I can always tell a copper penny from a zinc penny when I dig them up. The copper penny will still be complete and round while the zinc penny will look like its been eat up by grinder with jagged edges. The soil where I live eats up zinc pennies. I got a Vanquish 440 but still mostly hunt with my Tesoro Cibola because it runs quiet and goes fairly deep. Like the Vanquish too, but sometimes it will give a coin signal on deep iron plus its harder to pinpoint than the Cibola.
I found over 40 bucks in coins in three days of detecting an old baseball field with a Bounty Hunter machine in 1996. I found three 14k gold rings one evening on a low lake in just over 30 minutes and found others at parks in NW Louisiana. I made gas & beer money nearly every time I used it. I found my first gold ring in the 70s with a Whites Coinmaster, an 18k England Air Force Base with missing stone in my grandfather`s yard plus 1.75 in old silver coins.
@@SMALLTOWNMETALDETECTING I`ve had a head injury (1988 car accident) but I never forgot that first gold ring. I remember finding a Franklin silver coin & Walking Liberty half that same day. I think I found silver quarters but can`t remember what. I do remember it was 1.75 silver total in my grandfather`s garden and the ring was on the side of the house. I wish I could go back now but not sure who owns it.
I enjoy a no frills vid. No lead in with you drinking your morning joe or driving to your favorite site...just good down to earth detecting. I also have the 540 and love it. Awesome depth and easy to set up. I have a 6000 DI Pro that I hate to leave home. On your zinc pennies... do some research on metallic halo. That will help shed some light on why they can easily fool ya. Batteries that leach out into the soil matrix is a good example of the halo and many metals will do the same in the right soil matrix. Keep up the good work!!!
Nice hunt Jamie, glad to see you still swinging 😁 I went out last Sunday for 9 hours hit 2 school's. Found 3 Wheaties 1 being a 1909, a ton of clad a lot of garbage but no jewelry 😢
Nice hunt. I got to take the 540 out of a few hunts this yr these Vanquish Detectors are beast. I like the 8inch coil on them in parks. Thanks for taking us along on this Adventure .. Happy Hunting .Peace
I dropped my tiny knife in tall grass doing a makeshift twine trellis for my garden. My Vanquish 340 found it fast but in relic mode it grunts a lot in my high iron soil. Works great in coin & jewelry modes though for finding coins. I found over 30 modern coins and a nice pocket knife testing it. There was a very large nail in the same hole as a quarter but it easily identified the coin.
@@SMALLTOWNMETALDETECTING I`ve never had a decent machine like the Vanquish. I really believe in it after using very simple ones all my life. I wish I lived near a beach but if I ever go back I`ll have it. I`d hunt every day if I lived near a beach. The gold is there and persistence pays.
Loved your ", freaking pull tab" . Thanks for the video. I got 440 recently, gone out like 5 times, but so far frustrated as I find it too much science, set up, numbers, signals....but I'm keeping on going....Let it beeeep 🧲🧲🧲
Nice location to metal detect. I enjoy hitting the parks, ball fields with concession areas are great.👍👏

That's some impressive finds and even more impressive that you remember all of it.
