Borrowed one from a friend after wife had a knee replacement. Definitely made the recovery time a lot shorter. Our ice machine got a workout. Would recommend…
Awesome product! The only downfall- the warranty is only good for 180 days. I had a total left knee replacement last November 2022. Put it in the box and stored the unit in the closet after 3 months use.I had a knee replacement November 13, 2023. I’m in the hospital as I write this.I took the box out the Friday before and the machine did not work. I was out around $250. Had to purchase a different machine. Basically it’s only good for a few months . I’m not complaining it was the best $250 I ever spent for myself. No kidding! It really helps.
The NEHOO ice therapy machine is only $160, works wonderfully, and has a pad that can be used for knee, hip or shoulder. I put 3 frozen bottles of water in the cooler instead of ice. My husband had a knee replacement 2 weeks ago and is already getting around easily with a cane. He used pain meds only the first 3 days.
Question, my machine that works my knee up and down, Do I need to take my ace bandage off when using it? My knee is bruised more now than day of surgery.. All the way up the back of my leg as well but not as dark.. I didn’t know if when my knee goes up if it’s tightening the bandage causing more bruises.. Thanks for any information to help,, I have therapy tomorrow for the first time and Tuesday will be one week after surgery..
Hi Dr Smith, I’m wondering if I will need one with a compression function too-or just the ice machine? I’ve been in touch with polar and they will ship to the UK (cost) I’ll just need to use an adaptor 😊 🥰🏴🇬🇧
The larger pad you are using does not fit totally around my knee. I can only imagine what will happen when I have surgery and it's really swollen. I called them and they said to use an ace bandage to help wrap it around my knee. Does the entire knee need to be enclosed? I'm out of options, I'll have to use ice packs too I guess. Bummer.
I just had a total knee replacement and you are right about the one that goes around the knee,, I don’t think it’s helping at all in fact I’ve went to zip lock bags with ice in them.. Thanks for the video.

How about using some common sense. Lay the machine and the hoses outside in the sun so everything can dry out. You can also use a hairdryer on low setting or cool to dry out the hoses. Also use distilled water in the machine.

Aw bummer. I’ve heard both sides. Some people say it was a life saver and some say ice packs were just fine. It’s good to have both options if you can.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS SPLURGE on the VERY BEST AND LARGEST water circulation pads. Nearly all brands of cold therapy pumps include the absolute crummiest supplies, so order the IMPROVED VERSIONS that are SPECIFIC to your brand.. USE YOUR MACHINES 20 MINUTES ON 20 MINITES OFF AND *****WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOTNOT NOT WAIT FOR YOUR NERVE BLOCK TO WEAR OFF BEFORE TAKING THE FORST DOSE OF PAIN MEDS. YOU WANT TO HEAD THE PAIN OFF AT THE PASS SO THAT THE PAIN WILL BE WELL UNDER CONTROL. The ice therapy machines make the difference between night and day. There is nothing more pain relieving than using cryotherapy pump devices in combination with post op meds. Often by day 3, drugs are no longer needed.
I was a member of your FB group. Had to remove myself as it was creating so much anxiety for me. Too much negativity, excruciating pain discussions, “wishing I never would have done it” comments. Not much positivity or encouragement. Proceed with caution!
I understand what you’re saying. I’m 6 weeks post op and I watch many TH-cam videos as I recover. It seems I’m ahead of most folks on range of motion and progress in general. I too have noticed most commenters are negative. I think that’s normal. It does not indicate most TKRs are a mistake, rather people who are struggling tend to share that more often. Hang in there and keep working. I DO believe in the “no pain no gain” philosophy but within reason of course! Most people I had consulted before my operation were very happy they did it. That’s why I chose to do it. Good day, and Merry Christmas!
@ I had my TKR 5 wks ago. Was at 90 bend on day 2, at 120-130 bend at 4 wks. I had pain but nothing the meds didn’t take care of. I iced, elevated and did the exercises (semi-religiously). I was lucky to have my daughter, sister or my brother stay with me for the first 10 days post op. I’m not athletic(altho I was up until my 60s), chunky(took me 2 yrs to lose the required 60 lbs) 73 yr old. I look forward to seeing my ortho dr on Tuesday to get scheduled for the other knee. In fact I asked him the day after surgery when I could do the other one!

❤❤❤❤❤
Can you put a knee compression sleeve under the ice machine pad?
I don’t see why not!
Great, thanks. Do you think a barrier is necessary between pad and skin? If do, what to use?
Yes! Pillow case.
Do I need to put a towel on my knee first before I put the pad on?
Yes definitely.
Can you al also use the blue ice packs instead.
The colder, the better? Is this really true?

What are full size water bottles? How about reading the label and telling us the ounces or liters so we get the correct size.
The ones that are 16.7 ounces
I used the 16.7 Oz bottles, 4 fit in the machine and kept another 4 in the freezer and just swapped them out.
Do you have any suggestions for how to prevent mildew from forming in the machine tube and pad? I have the machine from a previous surgery and brought it out in anticipation of another knee surgery and it clearly has mildew in the pad and I’m sure in the tubing, too. Thanks for any suggestions.

@@Gigantortacoma4x4the hoses are sealed so they don’t air out. There is actually no way for them to fully air dry according to the manufacturer.
How often do the frozen water bottles last before you need to replace them?
I think 1-2x a day. Depends how many you keep in the machine
Just ordered using your discount code, thanks for all your helpful vids.
Awesome! Thank you!
Got mine , all ready for surgery!
How often do you have to swap the water bottles out?
Usually once a day.
How long at a time , approximately, do you keep the ice machine on?
20 minutes is good!
The model I have allows you to set how long it circulates the water. For me I found 30 on 30 off worked best.

You said don’t sleep with the pad on, isn’t that the purpose of the timer?
Yes, that would be a good idea to set the timer at night time. Some people leave it on all night and that’s not good
Sorry, so it is good leaving it on at night, with the timer?…
Where exactly should we put the ice around knee? Or on the top of knee , is it possible to put it on the knee after 3 weeks of TKR ?
