  • How do you respond in that situation?
    During the last four years of marketing and selling the RideSafer vest, consumers have often pondered the legality of the vest. It's no wonder, I mean, how can this little vest thing be legal when all other car seats are big, bulky, heavy and plastic?
    We've shared with customers the details about how the RideSafer does meet federal standards for car seat safety and how it is a certified vest.
    The label inside the vest states the manufacturer has tested and certified the product to be meet or exceed the federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS 213). That means the RideSafer IS legal.

    I'd like to purchase one of these for use in my truck, its a ford ranger with jump seats in the back and I don't feel safe with my daughter with just the lap belt back there. I can turn off my passenger air bag in the front seat, can I put her in the front seat with this vest and the airbag turned off? Please help

    Is Gen 3 also legal to use in the US? It seems to be legal in South Korea, but not sure in the US case.

      Yes. All generations of the RideSafer are certified in the US.

    Hi I want to get this for my 4 year old daughter. how do I make sure I order the tether with the vest? I was about to order from jet.com but I didn't see a section to add the teather. so do you have a direct link to order both the vest and teather. also someone I know bought a one for her 4 year old son and it is a bit tight on him and when I tired it on my daughter it was tight on her too. so is there a larger size and if so how do I know what size to get? I want to use one for a extended period of time and was hoping I could adjust it to larger sizes as my daughter grows. thank you.

      The vest comes in two sizes; small and large. You can view a size chart and order here: shop.saferide4kids.com/products/ridesafer-travel-vest

    I like it ( I do not own one of these) but is it FAA legal? I'm looking for one for my daughter who is special needs for flying. No bulky big seats, heavy plastic etc. This looks like it would work, I think? Does it come in a 5 point harness with the crotch strap?

      It's not FAA approved yet. The RideSafer Delight comes with a crotch strap. We cannot recommend this but one customer with a child with special needs did use it on a plane and figured out a way to strap it to provide upper body support. (When it is FAA approved there will be an additional accessory to attach to the vest/tether to provide the upper body support.) The airline let him use it.

    link for legality is not working. is this nhtsa approved? where is the nhtsa rating? thank you!

    • @Saferide4kids
      @Saferide4kids  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for pointing out the bad link. We have replaced it with the full correct link. The RideSafer is certified to NHTSA's standards set in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213. NHTSA's "ratings" are ease of use comparison ratings but there are not other harness restraints to compare the RideSafer to. NHTSA is aware of and worked with the RideSafer manufacturer.

    Is this vest legal in France?

    • @Saferide4kids

      As a stand alone product the RideSafer is not legal in Europe. At one point the manufacturer had a booster/vest combination that was certified in Europe but it is no longer in production.

    I'm 11 so u think it's okay to ride in the front seat in turning 12 in a few months

      Hey there Galaxy Gamers... I wish I could say that would be ok (and so does my 12 year old son) but I can't ... The minimum is 13 years old. The reason is that most car crashes are a front impact and the further the occupant is from the point of impact, the safer they are, so back seat is best AND, as safety advocates, we really want to give your bones as much time as possible to get as strong as possible before we move you closer to the most likely point of impact... I hope that helps. I know it sucks sometimes but it's one of those rules that really is meant to put the odds in your favor in event of a severe crash and because we never know when or how bad a crash is gonna be, we put our kids in the safest possible spot in the car - for as long as we can keep them there... Don't rush it... You'll be up there before ya know it..
