Can I ask ? How are the tracks running through the mixer? Are they on tape or in the computer? Are they fed out through a sound card to separate channels?
The spring reverb in this video is from a real spring tank (connected off camera) controlled by the Beni Dub Spring Amp. The built in spring reverb on the Soundcraft mixer is ok but not really good for achieving that 'real' dub sound...
Great Sounds!! You could help me out with a decision. Westfinga Filter or Beni Dub Spring Amp if you only had money for one?Ive a retroverb so im thinking Westfinga filter but would appreciate your thoughts. HAppy dubbing!!
If you already have a spring I would see if you can get the Westfinga filter - which is an Altec 9069 clone. There is quite a wait for one but it is worth it. Seb who makes the filter is a top guy and makes some great dub as well. The Beni spring is awesome too with a great hi pass filter and LFO sweep and is worth getting later down the track if you can. The filter is pre spring and it is responsive with different tanks.
So you have a reverb with a high pass on it, a delay... whats the third effect? Or are you routing the reverb to de the high pass via the 3rd aux? Thanks for sharing!!! Sick dub... Love when the horns kick in near the end
Can’t remember the exact setup here but we usually group the stems in the DAW and send those to desk. Spring, filter and delay across the aux’s - sometimes in series for a different result.
So good, I keep coming back to this one.
one of the most fire dubs on here
that high pass filter is crucial! love that sound.
Beautiful sounds! Loving the high end on those reverb splashes
Hey! How do you have 4 effects when there’s only 3 aux sends?
Lovely dub. cheers
Amazing work ! Can you share the order of the signal flow please ?
dubbb ittt ! large uppppp
Nice dub and set up
Love this setup, nailed the sound
Beautiful!
wicked rinse
Why does the HPF have a stepped control knob? Strange choice. You’d want a smooth control of the filter surely
it's a replication of the Altec 9069B HPF which was also stepped, a classic dub sound famed by King Tubby
@@Kingfisha fair enough. Does sound great
Nice Dub!
Anybody got a spliff ☝🚬
Can you help me ? i need a cheap mixer that work whit ableton live for dub music !
I am looking for the same
Great!
Beni Dub is a great Brand!
got the Preamp fi di Reverb and is amazing!
yeah but there are other great things than everybody having all the same stuf imo, easy choices...
🍻
yeahhh nice moody !!
what mixer is that please, looks analogue but you say it can play stems from USB ?
It is the Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK desk. It works as an audio interface when connected to a computer, so you can send stems via a DAW.
I have a question. What is the name of the rectangular equipment that you sometimes operate with your left hand?
That is the Westfinga High-Pass Filter - which is a copy of an Altec 9068B / 9069B
@@Kingfisha thank you for your reply! I learned a lot (≧ ∀ ≦)
How did you record the whole session? i have the same mixer and the recording levels of channel 13/14 is quite low.
From memory, I think we just ran straight out of the desk into the camera
Can I ask ? How are the tracks running through the mixer? Are they on tape or in the computer? Are they fed out through a sound card to separate channels?
via computer - this mixer can send/receive multiple stems over USB
does the build in spring reverb sounds like a 'real' dub spring reverb?

What is that one big knob he turns? Sounds like phaser or flanger but I can't tell what exactly is happening...
It's a high-pass filter
@@Kingfisha Bless, I suppose I don't get what he's filtering, probably the reverb?
dope dub ! what's the effect with the big button on the case ?
Cheers! That's the Westfinga HPF
@@Kingfisha The switching bleeds into audio...
yep! lofi and gritty 👌
yo mate how u connecting several external fx with the mtk12 ?
There's three aux sends on the desk. Sometimes we run effects in series.
@@Kingfisha ah yeh never thought about running themin series, can u use the aux 3 as a replacement for the lexicon effects?
What is this for a mixer?
Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK
Is that preamp befor the delay to get some punch into it?
No, no additional pre's used

Cheers for the reply. Much appreciated. Been in touch with Seb regarding a DIY kit. :)

love it! would you mind sharing how you setup your aux/fx sends? are you also feeding each channel through your DAW?

do you find the 2 aux sends (plus 1 internal fx send) to be enough on the mtk 12?
