I would enjoy seeing a video of the dugout a year later, and see how it held up. See if any critters found their way in!

Our dugout took the two of us 6 weekends to build. Most of it by hand. It was and still is a labor of love. Now we have a place of refuge and the recognized ability of building it.
Great job on your build brother. It’s awesome.

    Thank you brothers!!
I appreciate your time and efforts!!!😊
Especially the creative uses of the logs like the slat making, door/ window connections, etc..
I'm 53, military raised up and about to teach my 10 year old son more hands on outdoor activities so he can get closer to nature..
I got him this far and he's been obedient and showed a lot of promise so since I left his mom he's been wanting to be with me, so I figured the best way is for us to build our own log cabin and teach him how to fish, shoot, hunt, enjoy Nature and be a real self sufficient young man and give him what we had growing up or atleast the best I could...

Кто знает,может когда то это ему пригодится,даже если не будет охотится или рыбачить.
Уж починить дом или в доме, сможет своими руками, а это большая экономия для семьи.
А может на пенсии появится такая же тяга к природе как и у его отца.

Awsome video, random idea, I’m sure there’s plenty of air in there but you could make a simple fan to mount onto the air tube on the inside to draw air in, I’ve done somthing similar with a 12v computer fan and a micro usb cable, you can make the computer fan run off of usb by connecting 2 wired (red and black) and then it can go into a cheep portable phone charger battery

It's a very nice hideaway, very clean and snug.
I'm wondering if you have had water accumulation under the floor. I would think that the ditch around the perimeter of the dugout would serve to channel all the water from on top of the dugout, and half the water from the berm, directly toward the walls. Even though you have tarped the walls, it seems to me that the sandy soil would allow that excess water to flow down the sides, under the wall, where it would spread out and build up under the floorboards. It would probably be okay in the summer and fall, but winter snow melt and spring rains would load a lot of water into the ditch in a very short time.
