    The moral of the story like you said is “I don’t like to lose”. No matter how much it frustrates you, you kept on going “for us” you say. Outstanding video!

    Right when I thought you were gonna walk away, you didn't disappoint and came back with the hacksaw to find out the truth! It made me feel so much better about the times I've tried carefully opening or taking apart things only to wind up going savage on them. Past a certain point, you just can't stop until you get to the bottom. Thank you for this entertaining one!

    Great video and really funny because I have a Prado and the recent comments make me think hot climates destroy these things.
    I have 2 wrecked sunvisors on a 2007 Prado in Australia.
    Thanks for your information in other videos about the gunk on 1GrFe oil filler caps also.
    The first time I changed the oil myself I got a shock.
    Always a pleasure to view your TH-cam posts.

    Thank you for the video. I was about to try and repair the visor on our 2003 Toyota Prado, now I know not to waste my time. Thanks Toyota for parts that are sure to fail and they can sell a new replacement at a inflated price. You have saved me a lot of time and working words. Much appreciated.

    Thanks for the time and effort for making this video. It’s worth the time to watch and find out that there is no actual fix to this visor problem. I’m so glad to know that the zip tie and binder trick is a good option since I don’t want to spend the money to buy the replacement part

    I just took apart my 2016 Highlander driver side visor. Had to use a razor to cut through the fabric on the engine side (hinge side as well) of the visor. There is a seam on that side where the two halves come together. A sharp razor separates the seam. There is a white plastic part that rides in grooves which allows the visor to extend in and out of the main rod. On that white plastic part is a metal high tension part that provide the tension on a flat segment of the rod (this is the up position). That 50 cent metal clip failed and broke on the round end. Pisses me off that without that small cheap part this will be very hard to fix. If I had that part it would easily slide over the white plastic piece and then I could glue back the visor. I wish I could find that metal part. Now it deciding to pay the Toyota stealer ship $200 buck for a new one. Nice work Toyota

  • @cawag98

    That was fun. I think they can be repaired: either with very strongly glued Velcro on the headliner or possibly a Zip/cable tie down the steel piece for added friction, or the best way, with a screw driven through the visor and then a washer and bolt attached to tighten a plastic piece which is supposed to grip the steel piece, but breaks or gets lose. I'm going to try the zip tie approach first, because it's least invasive, but on Toyo visors, there's not much room for the tie.

    • @CubNole
      @CubNole ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've thought about light tapping a toothpick or two down along that rod for added friction like you said. Will report back

    • @cawag98
      @cawag98 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CubNole please let us know how it worked. The zip tie works…so so. I’m still considering Velcro in addition but won’t do the screw idea.

    • @-DILLIGAF
      @-DILLIGAF ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cawag98 tried velcro. The first time the temperature got over 90° it "melted" adhesive everywhere both pieces fell off and got glue gunk all over the place. Not highly advisable for a long term fix

    • @cawag98
      @cawag98 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@-DILLIGAF What about velcro applied with a glue that works on fabric (not an adhesive backed velcro). I' wondering if epoxy would work? Even better: sew! If you can darn a sock or sew a button on a shirt, just take a needle and sew the velcro edges (after glueing?) to the fabric liner of the car. Maybe you can even get a velcro that will stick to the fabric liner of the car (without having another piece of velcro to grab on). Note that it will slowly turn the surface of the liner raw with all that grabbing...

    My 97 T4R driver side sun visor has a screw that adjusts the tension - but I almost started taking it apart before I found the adjustment screw.

    • @dominiquestephenson195
      @dominiquestephenson195 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So my 03 T4R’s drivers sun visor won’t stay up tight against the headliner when stowed. It wants to hang down a few inches which is real annoying. I assumed the “catch” is worn and there’s not enough friction to keep it from rotating downward. Does this adjustment screw you mention by chance tighten the hinge so it won’t rotate down so easily?

    • @cf6979
      @cf6979 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dominiquestephenson195 Yes I just turned the screw like to tighten it and it worked great. Here's what my passenger side visor looks like with the adjustment screw on the visor.

The Eclipse has this same type of sunvisor... so unless you want your life to be set to the hardest level just to reupholster the visor.
