- Hi! After a long absence in the dugout, I was finally able to get to it. It was very difficult. The road to the dugout was covered in snow! I found myself in a winter wonderland! The winter forest is beautiful!
It's always warm and dry in my hidden underground house, but I had a problem, my door broke - I had to fix it! I began to prepare the dugout for spring, cleared the snow around, prepared some firewood. For dinner, I cooked bone marrow! It's very tasty, you should try it! see you again soon!

This is probably my favorite dugout shelter, because it's basically 100% underground, so if you didn't already know where it was, you'd probably never find it. If I had the money, I'd buy a huge piece of land in Northern Maine and do this.
With the way the world is going you might be better off finding a way to get it done. Stay safe.

А может вам дверь убрать и сделать хороший, широкий навес место двери. С боков можно будет хранить дрова они у вас всегда будут сухие и под рукой. Чуть повыше построить чтобы удобно было спускатся вам. А так у вас стало хорошо, сырости вроде нет как раньше было.

The only Bigfoot in these forests is so far me =)) I know exactly how to find the entrance, but it is not desirable for others to know =)

Are you concerned that the snow melt later might cause the cabin to flood? I know it's tarp lied in the walls but there was some decent water collection under the floor.
sandy soil under the dugout. it absorbs water well. shouldn't flood. there would be clay - then there would definitely be water in the spring

I'm sorry I don't think I could eat bone marrow unless it was absolutely the last thing I had to eat! Yuk! However, I do love how cozy your dugout is. Don't you have a gun on you out there in the wilderness by yourself just for protection? I love watching all the camping videos and snow cabins and what not. But besides me is there anyone who;s skin crawls when they hear the sound of screeching boots, snow shoveling or any screech? It bugs me so much i remove my headphones and just watch it until they start cooking... makes me hungry

That was my thought too. A strong wind could bring down trees. I would want another exit. 900,000 acres of trees were flattened in the derecho in the Adirondacks in 1995.
