  • While the mountain biking world continues to get bigger cassettes with more gears, you have to ask yourself do you need all those gears or could something simpler and cheaper work nearly as well or possibly better? I will do a simple test for 3 weeks on 3 1x9 or 1x8 drivetrains with clutches for less than $150 for derailleur, cassette, shifter, and chain.
