Not only is it affordable while giving a quality not before possible for the price, but also more convenient. You don’t need to get changed into a whole suit, and allows you to wear mostly casual clothes you would normally wear.
Loving your reviews! Your genuine character makes it super fun and easy to listen to your opinion and your experience adds weight to your opinions. Very well done, and again, super fun! 👊
Honestly you can DIY whatever else you want on the tool chain if you're willing to experiment in other programs. It's not going to recieve anything other than mocopi in the app.
(just theoreetical, never tested any of it) Mocopi is fully Rokoko Studio compatible, so ... I bet it would work well paired with Rokoko gloves, if used in Rokoko studio. Maybe something for @WoodyDevs to test? :D
just got it and for my iclone workflow its actually really good. I made some stuff real fast and imported the bvh. and after a little smoothing and some added hand gestures it looks pretty solid.
Has the 50 hz choppyness and drifting problem on slow movements after a few minutes requiring recalibration been fixed? I saw some videos about this 4 months ago but maybe the software improved these things with some sort of AI or something since then
Would love to see your experience bringing this recorded mocap data into blender, applying to model, and exporting to game engine as FBX. I suspect we could transfer these to an AutoRig pro rig. Very cool, thanks!
I was hoping this would be the thing for my VRchat dancing.. but sadly must wait and see what HTC vive wireless trackers can do when they are out. Thanks for sharing ! P.S As a Vtuber only I can see good use with these, but not for FBT in VRchat.
Probably the reason why sony wants you to use a Iphone 14 is due to bluetooth version 5.2 or higher (14 has even 5.3 if I'm not mistaken) Since BT 5.2 it supports low latency bluetooth. This should explain the beter results on the iPhone 14. It's also recommended to turn off 2.4ghz wifi and only use 5ghz so there is less interference with Bluetooth. (and added bonus that 5ghz wifi has a lower latency again for when your streaming your motion capture data)
Hypothetically, one could hook up a VR headset to the ASUS ROG Ally with mobile network connection and play PC version of VRChat outside with Sony's Mocopi Full Body Tracking. I can't wait to see somebody smart pulling it off.
that's so exiciting! thank you for this review, quick & efficient, liked it! edit: i've watched around 10 english reviews, and none are optimistic as you are for this, but seriously, how easy to setup& accessible these FBT options are!! i wish it was available in France because I'm looking for AR too and tiktok challenges, and i feel this could be the right solution, without the hastle of a big setup !
Jumping worked great! Sitting worked okay-ish in VR chat. Sitting is always kind of hard with non-optical systems. I’d need to do further testing for rolling - I’m not sure.
I'm having an issue where if i extend my arms straight, the avatars are still bent. same with if i try and raise them straight up in the air, but the avatar only bend their elbows in a "stick em up" pose
help me sir how can blender use after save date mocopi can not use another character from blender or another software like mixamo web motion can use any software you want
I have spent so much money on 3 Kinect 360 devices and 1 Kinect Xbox One, along with the mocap software to connect to my PC, all the cables, and stands. Then, I saw Mocopi, and I feel sad.
This is appealing to me for the simple fact that I won't lose sleep if it breaks on me, where as the thing that stopped me from saving up for the high end motion capture suits is because I kept hearing about parts breaking, and then you'd have to send them in for replacement while under the warranty. And I'm like "mother fu****, you're telling me those expensive suits break regularly WITHIN the first year? Hell with that!!"
Sadly, I don’t know a way to get them in. But! As I said in the video, there’s nothing stopping you from recording other systems separately and combining them later.
It would've been cool if you showed some more raw mocap footage and how it looks. Mocopi certainly seems interesting but I'm worried it's not good enough quality wise for animation and filmmaking.
LOL that is trully amazing, for VR,for game development and so much more How much does it cost? And im learning animation for almost 1 week, loving to do it by hand on mouse, with this improvement i could do a lot, them its time to train and learn how to do the action properly, who knows one day i get one of these kits and learn on internet kungfu, katana fight and much more. That is trully amazing!!
There is one HUGE problem with Mocopi. The Mocopi-App without which the Mocopi-kit is useless, does not work in certain regions. A message will come up in Google Play or App Store saying: Not available in your region. Så Sony has sold a product, that is totally useless and dysfunctional, and there is no other option than to return the kit. This is totally absurd, since motion capture has nothing to do with regions. Another problem is, that the support site, that Sony gives, is fake. No-one is answering mails. Sony Corporation has a problem.
An overpriced accessory tech that required an overpriced phone for overpriced but cool tech like vr? Damn this is so much requirement and money just to show off full body tracking in one app

Why thank you very much!
THESE ARE SWEET! Thank you for the thorough review!
I’ve just had these a few days. Definitely more of a first look! But happy to help.
@@WoodyDevs it was enough for us to buy it haha.
Oh yea I had forgot Sony had a mocap system. Would this work with any set of mocap gloves like Manus or StretchSense did they say?
Honestly you can DIY whatever else you want on the tool chain if you're willing to experiment in other programs. It's not going to recieve anything other than mocopi in the app.

@@TheAF01 yup just actually saw on Rokokos channel they have it working with their gloves and faceware which is cool

OOOOH! exciting stuff. ive been waiting for more info about these ones too

That's really interesting. I knew there were hardware reasons, but they were hard to research with so little time.
Such a great video, I hope I can get my hands on these at some point!
It boggles the mind that they still haven’t made it usable in VR.
It is slightly useable, but its pretty bad
3:29 why does it stutters so much in VRChat?
excellent review Woody !! fair and balanced, as they say
That stash 😂👍👨🏻cool 3:46
rly cool! would to see how they compare against the vives
For the low budget Devs, this looks like a solid option
Hypothetically, one could hook up a VR headset to the ASUS ROG Ally with mobile network connection and play PC version of VRChat outside with Sony's Mocopi Full Body Tracking. I can't wait to see somebody smart pulling it off.
If I only had a spare $700
Or just use slime.

Thanks for the review! All the examples appear to be standing... can you sit, stand up, jump, roll, etc?
Jumping worked great! Sitting worked okay-ish in VR chat. Sitting is always kind of hard with non-optical systems. I’d need to do further testing for rolling - I’m not sure.
@@WoodyDevs thank you for answering 😃
"What do you think of when you see these 6 little dots?"
Reminds me of when the Japanese VTubers were trying them out on TH-cam a while back. 🙂
I can’t find the app
I'm having an issue where if i extend my arms straight, the avatars are still bent. same with if i try and raise them straight up in the air, but the avatar only bend their elbows in a "stick em up" pose
Does it work with quest 2 or pico 4 apps and games?
How much cleanup did it need? What about foot sliding?
I want this in digital corridor hands
DAMN!!!! This is perfect for me and like you said for lowpoly and PS1 style characters
Dude, you would have a blast with this. You could also put your VRMs in it.
@@WoodyDevs I hope a get my hands on a set I have a lot of ideas
Great video! Bus mocap stream when? 😂
Would you recommend these over the tundras or vive trackers? I’d imagine the price differences come with pros and cons
Nice stache! Great video, thanks
4:30 Jack Black? lol Great review bud!
How to captuer ur finger motion
help me sir how can blender use after save date mocopi can not use another character from blender or another software like mixamo web motion can use any software you want
This is better than my $2,000 Rokoko Smartsuit. What a waste. Sheesh.
Really ? Why 😢
No
I have spent so much money on 3 Kinect 360 devices and 1 Kinect Xbox One, along with the mocap software to connect to my PC, all the cables, and stands. Then, I saw Mocopi, and I feel sad.
What is the drift like?
How is the Knee and Elbow tracking? I remember VRChat does not do well with just Waist - Feet and Head - Hands tracking...
VRchat seems to ignore everything from the Mocapi above the waist. But I could be wrong here.
Do they export to blender as fbx?
This is really cool. I heard it sold out in Japan fairly quickly
This is appealing to me for the simple fact that I won't lose sleep if it breaks on me, where as the thing that stopped me from saving up for the high end motion capture suits is because I kept hearing about parts breaking, and then you'd have to send them in for replacement while under the warranty. What helmet are u using for your phone? Or is that home cooked?
That's the standard deviation / radical variance HMC
Great video Woody!
What about the fingers? I’d love to create MoCap Animations but without finger animations?
Sadly, I don’t know a way to get them in. But! As I said in the video, there’s nothing stopping you from recording other systems separately and combining them later.
I want to use this to be a “vtuber” of sorts but I just use a mocap model to make videos rather than my face
It would've been cool if you showed some more raw mocap footage and how it looks. Mocopi certainly seems interesting but I'm worried it's not good enough quality wise for animation and filmmaking.
does it only work with VRM models?
In the app, it seems VRM is the way. You can retarget to anything else after the fact.
Can i transfer the data to blender for retargeting? Is it able to export bvh or fbx file?
Bvh!
@@WoodyDevs thanks you. In your opinion is mocopi better then kinect based mocap? I don't know whether should I buy or not..
Iv seen no update on this product. So weird.
You should try climbing wall! (just a small ledge)
This is awesome! Great job woody.
also First
Lol. Thanks Steaz.
I need one of these so bad

other than vr chat and vtubers, this is useless as the walk cycles are awful
