Thank you so much for this video, it really helped me to set up a Thrustmaster T16000 Joystick and Throttle to play Star Wars Legends in 2023. One small thing, at least for SWG, you don't need the Hidhide. On Windows 11 you can just search for “game controller” and select “advanced”. Check the vjoy as the preferred device, same on the game preferences. Also configuring buttons to do macros, or typing something on the keyboard/mouse only works on the Windows (e.g. notepad) itself. On the game, it's not working, most probably because of incompatibilities in the game (SWG Legends).
What a great tutorial, after fiddling w/ joystick gremlin recently and not getting all devices to work, you provided the solution I was looking for. And using another piece of software to hide the devices from the game is brilliant, this way they don't interfere. 👍👍👍
Thank you for this video, I keep coming back to it as a reference when configuring my devices. This saved me when the horrible Thrustmaster software refused to work!

WEEOO! Great tutorial! i've been usting Vjoy & Joystick gremlin for a while now and found it quite simple to use. Would love to see a more advanced video explaining how to add shift key to asign a diffrent mapping when another button is pressed or mode changer!
Ok, I have had this for a very long time. Now this is the first time I find a video for it (via XWAU)! So now I can have more controls in say Elite Dangerous, this is very very good imo, since many buttons are for the keyboard.. However, mine never asks to restart the computer. Never did that even before. I wanted to use it back then to control ships in ED (PS4 version), but it never worked good with CrossMaxPlus - latency issues. So I got ED for PC aswell. But at that point I was already tripple elite. Now I want to play XwinAlliance, but with both throttle and stick, and thanks to this - it is now possible!!

I could finally get rid of Thrustmaster TARGET, which i couldn't make work for T16k Duo, and make them properly work as one so I can play Outer Wilds, Everspace with a duo setup. Thanks a lot man!!
Thanks for this! I decided to finally set this all up. Been thinking about it since getting some pedals and noticing issues with toe breaks for forward/back strafing fighting each other but the final push was trying to use Teal's Joystick Visualizer and realizing I didn't want two separate axis being shown. I got everything setup and activated. Looks good in joystick gremlin and same in Windows Game Controller Properties. Only to see in Teal's Joystick Visualizer that it doesn't see input on any of the axis. Buttons showing up fine. Figured shutting down the pc and making sure Gremlin was launched before chrome would help but no dice. Will keep working on it but at least I don't have to worry about sorting devices in Star Citizen anymore.
This is the best tutorial I have seen on Joystick Gremlin. One question though, can you configure HIDHide to allow certain games to see the physical joysticks and not others? My use case is that I need to use JG on IL-2, but not on DCS.
My god thank you I was so frustrated because I wanted to play Freespace 2 open but it only allows up to 6 axis total and only works with 1 stick or throttle total I tried everything for 2 days now and this saved me.
Really like your video to be helpful and at the same time wonder the means and ends humans can reach to get what feels right, thankyou for your and everyone involved in these programs intuitiveness.
Thank you! Why didn't I find this video years ago... I've owned a full Virpil suite of controllers for about 2 years and tried setting it all up with Joystick Gremlin at the time of purchase, but failed miserably. This just made the whole project entirely approachable.
Good morning.Thank you very much and congratulations.I was able to install all apps on Windows 11 without any problems. The strange thing is that Vjoy didn't ask to restart the computer and created the virtual joystick without any problems. Tried to use Joystick Gremlin in Squad game. Tried for hours, everything was correct. The virtual joystick HidHide hid the physical joystick and Gremlin configured it but the game was able to see the physical one.

I seem to be doing something wrong. My cyclic control assigns pitch to a particular vJoy axis, and at the same time, my pedals also assigns anti-torque to the same vJoy axis. How do I resolve that? I've also tried/failed using 1:1 mapping.
I am attempting to play DCS World and wish to configure my PS5 controller's Circle and X buttons to function as throttle up and throttle down controls, respectively, but as an axis to improve thruster control. Pressing the button currently moves the throttle forward by almost one-third. Any advice on how to achieve this would be appreciated as I experiment with different settings.
Is there a particular reason that you bound the x and y axis to the rotation axis? Was that just as an example or does it have to do with having limited axis when only using one virtual joystick? In any case, thanks for this tutorial. I would be floundering trying to figure this all out on my own
Great video. But what I would like to do is to activate a button with a double tap and keep it active while I'm holding it (like tapping twice and holding a button to activate it and keep it active). Do you know how to do this? Thank you very much
Really useful video. Many thanks. Unfortunately, no success getting Snowrunner to see the virtual device that is the combination of my Moza wheel base and USB pedals. The struggle continues!
I need some help. I'm using a dual virpal constellation with pedals setup and I'm trying something different. World of Warcraft. So far I've got basic camera command and action bar mapping figured out. I'm trying to put movement controls WASD on the left thumbstick but I can't figure it out I can get forward to work but I can't figure out how to get backwards and left and right. I could bind them to a hat I suppose and solve it that way but it seems like the stick is the better option.
great video, I am wondering tho. When I set it up and try to use some of the bindings I need to use the # 4 button more than once and obviously cant do that. this is the same for many other numbers. is there a work around for this.
Great video, however I have a couple of questions. With two sticks (or a HOTAS) do I end up with two separate profiles, or is the profile I save in Joystick Gremlin a single one of the combined sticks? Also since Im hiding stuff in HID HIde do I need to assign every single button that I want the game to see? I tried adding curves to axes, then loaded Elite Dangerous and it didnt recognise my Jostick at all in the Keybinds dropdown list in ship controls. And it didnt mention Vjoy either sp nothing worked
It's one profile. You're essentially combining multiple physical sticks into 1 or more VJOY sticks. Yes, unless you're using keyboard/mouse bindings. If you want to map to classic DX buttons you need to assign them. It's been some time since I've played ED but this was the setup I used back then as well. I would make sure that you didn't also hide the vjoy devices in HidHide instead of just your physical joysticks. Unless there is some new issue with ED and Vjoy I'm not aware of!
@@RedLir_Live Thank you so much for getting back to me. Im pretty new at this. May I ask, does Joystick Gremlin need to be running all the time Im running Elite? If I just want to apply curves to the stick, once its reprogrammed by JGremlin, can I forget about it and use the stick as normal? That was all I wanted to do, as I can assign keys in Elite. Thanks again for your time and this info will help me immensely.
Whenever I start joystick gremlin I get an Uncaught Exception dialogue box, with a list of errors in different numbered lines, does anyone have any ideas why? Thanks v. much in advance for any responses.
Hi! I have created 4 vjoy devices and assigned them to my controllers in this order: 1. VPC Constellation ALPHA Right; 2. VPC Panel #2; 3. VPC Rudder ACE; 4. VPC M50CM3 Throttle. I've checked and crosschecked, and they're bound in this order, and yet Star Citizen sees my rudder as joystick 2 and my Panel #2 as joystick 3. When I bound these keybinds to Star Citizen, it recognized the panel #2 as joy 2, but 2 days later (today), it has swapped 2 for 3. When I'm assigning my devices to SC, It comes in this order: vjoy1; vjoy3; vjoy2; vjoy4. I assigned them first in a 1, 2, 3, 4 order, no joy. Then I assigned them exactly as listed: 1, 3, 2, 4, still no joy. I've even disconnected the devices and plugged them in in said order, still no joy. What am I missing? Thanks a lot.
You're describing the reason (bug) that led a lot of us to use JG, but you're basically just replacing the physical swapping with virtual. Try removing 2 vjoy devices from the setup (delete them and reboot) and only map your 4 devices to 2 virtual. There should be plenty of axis an buttons to go around.
How can I create one vjoy device with more then 8 axes? I find I use 11 in star citizen between my two alphas and a rudder pedal. I've seen people using two vjoy devices, but I don't understand why I would do this as opposed to just keep using my non virtual joysticks
What about making a game see one joystick as multiple devices? I've run into weirdness involving IL-2 only seeing 32 buttons and since I hsve way more on my stick (vkbnxt with 2 modules) the control cannot be used IL2 actually sees a button as a hat input for some reason.. at anyrate the suggestion involves making it appear as 2 devices but I've not discovered a way to do that .
Set it up with 2 or more vjoy devices. Remap some of the physical buttons to vjoy1 buttons and some to vjoy2 buttons etc then map the vjoy buttons in game
someone maybe know how to bind gamepad controls to keyboard and to be able to map multiple keyboard keys to one key? similar what xpadder does, but not keyboard to gamepad
Sharka Control panel: I am able to map keyboard commands to my alpha sticks, but not the Sharka Control panel?? Example - landing gear (N - landing mode) works only on joysticks. Doesnt when bound to a button on the panel? I'm guessing Gremlin and Vjoy to save the day?
It should work fine on the momentary switches. The toggle switches can work but you may get interesting results by default since the signal is always on
@@RedLir_Live That explains why my 3 way switches work, provided their is BOTH toggle on/off function/command in Star Citizen. Toggle-on alone required me to flip the switch up & down, if it worked at all. All buttons on that bottom row (sharka panel) are beyond the windows 32 button limit.
Thanks so much for this! I've got all of my axis working but am struggling with the buttons. I mapped F12 to re-center Track IR to a button on my HOTAS, but it only works when the Joystick Gremlin window is selected. Any suggestions? (BTW, I tried other keys with the same result and when I press F12 on the keyboard, it re-centers just fine. Also, the input viewer shows that the button is being pressed.) If using Hidhide, how come I don't have to remap the buttons pressed to vJoy (or do I and I missed something)? I just mapped them to the actual controller (VPC HOTAS and throttle).
So a couple of things. Hidhide doesn't hide the Gremlin virtual keyboard but it will hide physical joystick buttons. So if you wanted to use a DX Joystick button in a game, you have to remap it to a Vjoy DX button. Otherwise you can just map to keyboard shortcuts ( depending on the game) Your Track IR recenter issue. There are two possibilities that I've hit doing the same thing at times. 1) One of the programs is running as administrator, and the other is not. Make sure TrackIR, Joystick Gremlin and any game are all running in the same mode ( either admin or not admin) 2) The TrackIR software has a 'trap' option that you may have to uncheck for F12 recenter, but this is usually only if you want to pass things to TrackIR and the Game, so it's probably #1
@@RedLir_Live Thanks for the info on the virtual keyboard, that makes sense. I'm just getting into flight sims and am starting with MSFS. Everything else is working except Track IR. It's so strange. I checked to make sure both programs were not running as administrator (and they weren't). And like I said before, if the Gremlin window is in focus and Track IR is in the window behind it, pressing the HOTAS button I mapped to the the re-center button works to re-center it. But if I minimize Joystick Gremlin and only have the Track IR window open, the HOTAS button won't re-center it, but if I press F12 on the keyboard, it does re-center.
After a little more searching, I've fixed it. A couple of years ago, I installed a xbox 360 controller. For some reason, the driver interferes with JG. I couldn't delete the driver (must be baked into Windows), but I disabled it and now it works. Thanks for the good work and I look forward to your future videos.
Very interesting. I have the windows xbox controller and maybe not totally related, if I use wireless and the controller goes to sleep, JG turns off the profile, so I have to basically use it wired. Crashed a ship recently finding that out the hard way! Glad you solved it!
I am trying to understand but struggling. I can see where JG would be great for programs that have limited button inputs. But, for programs like MSFS and DCS that can map directly every button and axis with curve control for axis, I'm not seeing the benefits. Can you briefly tell me why I might want to use JG for these programs?
I have not played either of those games so probably not. Most people who find Gremlin are trying to solve a problem. For me and a lot of others who know me, it's Star Citizen and working around many bugs. I will say JG is more than just mapping buttons though, there are many advanced features and button types/macros/submodes that can be achieved, so folks tend to consolidate things into one program instead of doing it all in the joystick software that may be from different vendors and may not support the feature they want to achieve.
@@RedLir_Live I have heard several people on discord say they love it with DCS because they don't have to reload the joystick configurations for all X number of aircraft if they have to reload DCS. Apparently sometimes, I am not privy to this, DCS changes bindings within the game. They say by using JG and binding keys to keyboard key presses, they can resolve a lot of these management issues. Still not sure what they mean by that. But there must be something to it or they wouldn't do it. I just haven't figured out exactly what they are doing yet. Thank=you for your response.
Awesome video. Stumbled on to your channel to solve a typical Star Citizen problem you are well aware of lol. 2 sticks and a throttle please .. Well I know what I'm going to be doing for a while . Thanks again see ya in the verse . o7
is hid hide absolutely necessary? cuz when i go to add gremlin i cant find the exe file, but when opening folders normally i can.. but i cant drag it to the hide opened folders. Edit: nevermind, after restarting hidhide a few times it eventually worked
Thank you so much for this guide. I was having problems getting Elite Dangerous to work with my Worthog Hotas and MFG pedals. Just one extra thing. Can you please let me know where you got the Star Wars Wallpaper from. It's stunning.
hey brother, first i want to think you for your clear and helpful video, its been the best resource yet. I am trying to set up twin sticks for mechwarriors 5, but i cant seem to get the game to recognize the vjoy device as input. Any idea as to why? and side note, what is the difference between absolute and relative axis?
Turtle Beach flight hangar was too obnoxious to get whitelisted inside of HidHIde--because it's a Microsoft Store app and I don't want to modify the permissions on my Program Files\Windows Apps directory--so I used the Inverse Cloak in HidHide (instead of whitelisting specific apps, apps have access by default, then I specifically excluded Squad from using everything) Using vJoy as described here with Universal Control Mapper has worked for me so far in testing--believe that's the newer version of Joystick Gremlin. Also going to use Track IR with Squad via FreePIE as described on some Reddit post.
So if I understand well, I must bind joysticks buttons to keyboard bindings respective from "default" SC to be able to make the use of the Vjoy is that right? Because i've been looking here and there as I went back into SC a few days ago but each day had its own issues with my binds as it used to be like left stick as hotas 1 and right stick as hotas 2 then the next day hotas 2 went to hotas 3 so I had to remap all the binds I had on the hotas 2 to 3 as there was no other way to put it back as hotas 2. I plugged them in the same order, in the same usb connection too and even before starting RSI launcher... Today, it's my left stick as hotas 1 that has his axes inverted... I'm fed up changing everytime I want to get into SC so I hope this will be the ultimate bindings I'll do ahah.
They don't need to be keyboard bindings but you can do that to map to defaults instead of adding a vjoy dx button and mapping it in game. The issue you describe is also why I started using gremlin so multiple devices would be merged into 1 or 2 to prevent SC from getting confused. There is also a pp_resortdevices command in SC to put swap them back if they get out of order. For example pp_resortdevices joystick 1 2 Would swap your first and 2nd sticks order... I just use gremlin instead and hide my physical devices from the game and only let it see 2 vjoy devices
@@RedLir_Live Yes, I heard about the swap command but when the right stick hotas 2 went to 3 ehh... Ahahah Another question, I do have a dual vkb nxt standard that have 27 binds each. Setting up the left one would lead to have binds set up from 1 to 27 at max. but for the right one, should I start at 28 being the 1st input or at 1? Last one, i hope.. Could you tell what is the difference between x y z axis vs rotation? Thanks for your fast answer aswell and thanks for this guide that i'm sure will save me from sinking into SC controls ahah.
@@Polo1309 Depends on how many VJOY devices you plan on using. If it's just one, to make them look like one device to SC, do 1 - 27 etc on the first stick and then start 28+ on the 2nd. Those are just the friendly names Direct X uses for axis. For example if you have X/Y/Twist on one stick you can map it to Vjoy X, Y, Z on vjoy and map the X/Y/Twist of your second stick to X rotation, Y rotation, Z rotation on the same vjoy device. I believe there are 8 axis for each Vjoy device. If you need more than 8 axis you may need to use two vjoy devices.
@@RedLir_Live Well, I just wanted to use left and right sticks. I've been looking around trying to make it work but it seems it's only working for the left stick. The axes and buttons that i've set work properly I didn't setup everything from A to Z but none of the axes or binds set up to the right stick are working. I think i'll go back to in game settings and try to find a way to lock them sticks binds to what they're set up to. Thanks for sharing your video it is very detailed. Sad it didn't work as intended for me.
When i try to remap joystick button to a keyboard key, it only has a single input, it doesn't act like a keyboard key, which when you press it types letters untill you release it. I tried it in notepad and it does one input per click. Any ideas why?
Remap it to a macro. Inside the macro add a press and release of the key you want and a small delay as required. Set the macro to hold and it will repeat until you let go of the button.
@@RedLir_Live Hey, thanks for the reply. Macro didn't do it. But i managed to make it work with Antimicro remaper ontop on Gremlin. So gremlin to set up axies, and antimicro for the keys. Btw the game is F22 Total air war from 1998 with no control mapping, so you need to plug joystick and see which axes corresponds to which input. The joys of playing vintage games on new hardware.
welp, after doing this for setting bindings from keyboard, everything was working fine, but now star citizen cant see my stick and now my joystickgremlin doesnt see any inputs either after i tried to disable everything i did to get it to work on SC
Thank you for the very concise and informative video. I've been using JG but suddenly in last few days it no longer "see" my X52 Pro. Any advice very much appreciated?
@redLir_Live quick question. will possible to use one set of joysticks for two PCs using a switch and joystick gremlin? the goal will be to have two active Starcitizen accounts and use only one set of joysticks. with switch, i can jump between accounts using the same joysticks will this be possible with gremlin?
Nice video. Is there a specific example of why someone would want to use hidhide? With my game, I select the game controller that I want to use from the list given.
I come from a Star Citizen background that has issues and bugs with multiple controllers and randomly swapping them etc. This guide was born from that need and community. The other reason is if you configure VJOY buttons and axis, the game will detect both the physical and virtual when you go to bind something and may not bind to the one you want. If you don't want to use hidhide specifically for your game, you can use the 'input repeater' option in Gremlin which will keep sending the virtual binding when you press it so the game picks that up instead of the physical after the initial click or axis movement. Turn off the input repeater when you're done setting your bindings.
Hello, I don't have a joystick, I want to play with 2 players, one with some keys on the keyboard and the other with a virtual joystick that uses some keys on the same keyboard. it is understood?. It's crazy, but if anyone knows the technique or program, please tell me.
Is there a max number of joystick buttons/axes using VJoy/HIDHide? Could I change the number of VJoy buttons to the max number of buttons/axes on all devices and then use a "1:1 mapping"? EDIT: looks like the max number of buttons is 128 now as of SC update 3.11
Great video. My mapping needs are very simple. I'm flying helicopters and just need pedals, one device for the collective, and a 3rd for cyclic (pitch and roll). In the video the physical X axis was bound to a virtual X rotation, same for Physical Y axis. I suppose the reason it hasn't worked for me is because I bound the Physical X axis, with the virtual X axis (as opposed to X Rotation). Could that be the source of my issue?
Hey man nice tutorial. I have a lot of devices in my sim racing rig and could have a use for merging into a vjoy. Big question: Is there a way to get a physical button press &/or hold mapped to a vjoy button as a press and release, and then register the release of The physical button as yet another press and release in vjoy? I have a turn signal lever that holds the button pressed when activated, but the game wants the button to be pressed once to activate and once more to deactivate
Yes there is. There may be multiple ways to do it, but you can do it this way - Add two macros to the same button that do the same thing ( press and release the desired virtual button etc) - On the first macro - > Condition Tab - > Apply Conditions to Action -> Add Action Condition -> Activate When This Virtual Button is Pressed - On the Second macro - > Condition Tab - > Apply Conditions to Action -> Add Action Condition -> Activate When This Virtual Button is Released - Save / Start the profile Now when you press the physical button it should trigger the vjoy button you have in the macro ( or anything else in the macro) and when you release the physical button it will run the other macro with the vjoy press/release sequence.
Great tutorial! I recently started playing Star Citizen. I have the T1600 Thrust Master, G29 Wheel, Pedals, Shifter and the Saitek Side Panel (also known as Logitech Heavy Equipment Side Panel). Yes, I came from playing Farming Simulator. All my equipment except the side panel worked directly with SC. Was really surprised the G29 equipment worked. Love using the shifter for thrust control, works really great without ever needing to use the cruise control. Anyway, I followed your tutorial and only setup the Side Panel with Gremlin. The rest of the equipment I didn't include since it already worked fine with SC. Gremlin works perfect for getting the side panel to work with SC. I am able to now use all the equipment together with no issues. One question: is there anyway to invert the access inputs inside of Gremlin? I use the side panel joystick for strafing thrust (up, down, left, right, forward and back) Works really well except two of the axis work in the opposite direction I want them to work (Y and Z).
Brilliant video! Thanks. Quick question - I made a vjoy profile and it recognizes all my bindings. However, in-game (I play DCS), the vjoy category is listed but it doesn't register any input. I've used Hid-Hide and done pretty much everything I can think of. Any advice for why the inputs are not registering in-game although it shows the vjoy device listed??
I've not tried DCS myself but whatever you bound in JG should be passed along to the vjoy device you created as long as the profile is active ( green indicator). Do you see the movements passed to VJOY in the tester? Do they register in any other game? Cheers!
@@RedLir_Live I tried it all. I did, however, notice that in my PC devices control in Windows it also does the same as in-game (i.e. it lists the Vjoy device but no inputs are registered)

WEEOO! Great tutorial! i've been usting Vjoy & Joystick gremlin for a while now and found it quite simple to use. Would love to see a more advanced video explaining how to add shift key to asign a diffrent mapping when another button is pressed or mode changer!
Great suggestion!
Amazing man. Thank you and all the people who created this. People are amazing. I could not figure this out on my own.
Glad I could help!
You're a legend man. This is so simple now!
awesome!
Great vid. Came in handy for getting my G920 wheel working in Star Citizen
Nice 👍
Loving this series of videos, very helpful. Nice job!
Thank you so much. This was very informative and fixed my issua with Star Citizen not detecting my z rotation.
This was a great and simple to follow tutorial, thank you so much for making it!
This is the best tutorial I have seen on Joystick Gremlin. One question though, can you configure HIDHide to allow certain games to see the physical joysticks and not others?
My use case is that I need to use JG on IL-2, but not on DCS.
Add them to the allow list just like any configuration utilities. Or temporarily disable joystick hiding
My god thank you I was so frustrated because I wanted to play Freespace 2 open but it only allows up to 6 axis total and only works with 1 stick or throttle total I tried everything for 2 days now and this saved me.
What impact does this have on any force feedback devices such as steering wheels?
Really like your video to be helpful and at the same time wonder the means and ends humans can reach to get what feels right, thankyou for your and everyone involved in these programs intuitiveness.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
Why didn't I find this video years ago... I've owned a full Virpil suite of controllers for about 2 years and tried setting it all up with Joystick Gremlin at the time of purchase, but failed miserably. This just made the whole project entirely approachable.
How does one get the window on the right hand side in the "Basic Example" section?
Good morning.Thank you very much and congratulations.I was able to install all apps on Windows 11 without any problems. The strange thing is that Vjoy didn't ask to restart the computer and created the virtual joystick without any problems. Tried to use Joystick Gremlin in Squad game. Tried for hours, everything was correct. The virtual joystick HidHide hid the physical joystick and Gremlin configured it but the game was able to see the physical one.
Be sure to check out the other videos in the Joystick Gremlin series. I will add more sub topics as time permits!

I linked your video to some steam game disscusions. Your channel deserves way more supporters.^^
Hello i got a problem where steam wouldn´t always recognise my virtual joystick any idea why? It only happens when i close the game and restart my pc.
Interesting. Does it work if you close and relaunch steam? I've not encountered this but I wonder if it's a startup order/timing related issue.
@@RedLir_Live Nope just if i install hidhide, vjoy and joystick gremlin new.
Thank you for making the tutorial! Saved me so so much time
You're welcome!
What do I do with my Z axis? i tried to bind them to z rotation on the virtual stick but they never respond or change in the input viewer
Great Gremlin Videos, works pefect - thank you 👍
Glad it helped!
Did i miss the modifier key instructions? how do i make button 5+6 = 64
This is well done thank you . I have a very strange device missing the z axis can that be added somehow
Thanks for the chat on discord. I hope you get it worked out with support!
@@RedLir_Live great discord channel thanks for the help
Is there a particular reason that you bound the x and y axis to the rotation axis? Was that just as an example or does it have to do with having limited axis when only using one virtual joystick? In any case, thanks for this tutorial. I would be floundering trying to figure this all out on my own
You can map any physical axis to any vjoy Axis. They're just names really.
The struggle continues!
would this work for a g x56 hotas on Bf4 which only recognise 1 controller at a time?
THIS IS AWESOME. Thank you so much. Solved so many of my issues!!!
Glad it helped!
The virtual buttons tutorial in the series should be able to do that. You can configure a key to fire at a certain range in the axis.
You said that you should change the button number 3 & 4 to 3 & 64 on the vJoy, but I only have 8 buttons to choose from. What am I doing wrong?
great video, I am wondering tho.
No, the profile always needs to be running. It's not like VKB or Virpil software that saves the configuration to the stick!
Whenever I start joystick gremlin I get an Uncaught Exception dialogue box, with a list of errors in different numbered lines, does anyone have any ideas why? Thanks v. much in advance for any responses.
Hi! I have created 4 vjoy devices and assigned them to my controllers in this order:
1. VPC Constellation ALPHA Right;
2. VPC Panel #2;
3. VPC Rudder ACE;
Czy jest możliwość uzyskania w tym programie efektu force feedback?
Bardzo proszę o pomoc
What about making a game see one joystick as multiple devices? I've run into weirdness involving IL-2 only seeing 32 buttons and since I hsve way more on my stick (vkbnxt with 2 modules) the control cannot be used IL2 actually sees a button as a hat input for some reason.. at anyrate the suggestion involves making it appear as 2 devices but I've not discovered a way to do that .
Set it up with 2 or more vjoy devices. Remap some of the physical buttons to vjoy1 buttons and some to vjoy2 buttons etc then map the vjoy buttons in game
So I'm setting up some warbirds and alphas, but in gremlin the hats show as individual buttons instead of hats. Is that normal?
Yes. You'll see the same thing in the Virpil VPC JOY TESTER in their software as well. They chose to map them to buttons instead of POV hats.
someone maybe know how to bind gamepad controls to keyboard and to be able to map multiple keyboard keys to one key? similar what xpadder does, but not keyboard to gamepad
Is there any way to assign the DualShock4 gyroscope to vJoy axis?
Sharka Control panel:
I am able to map keyboard commands to my alpha sticks, but not the Sharka Control panel??
Otherwise you can just map to keyboard shortcuts ( depending on the game)
Your Track IR recenter issue. There are two possibilities that I've hit doing the same thing at times.
1) One of the programs is running as administrator, and the other is not. Make sure TrackIR, Joystick Gremlin and any game are all running in the same mode ( either admin or not admin)
2) The TrackIR software has a 'trap' option that you may have to uncheck for F12 recenter, but this is usually only if you want to pass things to TrackIR and the Game, so it's probably #1
What are the POVs in vjoy setup? Why do we need 4?
when i use hidhide to cloak my ch flightstick pro it hides it from joystick gremlin too, only appears when i unhide it
Add it to the allow list
@@tommaxwell429 im trying to use it to get my rudder axis as a differential thrust axis as DCS itself wont support that
Awesome video. Stumbled on to your channel to solve a typical Star Citizen problem you are well aware of lol. 2 sticks and a throttle please .. Well I know what I'm going to be doing for a while . Thanks again see ya in the verse . o7

I do not have input viewer in tools :( I am using an older software 7.1 but if i use the new one it crashed on startup
never mind.. even with the older one i get a trillion fucking fault code when i try to hit the run button.. i just cant win
is hid hide absolutely necessary? cuz when i go to add gremlin i cant find the exe file, but when opening folders normally i can.. but i cant drag it to the hide opened folders.
Cheers from Down Under. RedB 😊
hey brother, first i want to think you for your clear and helpful video, its been the best resource yet. I am trying to set up twin sticks for mechwarriors 5, but i cant seem to get the game to recognize the vjoy device as input. Any idea as to why? and side note, what is the difference between absolute and relative axis?
Turtle Beach flight hangar was too obnoxious to get whitelisted inside of HidHIde--because it's a Microsoft Store app and I don't want to modify the permissions on my Program Files\Windows Apps directory--so I used the Inverse Cloak in HidHide (instead of whitelisting specific apps, apps have access by default, then I specifically excluded Squad from using everything)
Using vJoy as described here with Universal Control Mapper has worked for me so far in testing--believe that's the newer version of Joystick Gremlin.
For example
pp_resortdevices joystick 1 2
Would swap your first and 2nd sticks order... I just use gremlin instead and hide my physical devices from the game and only let it see 2 vjoy devices
@@RedLir_Live Yes, I heard about the swap command but when the right stick hotas 2 went to 3 ehh... Ahahah
Another question, I do have a dual vkb nxt standard that have 27 binds each.
I thought if I could uninstall my Hotas 4 driver as a solution. Would it work?
Hello, I don't have a joystick, I want to play with 2 players, one with some keys on the keyboard and the other with a virtual joystick that uses some keys on the same keyboard. it is understood?. It's crazy, but if anyone knows the technique or program, please tell me.
thank you so much, this is really useful content !
Glad it was helpful!
Never mind, just got to that part of the video lol
how important is the disconnect joysticks part? i didnt know to do that before I installed. should I reinstall?
It's just to make sure Vjoy doesn't hang on install. I had issues without disconnecting my sticks first, but you may not experience the same issue.
@@RedLir_Live thanks!!
Thanks so much. This vid helped me a lot!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for this guide!
Can someone explain what Vjoy is? Can't find any info on it.
It's a virtual joystick
Great video. My mapping needs are very simple. I'm flying helicopters and just need pedals, one device for the collective, and a 3rd for cyclic (pitch and roll). In the video the physical X axis was bound to a virtual X rotation, same for Physical Y axis. I suppose the reason it hasn't worked for me is because I bound the Physical X axis, with the virtual X axis (as opposed to X Rotation). Could that be the source of my issue?
How did you get the Notepad to appear? Thanks. RedB
Excellent video. Thanks a ton!
Question. Can I do this without using Vjoy? I just want to use gremlin...
great infos and i will safe this video for later but do you know if this adds any delay on any input?
I have never noticed any delay. Cheers!
my joystic gremlin does not have the right side interface that is depicted in this video...:(
Thanks for an awesome tutorial !
There may be multiple ways to do it, but you can do it this way
- Add two macros to the same button that do the same thing ( press and release the desired virtual button etc)
- On the first macro - > Condition Tab - > Apply Conditions to Action -> Add Action Condition -> Activate When This Virtual Button is Pressed
- On the Second macro - > Condition Tab - > Apply Conditions to Action -> Add Action Condition -> Activate When This Virtual Button is Released
- Save / Start the profile
Now when you press the physical button it should trigger the vjoy button you have in the macro ( or anything else in the macro) and when you release the physical button it will run the other macro with the vjoy press/release sequence.
Hey, your discord link has expired. Can you please add a new link. I have a question about my custom light gun project please
Add a curve to the axis and then invert it
@@RedLir_Live I just added the curve and then inverted it like you suggested it. It worked like a charm, thank you!
can you close the Hide window by pressing the X ? or it will stop to hide my devices ?
Hidhide runs as a service, so you can close it.
@@RedLir_Live perfect ty. With your vidéo I have setup all my hotas and stuff it’s awesome now ty
Cheers!
@@RedLir_Live yes, movements reflect perfectly in the viewer. It's even listed as an input but no matter what I press nothing registers in game.
Is the game running as administrator vs JG not or something like that?
@@RedLir_Live I tried it all. I did, however, notice that in my PC devices control in Windows it also does the same as in-game (i.e. it lists the Vjoy device but no inputs are registered)
