    I use a 2 amp hour battery with this tool and have a large lawn area and have no issues with it what so ever. Even the lawn edger with this with this battery is enough to get through my large yard area. Great tool, go EGO.

    Been watching all your EGO power tools videos. I bought the snow blower and love it... pulled the trigger after watching your video review. Considering getting the mower, trimmer, edger, blower this summer now... good tools. Thank you for your honest reviews, good video work... allowing me to make an informed buying decision.

    Very nice video as always Brian.
    I love EGO products. I bought the lawn mower and 15 inches string timmer last year and love them. No fiddling with gas, oil, carburator...I just plugged my battery back few days ago and it started right away for the first time this year. Pricey products, but I believe you get what you pay for.
    I really like the concept of the Power Head system. That pole saw is very tempting. I wish this was released last year, as I would have bought a Power Head, the string trimmer attachment and the pole saw attachment.
    Thanks for the review Brian :)

    I just got a Ego 56 V Carbon Fiber weed trimmer for my back patio. I only have a townhouse condo. So i didn't need a gas powered trimmer. I researched and compared gas and battery powered trimmers first before making my decision. Im glad i bought the EGO. Its perfect and i dont need to use any gas or mix fluids. If i did have a house with a front and back yard there is NO WAY i woud by gas powered items. From battery powered lawn mowers to leaf blowers this EGO brand rocks. Try it you will like it👌. LOL! L8TR!

    Am such a Dewalt & Milwaukee fan but had second thoughts of choosing their string trimmers after researching & reviewing, i decided to get the *EGO* st1502 trimmer because of the power many claimed it had & their top battery technology & i never regret it a bit, ,,,will be getting the power-head soon

  • @ExaltedDuck
    @ExaltedDuck 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The first lawn tool I bought was the ego string trimmer and it has served me quite well. I only wish that I had known then about their power head system. I was so satisfied with their string trimmer that I bought their 21" push mower soon after and the edger more recently. The edger is available only as a power head tool and if I had bought the power head string trimmer, I could have just gotten the lower part of the edger to swap onto it. As it were, I went with the battery-not-included version of the powerhead+edger and now have the power head in case I'm presented with a need for the other tools.

    After purchasing and using the leaf blower and the string trimmer/edger kit that I agree with everything you said except that I'm afraid that the company may not stand behind the product if you have a problem. I used the edger for less than 90 seconds when it it a rock at the edge of the sidewalk and stopped the edger dead. The head unit was fine but the edger would not run. When I contacted support, I was told that it was not covered under the warranty and I'd have to purchase another edger for $109. I'm pretty upset, but glad that I didn't learn that lesson on a $500 lawn mower.

  • @leonardschuler4087

    The string trimmer turns clockwise, looking down on it, which is backwards from a lot of gas trimmers. So, in each scene in your video, you are using the right side, and that's the side that throws the debris back at you! (read the manual) Old habits die hard. i know, I had to relearn this myself after buying the EGO string trimmer.
    I absolutely LOVE this trimmer by the way. The rapid reload head is the bomb!

    • @ZoomShotz
      @ZoomShotz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking most turn clockwise, and that this one turns counterclockwise.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leonard, you would be correct about the other EGO string trimmers, but this unit turns in the same direction as a gas trimmer. Unlike the other EGO string trimmers on the market, the motor is next to the battery and there is a gear box that runs the string trimmer. If you watch the video, you will notice the debris being thrown away from the landscaping, hence I am on the correct side.

    • @ZoomShotz
      @ZoomShotz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WorkshopAddict, so the string does turn counterclockwise, correct? And most gas trimmers turn counterclockwise?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, because of the gearbox and motor location, this trimmer turns counterclockwise. All other EGO's at this time turn clockwise because of no gearing (direct to motor) . Most straight shaft trimmers all turn counterclockwise. There are some exceptions to that in curved shaft, but most commercial will be counter.... You can see this one throwing pine needles at the camera in the video, hence the proof.

    Great video🤗 I’m new to taking care of a yard and just purchaed mower,string trimmer and today received my edger all by Ego.I was reading the manual and getting somewhat confused by blade replacement for edger and how everything had to be assembled back together perfectly it seemed like it was confusing for a woman who pretty much has never touched any tool.I have not used it yet but it seems very heavy.Not sure if I should return but saw ur video tonight trying to see if anyone had one with a blade change and adjustments.Would you shed some light if you think this edger might be a challenge for a woman to use and service.As I said manual got me somewhat confused.i guess there is a strap to help with but have not seen any reviews if it really helps.Thanks

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scott Everywhere Imam not bagging on Milwaukee, but I do not think thier marketing plan would include a power head that would allow other brands tools to be attached. They want you to buy all Milwaukee stuff!

    • @EverywhereisHE
      @EverywhereisHE 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah Brian I realize that. But what they don't realize is that the more versatile your product is the more sales you will make! That's where greed bits them in the ass! If I can use your product with tools I already have, it makes me more likely to buy more of your products... And when my attachment ware out, if they have a quality replacement, they become my first choose. This is how you build loyalty! Not thru greed and pro priority attachments.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree....... Think about the possibility of tool life extension if Milwaukee built a corded power adapter that made all the cordless tools run off a cord. But that would kill battery sales. And it is not just Milwaukee, none of them are doing it.

    • @EverywhereisHE
      @EverywhereisHE 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually Dewalt has a saw that runs off 2 60 volt batteries or 120 volt line.
      I won't buy it. I'm an electrician and have a 3000 watt inverter in my truck, and rarely use it.
      I use the crap out my M18 system, and always will. Cords are so out dated, cumbersome,and dangerous.
      The NECs mission is to eliminate hazards, and extension cords are one of the worst.
      With Lithium Ion technology and what may be next, battery technology is the way of the future..
      Just ask Tesla!

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A full yard of edging is tough to say because it is different for all. If you have a city lot, .3 to .5 acre, I would say yes. especially if you have edged it in the last two years.

    Hey Brian, great review. You got me looking. I have a stilh that was a 200 + to buy and then after a few years a carb rebuild @ 90 dollars .it does a excellent job , but the string feed doesn't work , so I have to take it apart all the time. Plus mix fuel and store it. Great unit but it only does one thing, trim grass. Next time it poops out, I will give these a look. Is that the same battery pack that was used on the snow thrower ? That unit looked awesome. I was reading the comments below, and the attachments really are a great selling point . I did hear you mention the brushless motor. That's a big plus. Longer run times, and longer power head life.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      First a suggestion on your Stihl... Stop mixing your own fuel, UNLESS you are able to buy ethanol free fuel. If you buy the premixed fuel that is ethanol free, you wont have carb issues. Yes, that is the same battery from the snow blower. I used to use a Stihl FS130 for everything and I sold it as it sat in my shop and was never used.

    What reasons are there to buy EGO's standalone tools (string trimmer and edger). They have the straight shaft that is much more expensive. How are those better? I'd prefer to spend less, have one tool that is interchangeable like this, and have it all take up less space, but what is any advantage of the standalone separate tools?
    Thanks!

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      At this time, the only reason to buy the stand alone string trimmer would be if you could get them on sale and collect the extra batteries that come with them.

    • @MattBoyd308
      @MattBoyd308 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      WorkshopAddict I have the big 7.5 battery with my mower and wonder if that would make this too heavy. I am pretty sure it is fully interchangeable, and getting extra batteries might be nice but pricey. would be nice to get this bare bones.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      7.5 Ah is not too heavy. You will know it is there, but it normally comes with the 5.0 Ah so you are not far off in weight. I think you will be good.

    • @PresentedByBailey
      @PresentedByBailey 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      kind of like a triathlete or decathlete, they are really good at individual sports but not great compared to a specialized athlete... i think the standalone tools can be shorter (where advantageous) and lighter in weight. if your one motor breaks down then all (or at least a lot of) your stuff is broken down. individual tools can also have many speeds where necessary. my non-ego trimmer has 6 speeds. i assume the ego trimmer has more than 2 speeds (which is what the multi-head tool seems to have.) cost is also not as great as it should be, imo. the string trimmer attachment is $120 ( tinyurl.com/y4xrm8zy .) the string trimmer for $139 ( tinyurl.com/y4g82ncf ) the motor and all the stuff on the head is only $20 more?

      Eric White Yes, a high performance Echo line or premium Stihl line. Anything commercial.

    • @eawhit
      @eawhit 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Brian! I've been using the Echo Black Diamond .095 line. It cuts great when there are no obstacles. However, it tends to break more easily than I would like when I happen to mistakenly come to close to concrete/driveway.
      To help with the durability, do you have any experience trying a larger diameter line than .095 with the Ego Power Head Trimmer attachment? A .105 or even .130 size line would probably help, but I don't know where the diameter ceiling is practically for the unit. Not sure if the Black Diamond cross section lends itself to a larger nominal diameter due to the lower drag.
      Here are the lines I am considering:
      Echo Black Diamond .105

      Rotary Black Vortex .105

    i replied to someone below about why would anyone buy the separates over this and here was my reply...
    kind of like a triathlete or decathlete, they are really good at individual sports but not great compared to a specialized athlete... i think the standalone tools can be shorter (where advantageous) and lighter in weight. if your one motor breaks down then all (or at least a lot of) your stuff is broken down. individual tools can also have many speeds where necessary. my non-ego trimmer has 6 speeds. i assume the ego trimmer has more than 2 speeds (which is what the multi-head tool seems to have.) cost is also not as great as it should be, imo. the string trimmer attachment is $120 ( tinyurl.com/y4xrm8zy .) the string trimmer for $139 ( tinyurl.com/y4g82ncf ) the motor and all the stuff on the head is only $20 more?

    *I have used Stihl for over 20 years 🌴 **allabout.wiki/EGO** and after reading some reviews of this trimmer, I tried EGO Power+ , and I'm going to switch. Compared to several Stihl trimmers I've had, this one is easier to start, quieter, and feels at least as well built . A major plus is it doesn't have the wonky, always leaking, complicated gas tank caps that Stihl has.*

      brent Jones I can understand that. It took me along time to change over. I left my Stihl has powered FS130 behind for battery......
