Just had Rolex at the end of my high school playoff game. Other team up 1. We had 1 timeout left with 1:15 left. All they had to do was kneel. We let them score. They go for 2. We stop them so they are up by 7. They kick to us and we take the kick back for a TD. We go for 2 and get it now we’re up 1 with 1:00 left. They throw a INT on second down and we kneel it out. They had the game won and lost it by scoring.
I remember coach saying years ago that Buddy Ryan's 46 Defense effectively eliminated the Fullback from the NFL. And I understood what he was saying but then a couple of years later we all saw the Patriots run to a championship behind fullback Devlin. And it's like "Huh?" And I had to wonder if, because no one was running out of two back sets if after awhile no one really had the rosters to play the 46 Defense effectively anymore. Or was it just a combination of Devlin, Gronk, and Trent Brown's play in that 2018 season was just so otherworldly that they did the impossible. But it's fun to watch the cycles flip and flip back over the years.
The more I watch this, the more incredulous I am that nobody grabbed him for head coach. Welp, he's going back to NYG next year and I'll hate myself even more...

Its not a resurrection so much as an evolutionary adaptation. The current go-to defense is the 2 high safety look. Basically Tampa 2. Tampa 2 had one hole: Gap. Zone Runs work excellent against the 2 high because you always have on more blocker than pursuers. NFL coordinators are the best, period. They noticed that trend and now theyre exploiting it. Its not a resurgence, its an adjustment based on trends.
