Is it just me or does any one else want to see Jimmy and Adam Savage do a one day build over on tested? Also nice project and I love the brass hardware
I fear it would precipitate an apocalyptic extinction event. Jimmy: (without saying a word) "Check out these sweet ass brass drawer pulls that are the perfect finishing touch to this project." POW! zzzt zzzt Adam: "So I've gotta tell you about these drawer pulls... about 7 years ago I was on the set of this and that production and I ran into a guy who had these really interesting brass handled chisels. I asked him where he got them and he tells me about his uncle who is a brass worker in Milan and if I ever need any custom brass work he can hook me up. So on this project I an trying to decide on the perfect drawer pull when out of the blue I remember from years back that guy on this and that production whose uncle is a brass worker in Milan, only I don't remember the guys name. Well the set director over at this and that production is a friend of the guy who..."
Grandpa always said " Ya got two eyes, two ears and one mouth, use them in proportion". I love how your videos exercise that. Any questions that I have, I re-wind and watch again and again and I learn from you huge. I have said it before and I will say it again, watching you is like being in my grandfather's shop when I was 12 years old. And I'm 54 now. Thanks!
Yea, well, if I had access to al off those nice tools Jimmy's using, then.... Well, I'd still make crappy stuff probably. I'm really good at watching videos though.
I'm always impressed by the way you think about things with such efficiency, like the way you were cutting the recesses in the drawer fronts by passing them through the saw in a row and then the little template you made up for the handles..
That is super cool. This was not a weekend project. This took you some time and it shows. That has to be the nicest set of drawers for a shop. Love it! Douglas
That is one of my favorites. I need more enclosed storage, I want to be able to leaf blow my garage out and if I could put all my tools and small items away there would be far fewer nooks and crannies to hold the dust. Awesome job as always Jimmy!
Just watched damn near every one of your videos, excellent work brother! People see the short and sweet videos and don't realize what it actually takes to do this stuff. The sweat, the blood, the time away from loved ones, etc. Not to mention how hard it must be to film, work, edit, etc. as one person. Appreciate all the work you put into your videos and projects buddy!
+Jon Gordon Lmao. I was thinking the same thing. I've learned that throwing together a jig for stuff is great. Even for small jobs. If I can make a jig, or do multiple cuts at once to make things go quicker, I'm all about it.
You sir get the prize for super work. I love watching a master craftsman do his thing. Thanks for posting this, just to prove to the world that some people still do it right, and care about the quality of the product they produce.
Hello mr diresta i am going through some rough times right now and for the past few weeks i have watched your videos multiple times each i love how you can randomly produce beauty
Truly beautiful piece of carpentry. Your grandchildren will be fighting over who gets it I think, never mind your kids ! Please carry on so those of us less able can learn how to do stuff like this. Thanks for sharing your skills with me.
+Seans Workspace I agree. The jig for the brass card holders is so obvious when you see it. Makes everything aligned. That wasn't obvious to me until I saw it. Did you spot the error? Bottom draws have extra rebates where they aren't needed.
+jimmydiresta You're welcome. It's a cool project. On the jig front, that was really smart. Simple. Gives very neat results. How about a set of tips on jigs? You've got several in this video. You've the simple clamp as a stop. The drilling jig. Lots of possibilities with routers and jigs.
Skills and tools would not prevent me from making such a beautiful cabinet. My patients to do the exact same thing over and over and over again would do me in. Looks great Jimmy. Thank you.
Watching you work reminds me of a Mark Twain quote: Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection. I would have taken months to build that, LOL. Great work Jimmy!
This just came up in my feed, and I'm surprised by how nice it is to see one of your older videos once in a while! It gives a nice perspective on your career and how you haven't gotten to where you are now without a whole lot of work!
I only discovered your channel about 2 months ago. I have really enjoyed going through your content and am blown away by the sheer range of your skills as much as the quality of the end work. It is genuinely inspiration. Thanks.
Agreed (though Jimmy's looks nicer). Libraries the world over are tossing and CraigsListing these cabinets by the thousands these days. Today your average library looks more like a server farm than a library of olde.
+Jeff Pritchard Seriously? They are?! I need to hit up Craigslist then... I need one of these desperately for my garage. Hell, two if they're cheap enough...
Thanks for the inspiration Jimmy. I'm re-doing my wood shop from top to bottom and I'm planning LOTS of drawers of all different sizes. I absolutely love this project - Gave me great ideas to incorporate into my designs. Thanks again!
Gracias por tan inspirador trabajo, tus videos los comparto con mis pequeños hijos y de verdad nos inspiras, desde Santiago de Chile te enviamos nuestros respetos y si vienes por esta parte del mundo nuestra casa es tu casa.
I wonder that too. At one time Jimmy was talking about the Casey Neistat system which could prove interesting if the drawers are fully interchangeable.
I’m honestly not quite sure how I ended up here, but I’m so glad I did... I have always wanted a cabinet of a thousand drawers so I am a little envious, but so so much work! Absolutely worth it though, beautiful.
Wow, that's all I can say is WOW. Not only to you have some mad woodworking skills and patients, you seem to have the TH-cam skills to boot. Thanks for the post. Great.
I would normally only allow storage in my workshop to be made from steel but I'd be happy to have something that well made in wood. Very nice work mate.
really well thought out build. just wish he'd of taken the time to line up the grain on all the fronts. woulda just taken a little bit of labeling to keep em straight since he cut em all out of same board and the sizes cut were all grouped. It's the little things like that that don't take much effort but put projects over the top for me.
I'm learning so much, so quickly, so creatively, so entertainingly (no auto-correct, must be a word) , ... feel like I'm jacked into the matrix. Thanks Jimmy.
InnaSoulSounds You saw how close his fingers were to that roundover bit? Jimmy doesn't use protection; he has "DIRESTA" DiRectly tattooed onto his penis.
Hardware store clerk elbows a fellow employee as Jimmy Diresta walks in. Jimmy- "Hey guys I'm here to get two gallons of wood glue." One employee shouts "Yesssss!" The other one looks disappointed, pulls $5 out of his wallet and hands it to the happy guy who starts ringing up the sale and says, "Sorry Mr. Diresta, me and Frankie here had a bet when ya walked in. He said "Five bucks it's nails" and I said "No way- it's glue." Jimmy laughs, puts a box of glue in the floorboard to his scooter and later disappears into a basement on the lower East side like Batman with a table saw.
Jimmy- What makes you a true master is how your share your technique's and discoveries. I really don't know how you get it all done. I suspect that you have built a time machine. All of NYC stops with the flip of a switch in your basement.

beautiful. saw an old cabinet similar to this on the weekend at a garage sale. now I have the inspiration to make my own. only maybe a bit smaller
I'm loving that step where you pick up the wood to get the whole cut on one pass of the miter saw! Need to watch it in slo-mo so I don't lose a hand....
I know that I have been looking back into the archive videos but I really like this build. I have always wanted to make one of these so now I think I will.
Nothing beat hand made and you sir have made some stunning workshop furniture the quality and detail in the work you do inspires me to put the same effort into my work I suffer from multiple serious mental health issues and your channel show me that if you put the time and effort in anything is possible God bless you and thank you for keeping my mind busy big hello from London uk 👍🏻🇬🇧🇺🇸
Excellent no-nonsense video and lovely soundtrack too. Nice piece of furniture - i'd have to sit and look at it for a good while though just to admire it. Keep up the good work Jimmy.
nice job I only really got into Woodwork in about a year ago making jewelry boxes and stuff like that all you guys here on TH-cam inspire me and hope to be as good as you guys on here
Hi. Jimmy BOSS. I wish i could be your student. U really inspired me. Ive seen almost every vdo uve posted. Without any music i love the sound of ur work and i must say as u dont use any assistant u really a hard-worker i respect your passion. Love from PAKISTAN :)
Great use of the Briwax Jimmy on the drawers. Taught me something right there. Beautifully done sir!! Does remind of the days going to the library and looking something up in the card index. Nostalgic!
I have always wanted a nice big Apothecary cabinet but cant afford what people want for an old original piece. Your vids are some of the best on youtube, just loved the printing press episode and wished there was a follow up. This vid has covinced me to build my own cabinet, you're the best Jimmy and deserve all good things that are coming to you.
Thanks for taking the time to post your vids. I always learn something and usually it is something I should have thought of but I seem to over-complicate things. This tool drawer is fantastic
Wow ! what a great job ! I been building my Own Shop Cabinets ! I think I'll build one of these on each end ,,, Lil work surface in the middle Bottom and wood working Cabinet in the middle !
I think this type of cabinet is referred to as "apothecary style". Damn fine work and, as with all your projects, with inventive and clever shortcuts. Some I know and many I never thought of, but will use in future. Thanks, sir.
Is it just me or does any one else want to see Jimmy and Adam Savage do a one day build over on tested? Also nice project and I love the brass hardware
+Anonymous I vote neither. DiResta is cooler than both of them, combined.
+Anonymous you got that completely backwards, Jamie is a perfectionist and Adam just likes to do thing his way.
+Michael Wilson i was thinking the same thing
No.
I fear it would precipitate an apocalyptic extinction event.
Jimmy: (without saying a word) "Check out these sweet ass brass drawer pulls that are the perfect finishing touch to this project." POW! zzzt zzzt

+Frank Curley thank you !!!!
I love how your style and filming has been the same for years :)
Yeah! And to think he doesn't even speed these up! That's just how fast he is.
+Lauri Lehto hahah ;)
well, if you look very closely you can notice that he actually slows them down.
Yeah his style is great!
I heard he actually has all his videos on -3x speed 😳
Yea, well, if I had access to al off those nice tools Jimmy's using, then.... Well, I'd still make crappy stuff probably.
I'm really good at watching videos though.
You should make a tutorial video of your skill:)
A
I really like the fact that this video is longer than usual... More Diresta = more better!
Love it! Douglas
No hay guea mas relajante que ver a estos viejos trabajando en esto, y excelente trabajo...
That is one of my favorites. I need more enclosed storage, I want to be able to leaf blow my garage out and if I could put all my tools and small items away there would be far fewer nooks and crannies to hold the dust. Awesome job as always Jimmy!
There is beauty in your skill and attention to detail you do with pride. Very good.
Just watched damn near every one of your videos, excellent work brother! People see the short and sweet videos and don't realize what it actually takes to do this stuff. +thomas britton Thank you !!!!
+thomas britton But it seems like a very gratifying type of work.
One great piece of workmanship from someone who obviously loves what he does!
I bet the "I'm never doing this again" came out a few times.
"Just ten more"
Hahahah
Just what I thought, but what a masterpiece
+jimmydiresta How long did it take you to make all of those drawers?
+Jon Gordon Lmao. I was thinking the same thing. I've learned that throwing together a jig for stuff is great. Even for small jobs. If I can make a jig, or do multiple cuts at once to make things go quicker, I'm all about it.
You sir get the prize for super work. I love watching a master craftsman do his thing. Thanks for posting this, just to prove to the world that some people still do it right, and care about the quality of the product they produce.
Another thing of beauty! Your shop fixture is nicer than my actual furniture.
+Andrew Setters My thoughts exactly :p
I have great respect for anyone who has the gift of woodwork. I would love one of this for my scrapbooking stuff. TFS
Wow Jimmy that came out slicker than goose grease on Teflon.
Is that a AvE reference??
+Soccerdude023 haha i was asking myself the same thing
Well it's definitely skucome that's for sure
Thank you... I had NO IDEA of how to spell that
+Soccerdude023 I think I heard that in his last video on warranty sticker removal.
This is without a doubt my favorite video on TH-cam. Every time it pops up I rewatch.
I like your little sanding disc on a stick thing. Looks kinda like a banjo.
A "Sand-Jo," if you will XD
This was an example of efficient, production workshop processes. Awesome!
Hello mr diresta i am going through some rough times right now and for the past few weeks i have watched your videos multiple times each i love how you can randomly produce beauty
+mouad choukri Thank you buddy!! thank you for the support!!! remember hard times are temporary!!!

If it is a Persian name, it means "Ressurrection"
Truly beautiful piece of carpentry. Your grandchildren will be fighting over who gets it I think, never mind your kids ! Please carry on so those of us less able can learn how to do stuff like this. Thanks for sharing your skills with me.
Holy Handclamps, Batman - that crosscut sled is genius!
Beautiful work, James - beautiful work...
+Toby Kennedy (thetobykennedy) Yeah, I've never seen a dado sled before.
+Toby Kennedy (thetobykennedy) jimmy*
I agree
+Toby Kennedy (thetobykennedy) Building a nice crosscut sled is a project in itself.
Simply Beautiful, its like watching a famous artist just do his thing and being there from the start and the finish
A great lesson in batch work, and the importance of jigs and templates (there's a tips video subject) Brilliant work as usual Jimmy D
+Seans Workspace
I agree. The jig for the brass card holders is so obvious when you see it. Makes everything aligned. That wasn't obvious to me until I saw it.
Did you spot the error? Bottom draws have extra rebates where they aren't needed.
+Nickle that was to keep the spacing not a mistake I knew it would be hidden. Thank you !!
+jimmydiresta You're welcome. It's a cool project.
On the jig front, that was really smart. Simple. Gives very neat results.

I think it's time TH-cam gives us a Love it button, like don't express my emotions when watching videos like this, great job keep it up!
Old Diresta videos lull me right to sleep. Anyone else watch Diresta before going to bed/taking a nap? Just me? Oh.
Watching you work reminds me of a Mark Twain quote: Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection.
I would have taken months to build that, LOL. Great work Jimmy!
That is way too nice to be in a dirty old Machine shop. should be in my living room Great Job !
How does this guy have under 500K subscribers? These are amazing examples of craftsmanship!
This just came up in my feed, and I'm surprised by how nice it is to see one of your older videos once in a while! It gives a nice perspective on your career and how you haven't gotten to where you are now without a whole lot of work!
Lory Henning thank you for the kind words!
That came out fantastic!
I only discovered your channel about 2 months ago. I have really enjoyed going through your content and am blown away by the sheer range of your skills as much as the quality of the end work. It is genuinely inspiration. Thanks.
That looks like an old Library card cataloge. Very nice.
+Dan aka Basuraman My thoughts exactly!
Who was Dewey Decimal anyway? LOL
+Mike Kapotsy Dewey Decimal... Thanks for the great laugh!
Agreed (though Jimmy's looks nicer). Libraries the world over are tossing and CraigsListing these cabinets by the thousands these days. Today your average library looks more like a server farm than a library of olde.

hi jimmydiresta, beautiful video, but i have a question, what's the name of the clamps at 1:14 ?
thank you very much !
Dave Goff a
Had to come back to this after watching the new chest of drawers you just built for your leather studio. Feeling completely inspired today!
Thank you!
I think It'd be cool if you included somewhere how long these projects take.
Dude, it`s people like you that motivate me to TRY and do stuff like this!!! The quality of your workmanship is unreal!!!
excellent use of a drawer- put one hammer into it....great job!
Gracias por tan inspirador trabajo, tus videos los comparto con mis pequeños hijos y de verdad nos inspiras, desde Santiago de Chile te enviamos nuestros respetos y si vienes por esta parte del mundo nuestra casa es tu casa.
Now all it needs is a giant spray painted DIRESTA across the front of it
A pleasure to watch on this sunny Sunday afternoon.
Watch out world Jimmy is getting dangerously organized!!!
While I spend all of my time organizing.....Jimmy is gettin it done.
Good wood, repetition, jigs, the right power tools, & a wee bit 'O skill, you end up with a really nice looking cabinet! Well done
Do you arrange your tools using the Dewey Decimal system? Awesome build.
I wonder that too. At one time Jimmy was talking about the Casey Neistat system which could prove interesting if the drawers are fully interchangeable.
+Ian Thomas LOL!
I’m honestly not quite sure how I ended up here, but I’m so glad I did... I have always wanted a cabinet of a thousand drawers so I am a little envious, but so so much work! Absolutely worth it though, beautiful.
if you look closely you can see he actually speeded it up .
*english*
edchaves haha south park reference
Oh yeah yeah. You are right you know.
Actually this is just the speed that Jimmy works at, we mere mortals just cannot comprehend his true skill
Really? Thanks man, thought this was his normal speed 😂👍
Jimmy, you are one of the most innovative wood workers I have ever seen.
I totally need one of these
Wow, that's all I can say is WOW. Not only to you have some mad woodworking skills and patients, you seem to have the TH-cam skills to boot. Thanks for the post. Great.
An instant classic.
+Clickspring If it's got brass, it definitely has class.
Thank you brother!
+Clickspring don't look here. Make more machining videos my friend, can't wait for the next vid on your channel :D
I would normally only allow storage in my workshop to be made from steel but I'd be happy to have something that well made in wood. Very nice work mate.
I still say you need to add your name to every inch of work surface because I constantly forget your name.
Just got one thing to say....simply BEAUTIFUL!!
really well thought out build. just wish he'd of taken the time to line up the grain on all the fronts. woulda just taken a little bit of labeling to keep em straight since he cut em all out of same board and the sizes cut were all grouped. It's the little things like that that don't take much effort but put projects over the top for me.
You do it. Then post your vid for us to criticize.
I'm learning so much, so quickly, so creatively, so entertainingly (no auto-correct, must be a word) , ... feel like I'm jacked into the matrix. Thanks Jimmy.
you should really label some of your stuff
he dose everything he makes has his logo on it diresta
Looks more like "everything he touches".
Its annoying ...
Barafu Albino ikr!
This is to prevent piracy/theft of his IP
Sooo much valuable information in just 17 minutes. Appreciate it! Thanks Jimmy! Can't get enough of this!
Legend has it that Jimmy won't make love until he has stenciled DIRESTA onto the condom.
What a fantastic looking set of tool drawers, great job!
InnaSoulSounds You saw how close his fingers were to that roundover bit? Jimmy doesn't use protection; he has "DIRESTA" DiRectly tattooed onto his penis.
Jimmy you are a true American Artisan. Keep on keeping on.
Could someone please help me out with a problem I have? I'm having trouble finding out what this guys name is. Does anyone know?
Which guy? I can only see an artisan in these videos...
Guy? You misspelled God.
In all your videos there's always at least one new trick for the folks you share!!
Amazing execution, amazing drawer. Thank you!
+Uncle Mullet hahah glue handles most of the work!! nails are to keep the parts together for the gluing process!!
Jimmy- What makes you a true master is how your share your technique's and discoveries. I really don't know how you get it all done. I suspect that you have built a time machine. All of NYC stops with the flip of a switch in your basement.
you know you're in for a good time when Jimmy makes 17 minute video. then you realise that if its 17 sped up minutes for us, it must have been HOURS for him. appreciation goes through the roof!
"Drawers are where tools go to die.", Adam Savage, 2016
Nothing better than 17 minutes of diresta
Porn!!! I've been waiting so long for this one... Came out even better than I anticipated!!!
... Build porn?
+Giaco Whatever Pre-mature anticipation?
Lots of good ideas picked up just watching a whole project from start to finish in time lapse like this. Thanks!
5:59 He wrote his name with glue! :o
I can't be the only one to notice..
Everybody notice, he even showed it to the camera with a slow motion...
+The Mosani shh don't tell him
Just what I would need for all of my tools! What a beautiful cabinet. Thank you for sharing. I ❤️❤️❤️ it. 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺
Anyone else lose their erection at the end when he had to use flathead screws?
@Denise Viar
Flathead screws were all there was back in the day when this style was common.
FH's are totally appropriate
ok wow , I am in love with this , not sure if my husband was watching this video or not but I am hoping that he was. maybe he will make two or more for me and a few for him self. I doubt he will but it is a wonderful thought . great video
beautiful. saw an old cabinet similar to this on the weekend at a garage sale. now I have the inspiration to make my own. only maybe a bit smaller
I find your videos so relaxing, and I like the fact that you don't stop to explain what you are doing, and instead leave us figure it out ourselves :D
My favourite piece by far! Reminds me of the old Victorian apothecary cabinets.
I'm loving that step where you pick up the wood to get the whole cut on one pass of the miter saw! Need to watch it in slo-mo so I don't lose a hand....
Awesome jimmy! Seriously, I don't see how anyone could dislike this.. I aspire to be like you everyday!!
I like the jig for the handles, that saves a lot of messing about with pencils and guesswork.
realy nice build...its surprising what can be made from wood, and how beautifull it looks.....will be watching more of your builds
Excellent no-nonsense video and lovely soundtrack too. Nice piece of furniture - i'd have to sit and look at it for a good while though just to admire it. Keep up the good work Jimmy.
Holy moley that's a lot of pieces. I like the brushed on wax on the drawer outsides and the brass pull jig ideas!! And beautiful of course!
nice job I only really got into Woodwork in about a year ago making jewelry boxes and stuff like that all you guys here on TH-cam inspire me and hope to be as good as you guys on here
Is there a tool in the world you don't have?!
Looking at you work is hypnotizing.
Greeting from Israel!
Best video ever for building a Tool Drawer. Thank You for The Teaching. I Enjoyed It Greatly
Hi.
Jimmy BOSS.
I wish i could be your student.
U really inspired me. Ive seen almost every vdo uve posted.
Without any music i love the sound of ur work and i must say as u dont use any assistant u really a hard-worker i respect your passion.
Love from PAKISTAN :)
One word, Incredible Thank you for sharing
Great use of the Briwax Jimmy on the drawers. Taught me something right there. Beautifully done sir!! Does remind of the days going to the library and looking something up in the card index. Nostalgic!
I enjoyed watching this more than I thought I would have
That's beautiful! Like everyone else, I want one. Jimmy D. is tool cool for school!

Wow ! what a great job ! I been building my Own Shop Cabinets ! I think I'll build one of these on each end ,,, Lil work surface in the middle Bottom and wood working Cabinet in the middle !
I can't think of anything to say except wow. The excitement when I see a new diresta video
idk why but the sped up sounds make me feel relaxed~~
I think this type of cabinet is referred to as "apothecary style". Damn fine work and, as with all your projects, with inventive and clever shortcuts. Some I know and many I never thought of, but will use in future. Thanks, sir.
How could someone dislike this video!? Great job man. Been watching your stuff for years.
