I will agree with the final verdict: Aced it then replace it with a Spitfire or the Mustang and let it collect dust on the hangar because its just a museum piece!!!
I can see this being moved to 2.7 - agree completely with your assessment. One small addendum to tactics - coz of its shite climb rate I find it easier to wait for a furball to develop and BNZ. I use the early match to set myself up for when enemies drop.

Unpopular opinion, but after my first flyout (stock) in air RB, I have to say that the plane doesn't fly that terribly with the stock gun loadout -- perhaps the key to maintaining better aerobatic performance out of this is to keep the weight down by sticking to the smaller guns? The 13mm IAI rounds are essentially equivalent to the Italian 12.7mm HEI that got a big buff with Winged Lions, so while yes you won't be able to kill things as fast as you might with the 20mm cannons, the stock firepower is essentially on par with the C.205 series 1 (also at BR 3.3), which isn't *awful*. I figured that this might be the case given that Bf109s (of which the S-199 is using a modified airframe) also don't like being loaded up with extra weight, especially the 20mm cannon gunpods (which the cannon loadout of the S-199 uses to mount them). The 109s are infinitely better (aerobatically speaking) without gunpods, and I figured that that would also be the case with the S-199 and the 20mm cannon option...
I've noticed that this thing can pull off one or maybe two nippy turns at around 400 IAS. That's all your good turn ration for a single battle. It's uber ass though.
I use this trick with breaks on this bucket, separate breaks on left and right one, and use only one , when around 50 km/h go for (Tokijo) drift with rudder and one break , do not use both you will flip over nose eaven going 20km/h with usage of both breaks, if you have a varijable force pedals you can trie using 50% of breaking force. But frenckly just avoid this bucket it is mostly pain and suffer , Spitfire's after this (stuff pig) are Like angels to fly 😁
Realistically helping us experience what it must have been like for them in those early days. Really nice they didn't just over inflate the stats, but that don't mean you can't do well in it, which I guess would probably be more important to someone with ties to that country. It is incredible they even did anything with these planes.

Started flying this over the past few days. Most planes are a a serious of trade offs. Manueverability vs speed, for instance. This plane is all downsides with no upside.
Well at the very least the crap performance is faithful to the reality of the actual aircraft; unfortunately this is a multiplayer video game and naturally choosing vehicles with actual competitive performance will always be "the meta," I guess. Unless a group of people are crazy enough to create historical matchups or summin for fun I dunno It's almost like sticking a BOMBER engine inside a FIGHTER airframe is a terrible idea, but the Czechs had no other options except to just not build these airplanes. I still think the S199 deserves appreciation for the role it played in that snapshot of history
It lands similarly to the Fw 190C. Aggressive brakes with a very nose-heavy aircraft make for...interesting landings. Only that the 190C has such an absurd amount of idle torque that in order to stop in any acceptable amount of time, you need to turn off the engine on touchdown.
just watching this video while sideclimbing this feeble pos into battle. 6:00 this sums up the s199 experience. When you DO manage to outplay someone, multiple members of your team absolutely SWARM to steal your kill. . . and for the other 99.5% of the time, they are nowhere to be found when you need them to help you clear your six. This is making grinding for the D20 absolutely impossible, and I guarantee Gaijin did this intentionally to push people into buying better performing premiums

Love the looks and history of this plane. Unfortunately it really flies so bad, that it probably is the worst fighter in the game. Yet still like the way it looks.
I would recommend to bellyland this plane, since the increase in repair time is way shorter than the increased landing time on gears. Great video Tim. Bad plane^^
I test flight the S-199 yesterday and in terms of speed its basically a 109 F-1 BUT with 250kg bombs, this thing is best with MEC but not everyone do MEC, this thing is basically overtiered
I've found the guns on this to be a huge advantage as they are really accurate and can also eat bombers in PvE. Good for grinding crews for Israel in that mode, not great otherwise. This and stealth bombing with the B17G, but then again Spitfires are just not my cup of tea. If someone likes them, then this plane is probably pointless for them. I have all the Rank IV-s in their own crew slots and i didn't progress much with the crews i assigned for the Spitfires so far as i don't enjoy flying them, don't even have Expert crews on any of the Spitfires.

Nothing is shittier than my one match where ALL THREE of my kills were stolen, one by a guy who flew over 10km to where I was shredding a bomber with one 7.62mm and one 12mm(.50 cal) happened so long ago but I'm still salty about it.
So I flown this plane quite a bit and more than any other plane in war thunder I A. Hate it and B. Will randomly get 5-6kills in a game for what seems like no reason. It sucks but why do I do well in it?
I just go high to 4500m, shoot down bombers and the ones who climb to engage me, when u unlock the 20mm cannon use tracers in mg and cannon, i found em to do the trick
Side climb, boom n zoom, and head on if all else fails, 20mm mg 151s with minengeshoB rounds are insanely effective in head ons, I generally dislike the aircraft but In the 4 battles I’ve had I’ve only died once (due to picking my battles [dooooo NOT fight if it is not 100% in your favour]) and 6 of my 10 kills are from head ons.
I've really tried with this plane, but its just so heavy and slow.. which is a weird thing for me to complain about because I love flying the less popular planes.
about overheating , it's manageable. just fix your manual engine control, use a key to auto toggle radiator. as soon as you turn auto radiator off, it opens radiator to 50% and you can wep forever... however , it hits your performance... but you can switch accordingly. i tried the plane without operating that way and it was overheating crazy... then i went and tried what i said in test flight and worked. At least you won't die alone from overheating in that trashcan !! Other than that, the playstyle seems legit... support fighter, don't really try to act alone... clear someone's six is better for you and the game.
I don't know what happened to me, but I liked it, I think it's a great plane. I played with it for around 10 games and it went great, 8 wins, 13 kills and 7 deaths
Israel needs to get as many variants as possible of its vehicles. It operated not that many types so its tech tree will be small, and making lineups may be difficult

I hated this plane, soooooooooo much. I'm 90% sure it should be 2.7 at most, only thing it has going for it is it's looks and those 20mm cannons.
