Just got a itty bitty SRD from my place of work. First time I saw one,I was a hater. Saw a few in person and couldn’t deny that personality and aggression! Can’t wait to see him grow
SRDs are generally less in-bred than Kamfas and thus genetically healthier with longer lifespan. SRDs also tend to have the largest koks on average (a title previously held my Kamfas way back in the day, but SRDs as a gene pool have largely overtaken in the nuchal hump department). Also, for whatever reason, people tend to be drawn by red coloration more than any other color (yellow, blue, orange, pink, etc.), and SRDs obviously have the most deep red coloration (monkey face, faders, etc have a bright orange coloration... not red). SRDs are my favorite, but the only thing I wish SRDs had more of are more pearling and blocky body shape that the Kamfas have. Every now and then you'll see "King SRD" or something along those lines that are SRD x KK (King Kamfas) that fit the bill. That's what I have.
Agreed SRD's are a bit easier to groom than other types of Flowerhorns, but in fact the main reason why there are more on the market is simply because of the fact that it's easier to produce decent quality specimens of them compared to say Kamfa Flowerhorn, which are harder to breed. Many people also like SRD's because they get bigger humps than other types of FH. However, there is absolutely no difference in required water parameters for any kind of Flowerhorn -- they ALL need somewhat higher PH, warm water and regular (weekly is best) water changes.
Palmer thanks for using both of my flower horns in your video, it is a crazy obsession once you’ve kept one and groomed them well (what its owners thinks is a show pieces) you just want to keep getting more and more I currently have 8 flower horns including the Thai silk in the video the red and another Thai silk. thanks and keep shooting your awesome videos.
Absolutely love my srd! & i was anti hybrid lunatic! Then I met a flowerhorn! Next will be a Thai silk in my collection I'm also searching for a proper trimac to raise
So the obvious question that you’ve been asked 1k times but you might have more of an opinion now...I just bought a pretty small red dragon like 2.5”.....what would be the best one fish tankmate to raise him with?! I have another tank with a chocolate, synspilum, 2 geos and 2 Severum so none of those! Would love a Texas Cichlid if that will work, I had one but freaked out when she showed her breed dress and traded her in....anyways love the channel bro!
Oscar fish is the smartest Cichlid out of all hands down but the red dragon flowerhorn I find to be just as almost as intelligent than Oscars and 🤗 But I love my Red dragon flowerhorn 😎 My baby red dragon was the boss now the baby Oscar is the boss.I find the red Dragon the best most pure and less disease complications due to mix breeding 🤦♂️ but this is a beautiful and intriguing 🐠 Fish 🐟
