Couldn't sleep and I found your video I found the answers to all my problems with food growth and sillage and everything that you'd want to do to revitalize the ground I grow more things that have lots of seed pods like that sorghum seed., amaranth.. quinoa..millet... open my eyes to the things that are there seeping around for thousands of years and just all I want the light bulb came on I don't know why I never thought of this stuff before because it is never ending it will keep growing it will keep growing and you can Harvest it all year or all of these different kinds of seeds I just bought every kind of amaranth you can think of all that one that I just recently found I'm going to get the Sorghum seeds next I have chia seed millet I want to get red quinoa.... just thought I'd share my aspirations with you... 2:34 a.m.

In addition to being a super food, it makes a great cheap cover crop....It germinates very easily and the water requirements are minimal. Besides, I like the flowers too.
And the roots go very deep, so you got more organic matter in the soil = more food for bacteria and nematodes. And glucose for the mycorrhiza fungi during the time the roots are alive.

Chia is a great food to have as a staple in the diet in my experience. I have between 3 - 4 cups per week, and have done so for years.
One of the best ways to prepare chia is to sprout it lightly and blend it for 30 seconds in fermented grain water to aid absorption. Even better is to grow chia grass for 2 weeks and then juice it, but this takes more skill to do and is fiddly. The easiest way is to just sprout chia for 2 - 3 days so the tails are about 1 mm, but sprouting too long make it lose it meatiness and taste because it becomes too grassy tasting.

I am a sproutarian, the great majority of my food is sprouted, I prefer it that way because l am used to living that way. Often over 99% of my food is sprouted. It is a diet l prefer over other diets.
Sprouted chia paste in fermented grain water is a staple I have for breakfast that keeps me filled all day, and another staple l like is fermented sprouted sunflower kernels with some fermented pumpkin seeds that l blend for 30 seconds so it is like a fermented milk. I drink the later drink after some hydrilla algae to balance the high phosphorous with the high calcium in hydrilla. It satisfies all day.
I also like to do large amounts of microgreen juices and some sprouted grains and legumes in the evening.
WoW that sounds very inspiring! I do love fruit the most so that's my staple, and I have a large garden full of veggies so I don't sprout so much. But I do juice and appreciate the lighter energies of living foods..

I am currently keeping quiet and not posting any video or website content for the next 12 months.I am doing lots of spiritual development and meditation etc so l am not saying much in public at all. I am just focusing on self at the moment. In time l will make the website more practical and relatable and better overall. Being flexible is the key to helping people, l used to be too hardcore and extreme. We all grow and learn.

I hit the subscribe button at "wha-hoo!" Jesus is the only way, truth, and the life. I want to small scale harvest my own chia and cereal grains. Good info. What was the mesh filter size you used? I just winnow my seed I take from my garden, but that is not optimal for things like chia. You made it look really easy.

My mother just phoned me she cannot buy some vegetables anywhere the shelves are empty.
My dear old Aunty told us all ( the whole family of around 80 people) back in 1998 to get out of the city "Sydney" before 2020 and start being more self-sufficient as very hard times are coming. Only one family of 5 stayed my cousin and his family the rest all moved up and down the coast. I sold my house in Sydney and moved to a 6 acer property some 500 kms away from the city eight years ago. Looking back I wish we all moved together as a family unit in the same area safer in numbers.
Than in 2010 my Aunty call a family meeting again. She handed out documentation to us all and told us to read this and stressed to us to read it and make plans based on it as its your future. She said some parts are named as a narrative but make no mistake it is an instruction manual and this is how the end will start or the beginning of the new world which ever way you want to look at it.
I still have it today and one of the documents is the last two years of our life's exactly. I do not mean close I mean exact.
In 2010 I was given this, reading back than of a virus that will start in a place in China called Wuhan (never heard of such a place back then I have now) followed by world wide locking down of the populations around the world and so much more was like ready a fairytale. I have been told this can still be found online the power behind this document is it was printed in 2010.
Its called "Scenarios for the Future of Technology and International Development".

What's your conversion rate. Because you say 6x more calcium than milk... But do you have to eat 2lbs of chia seeds to get 6x calcium than a glass of milk? Because then it would be easier and more practical to just drink a glass of milk.
Much easier to grow chia than cows however...

Thanks for sharing. I might try growing chia. How long did it take from planting to harvest? I want to make sure there is enough time for them to mature. I wonder how strong the stems of the plants are and it might be interesting to grow with sweet peas or scarlet runner beans. The beans could be good for the soil, which another commenter noted could be ajust issue if growing the same crop season after season. Crop rotation works, too. What are the other beautiful flowers growing alongside the chia?

Seems like you need to be at least in growing zone 8 to grow chia. Which is a pity since I live in zone 7. Love your video though, I had no idea Australia had any frost at all.
Is it 6% moisture content for eating/cooking or is that just for replanting the seeds? Brilliant video by the way. I remember tossing wheat/barley in the breeze to get rid off chaff ... the good old days.

How many times a day or week do you water the plant? How much water in total?
Will Chia survive winter months or should I grow them inside for winter ? If I grow them inside, would it be good to leave them by the window to get sunlight?
I don't plan on planting allot of Chia, just enough for me and my mother.
+Celestic Rose They do seem to like water so keep them happily watered if you know what I mean. They don't like frost but they do seem to like the cool. You can get quite a lot from a small patch of plants, and for me you can't plant enough, it's very useful stuff!
Celestic Rose, Chia is susceptible to frost, good time to plant is at beginning of rainy season and the plant is drought tolerant no needs a lot water and is a bee and humming bird attractant.
What climate zone and water requirements? Saw banana trees in back ground and frost cut short the season, I'm thinking you could be southeast United States.
+Clayton Wilkinson Oh the frost you saw was the start of Winter and yep the Banana's and the Chia both don't like it that cold. From my growing experience they love water, not too hot and not too cold, feed them some natural fertilizer and you should have a Win! :)

Another chia video from California shows quit another plant, they call Salvia Culumbia, it look much different from your Salvia Hispanica. Do you know about that Salvia Culumbia and if that is realy a chia also? See that video here, the first video shot (I selected) shows the ripe seed heads on the plant are much different then yours.

megagramos ca Not long at all, when the seed is dry it comes out very easy, and the chaff separates easily with the wind or your breath. One of the easiest seeds to save and replant! :)
At our place in Holland Chia seeds (boutht from the organic food shop) grow almost 2 meter high and dont make flowers (and seeds). You think we have a wrong type (breed) or it is only to cold in Holland?

I was wondering if there was a difference between the "micro greens" like the chia pets, and the actual chia plants? From what I learnt it likes Autumn or Spring, not too hot or cold. Loves water, Sun, my soil is pretty poor, but with composted healthy soil it thrives.. An easy, productive one to grow :)

Certainly the supposed health benefits are the only reason to eat it (speaking personally) but calcium and iron are very poorly absorbed from chia so it isn't quite as good as it looks on paper but I like what you are doing (Bill Mollison was a very early influence on my thinking) and it looks beautiful out there bud.

it is a tropical and sub tropical plant, you may grow it in greenhouse, controling light and temperature, must have 12 hrs/day light
