JD Does lot of the heavy lifting and teaches me lots while we work

The hardware i build to close the doors will be replace over time as i refine and re design the closures. The doors will also get fully insulated before the winter sets in!!

Big thank you to JD from APEX welding, Couldn't have done this with out his experience and wealth of knowledge!
the doors will get insulation from inside in due time! thank you brother!
You need to make a "What's the Password" Slot in the man door. Other than that it's an awesome door.
Your gunna want to check out, @doorsrus512 on instagram
When I saw the gaps between those boards all I could think of was drafts come winter time.
Paul Frederick I used to wonder about the gaps like you, until I caught an arrow in the knee. and then read the video description.
Well done!
You sir are a jack of all trades. Just like my Dad was. RIP Pops. Just in all of that shop you've built.
Plus you have so cool toys. Keep up these great videos. I watch just so I know tools. Bc God knows I sure the HELL wouldn't even try to do some of the stuff that you do.
Chris from Missouri
Jimmy Diresta this was a great build. My grandson and I really enjoyed watching the barn doors being fabricated.
Again, I'd like to thank you for the Ice Pick, the " if it looks straight " poster and his favorite of all time, the I Make postcard that you autographed for him. I cant thank you enough sir and I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day.
It's impressive that the angle frames were completely rigid enough without any kind of sag bracing. Nice welding job and I really dug the heavy duty pin-hinges. Hard core!
As a locksmith.......I loved watching the building of the locks....Awesome !!!
My son just asked me if I'm going to make doors for my shop, I guess I have to now that Jimmy and JD showed me how! Great build guys, I love the comradery built by working together...
I love the "Keystone Cops " speed.... Every time I see another finished part of the Maker Mansion completed it makes me very happy for you my brother and I feel the knowledge that will be pulsing from it will help the world of Creators. The pilot light is BLAZING !!!!!! Stay well my brother
Every time he uses that speed mode it reminds me of Benny Hill.
Amazing video skills!!!!
Hey Jimmy I am endlessly impressed at your ability to get old stuff to look just right where you put it. In my minds eye I had thought you'd plane, sand and finish those boards but once everything was done I could see why you did what you did. It looks at home.
Bravo for not going with yet another lousy roll-up door! beautiful work as always.
That shop is awesome, whoever built it really takes pride in their work.
I've got a thing for hand made door handles and latches. Matthias has a good video of some in his family cabins. Love it.
I very much enjoy watching your videos.
They encourage me to build things on my own.
I have become quite the carpenter watching you jimmy!
I love this project. With everything except for the dead bolt, this could have been made in the midevil days. Simply awesome.
I smile to see how happy you are working with all your toys.
I came for the barn doors, and stayed for the latch system :) I love watching you engineer mechanisms like that latch and lock. And that last scene of you opening it up and the bright light shining in, is what I think it will feel like when you first arrive to the DiResta workshop! Nice work Brother!! 👍🏼
Eyeballing every step of the way, without a blueprint or even sketch in sight or as my CT Yankee boss would say 'Kentucky Windage'
WOW, The doors are great! The locks and deadbolts are just Amazing Jimmy!! Thanks. Be Safe!!
These music adds a very dramatic touch to your movies and the building process. I like it.
Everything about your locking mechanism was amazing. Only thing that put me off was all the cracks in the doors. With you living up in NY I’d think you would want to tongue and groove those boards. Aside from that absolutely amazing stuff. Love your videos
Beyond good, on the doors and the hardware. Wicked clever as New Englanders say. Thanks for the video.
Now those are only about a tenth of a percent away from being considered the pearly gates to heaven. Beautiful work as usual my friend.
I know people talk up lithium grease but I've used copper paste for years in the worst environments (like on brake pads) and the stuff never fails. Years of sleet and snow, hot and cold and parts come apart like they were put on yesterday. Plus I love the color. Mmmm copper.
I know I should be used to it by now, but your brilliance always surprises me.
Great job Jimmy, JD, and Brett. You should be proud of this.
Cool doors. Like the clever locking mechanisms. Like the music goin on in the video. The doors if not beefy enough can always be upgraded later. The shop is awesome. I love it.
Yet another awesome video on the construction of the maker temple. However, as long as it's been without siding, I'm thinking you should have installed the zip boards on their side. You could have just used a clearcoat sealer, and claimed they were giant-sized, earth-friendly, (read: green) bricks 😁.
Thanks for sharing the process with us Jimmy!
Awesome job JD and Jimmy! Love the shot of JD rockin' out while burning rod at 8:41. :)
Jimmy, once again you've inspired me on many levels: metal working, reclaimed wood, framing, welding, hinges, locks and oh so much more. Thanks for taking the time to capture it, edit it and share it! Cheers!
The shot of you at the end opening the doors, was really well done. Congrats. It's looking amazing.
As simple as the mechanisms were they still impressed me. Grey Job Jimmy!!! Looks great!
So awesome, love the Ingenuity of the locking system!
Loved the locking mechanisms. Everything looks built to last a lifetime.
Jimmy is has to be a great kick working with other Masters of the Trades??? I sure enjoy the shop build projects, thanks for taking us along, w.w..
Джимми вы мой кумир. Мастерская просто супер. То что вы делаете великолепно. Жаль я никогда не смогу встретится с вами. А так бы этого хотелось. Встреча с кумиром.
I wouldn't have done the hinges like that.... but that's the great thing about TH-cam, I get to see things that I wouldn't have done, get done and work great! Thanks Jimmy.
Of course the other great thing about TH-cam is seeing Brett in the background and going "Hey I know that guy!".
Строительный рай, все есть в сша. Как мастеру там легче, но в СССР настоящие Кулибины. Джими вы супер.
That must be so emotional finally got doors in your great workshop! And you made themself! Congratulation Jimmy :)
That's the most enjoyable video of yours I've ever seen. The clever opening mechanisms, the carefully chosen music, the gigantism of the project, the smiles on your faces... Thank you!
Those hand made mechanisms! 😍 Absolutely love the simplicity behind it. Amazing how quick you get something working if you don't have to worry about the wear, maintenance or serviceable parts... If it breaks, there's just another opportunity to create it again. Very well done Jimmy! Love the large projects you are doing these days.
Can't wait for the canoe video!
Eres un chingón!!!!!!...me quitó el sombrero.....!!!!!......😎..You... jefe ....boss....saludos desde Morelos México......
Those doors and hand made hardware are sweet. They really fit your style Jimmy.....
these are my favorite barn doors ever...from the materials to the hinges to the locks. Everything is awesome. Love it Jimmy!
i'm shocked by how you continue to amaze us with your crafting skills! those locking mechanism are insane!! You're the biggest inspiration for all of us makers! Thx Jimmy!
Bravo! Always something very satisfying about barn door building! And I’m glad someone still stick welds every now and then.
Very impressive work. NICELY DONE.
Simple yet smart and with an elegant locking mechanism. Super functional approach - love it.
Very nice work. The door in door reminds me of an old shop from the nineteen teens or twenties. I love it.
The inside of that building is majestic. So inspiring. xo
Jim, even a rifle barrel will bend when left hanging under end to end tension for long periods of time. For doors that size and weight, it might be a good idea to put a corner to corner diagonal steel strap across each door. Just a suggestion. The doors look nice.
not a great build sorry.
Agreed
Agreed, a bit sloppy with the woodwork., Latches and fittings are interesting but let down by the woodwork.
Took a while but i knew someone would have beaten me to it ...
Agreed. It's quite sloppy, although diresta is not about accuracy though. he is a "let's get it done quick for ok quality" guy.
That place is badass! Diresta is honestly a genius
That was brilliant - I could not think of those tricky mechanisms in a million years
Fantastic! You’ve taught me plenty there that I will attempt on a much smaller scale. Thanks chaps.
Another great video, thank you. Those Fireball squares are a revelation for fabrication.
Absolutely love those final shots of the Maker Church
I would be watching you work for hours and hours. Thank you teacher. Max
I love how you include when JD is giving you tips! We never stop learning!!
the fabrication of the hardware is fantastic
Dude, that’s going to be a sweet shop when it’s all done. I don’t normally like the look of aged boards, but that looks good.
I love the barn doors, they look great. The only problem I see with them is if you have a strong wind blowing towards the doors during a rainstorm Waters going to come in. You might want to think about making lap joints or possibly TNG to make it a little more watertight.
Awesome! Can't believe you all accomplished this huge project so (what appears to be) quickly.....and can't believe how brave you men are to weld with beards!!!!! Congrats.
Jimmy, you and JD did a phenomenal job on the doors! 👍👍👊👊 .... great work on the locks/latches too, and really cool shot at the end with the doors opening!
First time I see wood being welded and it looks great!
When I grow up I want a shop like that. Holy wow!!
Epic build, the barn door swing >> last seen over 100 years ago
It's gratifying to see your dream shop coming together. You deserve it, bro.
I love this workshop and the incredible gate. Best Greetings from the Hunsrück Highlands Germany
Jimmy is the king of makers.
Love the hinges and the latches. Great video Jimmy
Gorgeous set of doors Jim.... isn't that ironic Jimmy building The Doors.. I'll see if any of you old guys get that :-)
I love your style Jimmy. Westernish music with some huge barn doors.
Every cathedral needs large doors. Nice work.
What a huge and beautiful Maker Space. Those doors! Oh guy mosh! Those doors! Great job! My lady is going to finance a small maker space/barn for me. I'd be happy with a cement slab and maybe a roof. working on machines in the wet grass is not fun. Wood working in a drafty barn with only one electric outlet isn't much fun either. Getting things done though, is satisfying.
When Jimmy opened the finished doors, it was strangely inspiring
That's a real shop! Way to go, Jimmy!
Hi Jimmy. The different gates and closing mechanisms. I think that in large air curtains, steel balls and a little grease will be superfluous.
The constant sound of chain sawing and metal clanging soothed the edges of my soul
I can feel the atmosphere that this shop has😉👌👌👌 Great Job on both the doors and the shop
Thank you for sharing so many of your projects and adventures with us! It really helps motivate me, to keep getting out in the shop.
I'm digging all the latch mechanisms! The doors kick ass too!
Be sure to Lithium grease the ever-loving-s!*# on all of those metal-metal contact points. That's an awesome build! :)
Those are some big doors the hand build nature works well with the style and theme good job jimmy.
Awesome build Jimmy! I'm blown away at how simple you make things look. My girlfriend, however, has a concern. Since she loves her silver fox she wants you to next time use a ladder when grinding the welds instead of using that apple box.
Wow one of your very best videos ever in my opinion!! Functional and what you needed.......
Having a type "A" personality, I love the project videos sped up. Plus the ingenuity of creating the locking mechanisms including the metal lathe. Gosh, my man, you got all the right tools. Ps. Love the swing.
Fist bump for perfect fit! Nice hardware, I can see you're having fun with that new lathe. On hinges: maybe try drilling and tapping a zerk fitting in them so they can be greased periodically.
The door mechanism's pretty clever. Nice work.
congratulation, in my country when the doors are done the built is done. great skill's. Respect to all hard worker's in the world
Neat! Very much liked your robust hinge design. Congrats on less drafty environs.
G-day from Perth Western Australia the new shop is looking pretty good Jimmy those doors look awesome love watching your videos
Sweet! I wouldn't expect anything less from the two of you.
Everyone seems to like to put in their tuppence worth! Nice video, entertaining, enjoyed it. It's great making big stuff! I liked the rotating mechanism throwing bolts up and down. High fives all round!

Doors are pretty but the barn will be cold in winter. I would love to see you build a big rocket stove that will be able to heat the whole barn, diresta styla. I am also aware that filling the blanks of the door will not cut the cold and draft. All the best.
Bro!!! You kill everything you touch! Everything you build blows my mind! I need to sign up for one of your workshops just to try to soak up your knowledge!! Love it man!!
wow. one of the best things about this is the sounds echoing from the mechanism at the end. Incredible!
You probably couldn't get me off the swing to help...
Nice job Jimmy & JD.
That large locking mechanism is killer!
Great looking set of doors. Like that you made your own sort of locking mechanism.
Not hard to see that you and JD made a really great job of those doors. Love the mechanisms you've got going on as latches etc - Nice one Jimmy :)

I build interior and exterior doors for a living and those are BIG and awesome, from the lock and the double latch lock mechanism. WOW,
Man those locking mechanisms were the coolest.
Great job, I enjoyed the way you tied so many different aspects that are involved in making a good set of doors. Thanks for another great video.
