These videos are good as they indicate if I can do the job myself or let the garage do it. On this occasion I let the garage do it as I don't have the kit for it. Thanks!
Just done this on my polo Drivers side,had to jack up the bottom spring plate with a piece of box section on the trolley jack...worked a treat..Compressing the spring is the hard bit... ;-)

Nice Video, however if you are changing the spring on the other side, the drive shaft is longer which makes removing the strut more awkward. No matter how hard you belt the hub the hub physically wont go down far enough to clear the strut. The longer driveshaft bottoms out on the wishbone. ( I kept bashing ten bales before I realized something was wrong). You have to either remove the driveshaft from the hub or pre -compress the spring on the car. There is no substitute for a proper workshop manual. Lesson Learned.

My understanding is you also need to undo the end of the driveshaft and the three bolts holding the bottom ball joint, to give enough movement to get the strut out. It might also be possible to put spring compressors on the car before removing the strut in order to get enough space to wiggle it out.
Great video, but there's little to no point doing these how to videos with such a professional spring compressor, as those who need to check a video before carrying out a repair on their car are highly unlikely to own such an equipment.
