOU!
No wonder walmart boards never roll fast. I say that after I heard about puddles or out in the rain lol. Oh btw I got OJ brand wheels and reds bearings for my custom cruiser board
You should be good from 50-54 or 55mm wheels. Worst case scenario (if you get 55-60mm) you’ll have to throw a 1/8inch riser pad on there and you’re good to go!
I have 54mm, skate extremely loose trucks, and am just breaking in New bushings so don't have any bushing washers on (which means even looser trucks than I'm used to). I finally started to get a bit of wheel bite so put on 1/8" risers today and actually love the height and how the pop feels. Had the best session I've had in a loooong time. I hope since you posted you've tried some bigger wheels and have continued to skate! 👍
Omg thank you I was putting them on on my own and they were super slow and I was like wtf then I watched this and did it this way and they arent slow anymore thank youu
Yeah the people who make fun of skaters for petty shit like which way your wheel graphic is facing, how you hold your board, etc. Are either 12 years old or they are they definition of a kook regardless of how good they are on the board. All that matters is that you have some park etiquette/respect for other skaters and if your having fun. All else is ridiculous ego stroking. I cared to much about what others thought as a kid and i never allowed myself to put in the dedication to learn the basics because i would be too embarrassed at the skatepark, so i would only like to skate alone or with friends. That is until starting back up later on as a adult and you realize how ridiculous it is to care about stuff like that and to allow it ruin your time at the park. Just skate for yourself and screw what others think. But i do recommend trying to avoid mongo lol
I was once bombing a hill. And my wheel come off. There was back in the mid 90s and I think I was using Cozmo inline skate wheels. As they felt faster. (I was like 14 I didn't know any better) but now they make wheels just like it in the tablet shape.
Everything matters, but if you're replacing piece by piece, usually the first thing I'd replace on a walmart board is wheels & bearings. Or if you can only afford one, just get wheels. Go get them at your local skateshop and they'll help you out!!
I installed new wheels but afterwards my trucks are obnoxiously squeaky for some reason. I see some videos of people pouring dish soap in their stuff but I don’t know, I’m scared I messed something up
Note to self guys don’t put the Allan key metal rim on the grey part of the bearing to push it in. I made the mistake and munted a bearing it won’t spin now great warning
was anyone else putting the wheel on the trunks and then hear him say "you want to put the wheel design on the inner side of or else you will be made fun of"..... no, just me lmaoo
I usually press them as deep as they'll go. Bronson makes the bearing saver skate tool, and it works really well because you can tighten your wheel bolts as tight as you want and it doesn't dent your shields.
@@ShredzShop I tried to push them but when I push one side the other gets out... the spacer is shaking inside... is that okay?! Oh no... my board is turning on his own... what shall I do ?!
@@Winter_B12 A bit late of a reply, so i guess that has already been fixed. The board turning on its own is caused by the truck bushings being too soft or the wheels being unevenly worn out. The bushings are most likely the problem and need to be replaced or refitted.

Kind of fkd up how judgmental a lot of skaters are but it’s only the fkin losers. There’s some cult mentality going on with how if you don’t do what everyone does you’re a poser or some sh.. Do whatever u want and have fun.
One size should be covered (on. most bearings) and one side should have the ball bearings showing, put the covered side facing out to eliminate dirt. Unless it's covered on both sides, then It doesn't matter.

Thank you so much for the tutorial! And for the bonus tips at the end, I have to admit I've been mall grabbing but I'll correct my mistakes lol
Don’t worry about mall grabbing if it’s comfortable for you 🙏
14mm socket works well for installing bearings also. Only press the bearing on the outer edge as pressing inside will damage the bearing.

I got my first skateboard. As a gift for my 9th or 10th birthday by my grandma. Im 17 now and havent changed fixed or tuned up anything once until now
I know it sounds dumb but I have 52 mm wheels, I’m scared that if I get a bigger size it won’t fit my skateboard, is that possible?
You should be good from 50-54 or 55mm wheels. Worst case scenario (if you get 55-60mm) you’ll have to throw a 1/8inch riser pad on there and you’re good to go!
I knew a guy who used 56mm wheels. He died.

Wait bearings come with spacers?
thank you so much for the tutorial, I was really confused about what I should do with the spacers!
Are bearing spacer really needed please reply brother?
Not mandatory, but they help stoping your bearings from being damaged, so I recommend them.

They’re a quick and cheap fix at least!

I think so, stops the bearing runbing against your trucks.

my bearings don’t have a hollow or empty side how do I figure out what side to go on the inside of the wheel?
You should be able to do either, unless it’s marked to put one side out

How much bearings in each wheel?
