Make sure you rinse the Nanofoamer screeen asap after foaming. The screen can easily get clogged. Easy enough to clean with a toothbrush, but it really helps if you rinse immediately
Just used it for the first time this morning. It works, it makes really good foam in my first try. Just a bit pricey, but if it lasts for years, it’s a solid investment imo.
I've been using this in tandem with my Picopresso for a couple of years now and I think its a great entry into espresso if you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a entry level machine and already have a pour over setup. Its also great for camping/traveling.
Also, combining this with moka pot or french press coffee and decide you want to add creamer or foamy milk, it can be quite the ritual, but quite satisfying.
All these built-in battery products are always doomed to have a forever death like earbuds. There's even a great solution available, if they can just power it up with a replaceable 18650 battery (or even 2) instead of a built-in one/AA batt option, Subminimal can save on overall costs in aftersales replacement. They'd get better customer satisfaction and their brand would gain more overall. Great video, I love the production quality.
Really nice alternative to someone that just wants some foam relatively cheaply. If I was serious and didn't have steam wand, I would get Jura frother, just way easier. But if you have espresso machine or are intent of getting one, you don't need this. I would get this for something like wacaco picopresso setup, making small, relatively low cost espresso setup. Personally at least I have never really used or wanted foamed milk for coffees other than espresso.
I would use my espresso steamer and then use it, as I often have issues using different milks for my sweeter loving guests, vs classic, vs vegan, vs , vs, vs....So I would use it for finishing touch up after steaming.
I backed the first gen. Nanofoamer a few years ago and I've been using it ever since with my flair signature. There is going to be a automatic milk froth er device with the same technology as the nanofoamer. The kickstarter just ended I think, but I'm really looking forward for that. I'm planning on buying the flair 58 to upgrade my system in general, but still stay somewhat manual.
I cannot find any place where you can buy replacement parts such as the impeller and the two sizes of mesh screens. Has anybody found these parts for sale? Thank you
Something I could look into doing! In the mean time, the technique I followed was actually from the Subminimal instructional. I found it very informative!
Yes I followed their advice too BUT I think maybe I was overheating my milk. I had been doing it on the stove. Today I did it in a microwave and got much better results. I also made a point of not heating it much at all. @@LifestyleLab_
The frothing or the pouring? Pouring, having a nice wide mouth as a beginner is helpful. Literally TOUCH the milk as you pour it across the surface. You’re pouring across, not into, the base 👍
Is this that much of an improvement over using a french press and creating foam manually that way? You're also getting "micro" foam from the screens in the french press as well.
This is significantly finer foam than that, yes. To get latte art quality foam the key is that vortex in the pitcher that integrates the air. The French press method is more a coarse frothing
I think the course French press froth is from the particular boden French press milk frother unit. The regular coffee unit is a tighter plunge. Thinking that makes a difference. What say you?
I wonder how well this would be for Matcha as the usual argument against using a hand whisk is that it'll create bigger bubbles rather than the micro bubbles that'll provide a different taste (texture idk)
If you have a espresso machine with a steamer you won't buy it probably. But this device is more useful for people who don't have it and are making their coffee using moka pot or airpress I think. I'm using moka pot most of the time (and dripper osacionally) and I'm using a cheap milk froater that kinda works but it makes a lot o thick foam on the top that is too thick so it doesn't mix with a coffee at all but leaves too much milk on the bottom as well.
Meticulous looks like what people have been asking for for a long time, but I don’t like how chunky the arm itself looks Nanofoamer Pro I’m hoping to get my hands on soon. The pitch from them on how when it works and all the R&D put in is pretty compelling
how do you deal with the speeds ? you start with the fastest and you keep that until the end or in the second phase (when impeler is submerged) you switch to slower speed or keep the same speed from beginning to end and in this case which one? Thanks
@lupalb121 slower will be better for learning the technique of air integration and then mixing to start. Then, once you're comfortable you can use high to speed the whole process up :)
@@LifestyleLab_ thanks ! right now i was doing 3 seconds with fast speed then like 40-45 seconds with slower speed. I get a rather uniform milk foam, without big bubbles but is kind of compact, I think is too solid for good late art and pouring , so this si what I try to improve
You missed calling out you still need to keep the milk temp below breaking or you can't make latte art because the surfactants would no longer cling to the bubbles
Yes, foam is actually made easier with a cold liquid :) I said it needs to be hot so that it will reach your desired milk temperature as it cools during frothing, assuming you’re making a warm drink.
thx for the great review this is exactly what i needed. the milk foamer comes in 2 versions: aa battery or rechargable. do you know if there's any difference in power between the two devices? thx!
FYI - Subminimal claims a 25% increase in speed (RPMs) for the battery powered V2 model & an amazing 300% increase in speed for the rechargeable lithium model over the original
Sorry - I'm not sure if my comment posted the first time - I have pledged for the Nanofoamer PRO, in your experience, does this foam better than the auto steamer on the Oracle? Thanks.
@@LifestyleLab_ so that's somewhere between 50 to 65 degrees Celsius right ? Right now I have a espresso machine which is a 3 in 1 and dispenses milk which is very frothy rather than silky , do u think I can dispense milk from that and then use this foamer on that milk to break down the big bubbles incorporated and create a silky texture?
Some machines introduce a lot of moisture to the milk by virtue of how their steaming circuits are designed. You can actually measure this by weighing your pitcher before and after steaming. Steam is a gas, not a liquid. It is dry. It only becomes wet again when it condenses back down, which poorly designed circuits will allow to happen before exiting the steam tip Ideally, a high quality machine will only introduce a small amount of moisture while still quickly and efficiently heating the milk.
@@LifestyleLab_ I hadn’t really thought about that, but it makes total sense! Now I’m wondering if single boiler machines can ever really make high quality dry steam, without sacrificing brew temp. Since the dry steam would have to come from a uniformly heated high temperature boiler.
@@LifestyleLab_ i have the one that is not rechargable and it just drains the battries. to change the batteries you open it up and do the prosedure, sometimes it works to get it started ,sometimes it dont. i have now solved it with soldering on two cables and installed a rechargable battery on it. i should off course have bought the one with rechargable battery, but it was not aveliable when i bought it.

Immediate rinse under the sink, no issues at all
Small, handy and efficient. I'm so pleased with mine ! I get a super dense creamy foam that holds like a rock. Also very nice with hot chocolate !
Looks great for moka pot users.
Good to know

100% we use a Moka pot all the time and the nanofoamer is a winner with it

Maybe a top down view on how its done would be nice. I wanna see how you texture the milk

Save your money for an espresso with the steamer

Significantly better. I believe I compared somewhere in this video?
@@LifestyleLab_ maybe I missed it thanks fo clearing that out.

Yes! Just don’t heat the milk first
How long did you microwave the milk for?
Totally depends on power obviously, but it took my microwave around 1:20

No, the texture will separate

"Perfectly dry steam" does not exist in this context. It's just small droplets of water. Steaming adds water, period.
Some espresso machines add more water than other, a LOT more.
