I'm getting my odin soon and keep hearing amazing things about these hall sticks. I'm glad someone finally did a side by side of the gulikit and retroid ones. I'm tempted to just run the original sticks until they stop working based on your findings.
My honest opinion is that's the safest bet. I've heard conflicting things about the Retroid sticks myself. The Odin is a great device though, especially for streaming, hope you enjoy it! And thanks for watching!
Much appreciate you for this stick replacement video! Looking to own one soon after placing an order for an RP3+. Noticed the Retroid had their own but wasnt sure how difficult it was for the Odin's to be replaced. Much appreciate you for the video!
Thank you for posting this video. I am struggling with the Gulikut sticks on the Odin pro from the exact reasons mentioned (drift, L2). Will have to try the Retroid.
Hey thanks! The Retroid sticks have held up really well. I got a replacement set of the guilikits that I'm trying to decide what to use them for. Maybe I'll try a switch lite mod sometime.
does this work for the odin 2 also? (or would I need the RP4 ones?) I have stick drift on the right analog stick and I would like to replace and was wondering if these are the ones I should get for my odin 2 as well, thank you!
I have spent some time researching, and I cannot come up with anything conclusive...So I'm going to err on the side of caution and say they are not compatible...
I'm running the game on my PC and streaming it to the Odin using Moonlight. I'm using Ryujinx emulator for that, no real tweaks, except using the Vulkan back end. If you're interested, I've got a video on the channel to install sunshine to your PC so you can stream to your devices with moonlight
I'm having the exact same issue with my gulikits. They will not stay calibrated. An even weirder issue I'm having. And this is before I did the stick change. Is when I am streaming, (Xbox or PsRemote play) my controls are completely inverted. Up is down, down is up. its absolutely insane. I cannot figure out what's causing this. Regular emulation controls fine. It's so weird.
I can't help with the inverted controls...but I might know why your controls aren't staying calibrated. If you're using them on an Odin/Retroid and you use the gamepad test screen to calibrate, those settings are not persistent across reboots. Only the joystick/trigger calibration screen will calibrate and remain persistent.
@QuirkyKirkPlays I've got an Odin Pro. And yeah I've noticed that the sticks are wonky again after restart. But with the hall sensors the regular calibration won't work will it?
@@travishamiltontattoos4635 The gulikits didn't in my experience, but the Retroid ones did. I've heard a bunch of conflicting reports on it, but I tried with magnets and other methods to no avail. Some say you can gently urge the stick towards center during the calibration screen and it will work better...Might be worth trying. Some also say you can just delete the calibrate data and it'll work, but that never worked for me
@QuirkyKirkPlays I appreciate your replies, so just in case this happens to anyone else. A factory reset fixed my inverted control issue. Which I'm SO relieved about. My Odin is my baby, I play this thing way more than my ps5, switch, pc, or anything else. This thing is the bees knees imho.
thanks for the video bro.. i do in fact have some questions . the first one is how the sticks been doing with the rp3 sticks on you odin now that its been 4 mounts is it awesome ? and also i do have same or similar issue with my odin lite and gulikit sticks the left one doesn't want to go up all the way like yours do you have any fix or trick for this issue?
Hey friend, glad you liked it! The sticks have held up really well, though i haven't had a lot of time to game as much as id like lately. But they are more or less the same as they were when I installed them. As for the not going all the way up issue...I've heard some folks say to hold down the left trigger while calibrating and it should work better. That did not work for my specific issue, but I have seen it thrown around as a solution.
If it's any consolation, those Retroid sticks I used have held up well. If you're still interested in hall sticks, I feel pretty comfortable recommending them
Incompetent you aren't lol the ribbon cable has slack to it... You did great!. I'll wait until the original ones fail so I replace mine with the gulikits I got for this ocasion
Hey so I'm finally putting on the retroid sticks. Did you have to tear the top of the cap off or do they pop off to get them to fit through the joystick holes in the Odin?
I think it comes down to taste once the manufacturing issues are resolved. If you like the feel of the default Odin sticks, go with Retroid, but if you want some more size for your thumbs, go for the Gulikit. I've really enjoyed using the Retroid ones myself. I think the Gulikit ones "might" be slightly smoother, but the difference is so small in that respect that Id chalk it up to imagination
I'm using the retrois sticks and having significantly worse issues. One of my stock sticks doesn't work at all anymore so I don't really wanna have to but those again. On top of this my screen crapped out in the first couple months of having it too. Kind of upset at the poor build quality of the system.
I also purchased the Gulikit sticks for my Odin Lite and had issues right after installing them. I didn't even bother trying to calibrating, I just took them out and reinstalled my Switch Sticks Mod I had with the Vita caps.. I all had no issues getting a full refund, I'm almost positive they came defective as well. Hope this helps others planning to make the switch. On another note, what I would like is a higher stick feel. So if anyone knows of a great mod for this please let me know. Thanks.
I got a replacement set that I really should do something with...But I'm damn sure not putting them in the Odin lol. Maybe I'll try em on joycons and see how they do

So it’s been almost a year how are the sticks holding up?
Still holding up great, no major complaints. I actually took another pair and used them in a Retroid pocket 3 as well, also working fine.

I put the gulikits on to test out and haven't had a problem with them yet! Let's see their performance this week
I'm glad they've worked for you!
I'm enjoying my Retroid ones so far, though I haven't had much time to play recently.
There's now rp4+ sticks how are those on odin lite?
how did you get mario odyssey to work on your Odin? can you share your emulator setting please :)

@@travishamiltontattoos4635 thanks for replying the solution to the inverted controls! I'd never heard that one!
For the record, I think all these Hall Sensor manufacturers have some QC/QA issues...The results for them seem inconsistent from person to person
Why did you edit out the cat 😢
Don't worry, if you stick around long enough I'm sure she will make more appearances...

What do you mean with holding down while calibrating? I'm supposed to rotate the stick how that's possible? Thanks
Got it now you talking about the triggers not the joystick I'm sorry my bad. And how is the magnet calibrating?
@@switchroot6616 I'm sorry I don't understand.
@@quirkykirkplays so what I mean is they're good right?the retroid pocket sticks?
I guess this would be indeed a Gullikit issue. My Odin Lite does exactly the same and i just returned the kit back to Amazon.

I'm asking because I have pulled pretty hard and they do not want to pull off. I'm afraid I'm gonna break em
The Retroid tops do not come off. You can put them straight through the holes no issue.
