      The baking powder wasn't the issue, I made a half batch and realized the next day after thinking about it, I added to much water, duh. Thanks for your prompt response, made more and it turned out right. 😊💚

    I’m Puerto Rican, and following a Keto Lifestyle is difficult enough without beans and rice. My simple guilty pleasure is pan Al horno con queso y cafe con leche. I miss toasted bread in the oven so much, you have no idea. I’m ordered the coffee grinder this week! I’ll let you know how it went! Thanks so much for the recipe!

    I made this. It has a nice texture and tastes good with the garlic butter. It also toasts well in my toaster oven. I've made dozens of keto breads and this is probably one of the easiest breads out there to make. If you like coconut flour and flaxseed then I would suggest you make it

    Question, you mention in your recipe ingredient list psyllium husk (finely ground)I have discovered there are two different kinds of psyllium and although the names are similar how they actually work in baking is completely different one makes a terrific bread or dough but the other kind you will end up with a very liquid soupy consistency. One is called “Psyllium Husk POWDER”(which is the one I think you are referring to??)and the other is just called “Psyllium Husk”. I have found that the Psyllium Husk POWDER is the kind to purchase because the Psyllium husk (which appears finely ground when I open the bag but it’s definitely not like a flour or powder consistency)which is the whole husk seems to have a lot of tiny hard almost seed like pieces in it and I don’t think that even with a coffee grinder I would be able to get it into a fine enough powder that would be similar to the one I purchased called “ORGANIC PSYLLIUM HUSK POWDER”. So I would highly recommend purchasing the powder form and I would also suggest that it’s kept in a well sealed container because it loves to absorb moisture. Also I personally think it’s very important to use Organic for this particular ingredient because a lot of psyllium growing in the fields can be sprayed with pesticides.
    I think it’s very important to add the word “powder” to your ingredient list and not the finely ground because if people use the psyllium husk they are going to end up extremely disappointed because they will have a soupy mess. These ingredients are expensive and I know anyone new to keto would not have any idea likely what psyllium husk even is let alone a simple difference in the name can yield such tremendously different results! I hope you read this in the spirit in which it’s intended as just to provide some additional help and information.
    I’m soooo excited I can’t wait to try this recipe!! My hubby LOVES garlic bread with cheese so I know he’s going to thoroughly enjoy this with my homemade keto lasagna!!

    • @lowcarbrecipeideas
      @lowcarbrecipeideas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Leanne, thanks for the info. Yes, psyllium husk comes in 2 forms - pre grounded into powder or husks which is more commonly used and easily available. We just need to grind the husks using a coffee bean or seeds grinder until half its original volume (I grind in bulk and store in the fridge).The end result wd not be powdery as you rightfully pointed out but a lot finer. This allows the psyllium to absorb the water more effectively. The pre grounded ones are super fine and more concentrated hence you need to reduce the amount otherwise the bread will be very dense. I am glad you're going to give this recipe a try thanks again😊

    I tried making it this morning. For some reason my dough after adding the wet ingredients was very wet and sticky. I then added a bit more coconut flour, flax meal and a little more pre- ground psyllium husk powder. After baking for 50 mins the inside is still quite wet and not soft snd fluffy like yours. I did put the flax meal and pre- ground psyllium husk powder in my superblender to make it even finer. Please tell me what could be my problem?

      I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and I have been using organic whole psyllium husks from Country Farm all along and never have any problem with it. The origin is India. Did you grind the whole psyllium husks until half (50%) of its original volume? It should not be more or less. Please check out this video to understand better about psyllium husk for better success;
      th-cam.com/video/_bnCwudgFt4/w-d-xo.html

    • @lowcarbrecipeideas
      @lowcarbrecipeideas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cherochow NOW brand should be good. You need to measure that the whole psyllium husks is ground until half its original volume then weigh it. This is the most effective for absorbing the water. If you grind it too fine then it will be more concentrated like the powdered form and if you use the same 27g it is too much so the bread will be dense and wet. There's a lot of confusion on this that's why I made the video on Psyllium Husks VS Powder which I sent you the link earlier

    • @cherochow

    Thank you so much for your recipes. I have made your recipes for dinner rolls/buns but did add yeast as well as cider vinegar, and used brown flaxseed meal (that I reground to a smoother flour) and the buns came out lovely and light. Then made your baguette recipe and used cider vinegar (without yeast) and reground brown flaxseed meal. The baguettes are still ok, but much more heavier and dense. They're ok sliced but too heavy I think to eat a whole baguette as a sub or something similar to oneself. Is it better to keep adding the yeast and cider vinegar or should I have another go at baguettes without the yeast and see how I go?

    • @lowcarbrecipeideas

      Did you add yeast just for flavor? If you make the baguettes smaller then it will be less denser.

    • @deborahmcmahon3245

      @@lowcarbrecipeideas no, not really. Before Keto I used to make a couple of bread loaves (with yeast) a week so not used to making bread with no yeast. The baguettes were only about 5inch long, so not sure why so heavy compared to your little bun/roll recipe. I'll probably have another go at baguette recipe but try with the yeast to see if they rise a little more, which might make them less heavy/sense. I'll let you know how I go. Thanks ever so much for such awesome keto recipes, that include ingredients that you can find easy enough and not have to purchase online.

      Flaxseed meal is ground from whole flaxseeds but the texture is quite coarse. To make this keto bread, you need to grind the flaxmeal further until a finer texture so that the bread will be lighter. You can use flaxmeal but the bread will be much denser.
