There is no one way to do it, except by ear. When you get things set in a way you like then save a preset. It gives you a good place to start from and tweak for other projects. You won't want the exact same settings everytime, but starting with something that worked before is better than from nothing.
Give thanks for the kind words. Some instruments are virtual, some are real and tracked through the console. The mix was done with the board in midi control mode though.
Carlos Betancourt glad you are vibesing on the dubs. There was a song Mario posted that I wanted to dub but he couldn't get the original files. If either group wants dubs done at any time then you know how to reach me, bless up.
will the allen and heath zed r16 midi function work with just the mini out or do I have to use firewire. My computer doesnt have firewire but I want to use it as a daw controller until I do. Will this work? I also have two adats to play with
For this mix there are no preamps involved. The mixer is being used as a midi controller, individual tracks aren’t running through the mixer. Even when I do a hardware dub, the tracks come thru firewire and bypass the preamps. I can overdrive the preamps when recording, but I don’t, I prefer to use plugins for that. There’s no point in running the preamps too hot, it’s not a classic high end mixer with transformers. I don’t believe there’s any imbalance on the master buss.
Can you please explain to me exactly how I have to connect / complete the following set so that I can record the music on Ableton? ZED R16, TR-909, TR-808, TB-303, RME-800 (audio interface), Ableton (DAW)
I don’t use Ableton. The zed is your interface, you don’t need the RME if you’re using it with firewire, or you can use the adat outs to the RME if it accepts them, I don’t know the gear. Hook up your equipment to the line ins on the zed and select the tracks in your daw, sorry I can’t be of more help, it’s fairly simple though.
I have a Westfinga filter now, hardware clone of Tubby's. This is software though on this song. Most likely a patch I made with Melda mequalizer. I have a video on how to do it if you check my page. Bless up.
I love this console wish I could afford one I would make some nice reggae music at home in Jamaica.
How ya mean! It's a great and flexible unit, can't be beat at that price. Still, forward with what's in hand, bless.
Miss this one... another excellent track... Trev

This is so good. I love the slow groove and the hot sun vibe! Is there going to be another album with these new ones?
Thanks Paul, no album. I'm just doing what I can when I have time.
No outboard fx? Sounds great

Shazamm The iPad Producer I only use the firewire. You can get the manual on A & H website to check.
how do you do that King Tubby filter? do you have some specific plugin?
Nigilitos Melda Production Mequalizer, but you have to set it up properly, use the banks feature and turn interpolation off.
Thanks!
Nigilitos contact me if you get it and have problems setting it up
So I got a question on this bored, am I only able to use the insert channels if I’m hooked up to the fire wire ?
No, they work like normal, plug in anything and the inserts work.
can you overdrive the preamps for saturation? and is there a LR channel imbalance on your master?
