In zimbabwe, homes increase in size and value toward the north. unlike the episodes in zimbabwe, the wealthy neighborhoods are concentrated in Harare's northern suburbs, home to the more affluent population of the city including former president Robert Mugabe.

Those Jacaranda trees make Zim look stunning,I like how our culture values importance of trees and building around them instead of destroying them. Our love for trees comes from the indigenous San people who valued trees.Proud to be a Zimbabwean,let’s tackle corruption and Zim can become the crown jewel of Africa again,minus sanctions. Southern Africa is going through an upsurge in growth as Mozambique is now experiencing economic growth,Zambia is also going through a boom,as well as Namibia,so Zim is the final one to take off.

It was the white colonialists that grew the jacarandas in what was then the white neighborhoods. You won’t find Jacarandas in Mbare or Zengeza, All these neighborhoods Borrowdale, Borrowdale Brooks, Hogati Hills, Graystone Park etc were designed and built by the whites for the whites. That’s why as soon as a black makes money they don’t build in the neighborhood they grew up. They move to the suburbs the whites built for themselves. What you’re looking at as a country being built on the colonial framework where the rich are very rich and the poor very poor. The more things change the more they stay the same. Only the top 1 percent of Zimbabweans live there. Not pioneers of great industry but the politically well connected. The rest? Well…
@@chrisv.noire.6388 Wrong you bigot,Jacaranda trees are found in other parts of Zimbabwe,if you go to Mutare you will find them in black neighbourhood,in fact Mutare is black city anyways so it’s blacks who live in those nice places with Jacaranda trees. We have always planted trees long before Europeans came,if you go to Great Zimbabwe you see building around trees ,same in villages. So get over your WS crap and watch some whitey wash colonial videos.
One bit I miss, is driving towards City or Avondale via Pari Hospital, when Jacarandas are in full bloom.
Zambia is worse than Zimbabwe in terms of infrastructure and the people. Namibia has its advantage due to its unique landscape by the atlantic ocean on one side and nambia desert on the other side, as well its few population. But people have different tastes and likes. For me, I would rather choose Zimbabwe.
Nigerian real estate developers has a lot to learn from other African countries, as a Nigerian I am very ashamed of the houses we call mansions in Nigeria

The gap between the rich and the poor keeps widening. Harare is a land of paradox it's like people living in two different countries. It never was like that in the 80s and 90s. Something is not right.
I think people should just built beautiful houses wherever they are taking advantage of the decrease in prices

That is because there is no middle class anymore. It's either you are rich or poor. And townships need to be developed as well not only in the suburbs.
Purple Jacaranda Trees everywhere..it used to be a Harare City Council policy that every resident should plant Jacaranda tree on their property for the aesthetics of the area....u get fined by council if u are seen cutting down trees without permission from the forestry Commission...u are allowed to cut trees if they are old and pose a danger to people...its still a policy to plant trees on your property (not necessarily Jacaranda).

Why is Zimbabwe so misrepresented? These top five richest neighborhoods look nicer than most of our top five in Nairobi (personal opinion). The city of Harare too looks the same or even better than Nairobi CBD. Again, looks can be deceiving but my perception is that Harare is one nice city.
It's called politics. Misinformation on Zimbabwe became a kind of war after land reform.
Western media propaganda used to isolate and literally airbrush Zimbabwe out of sight because how dare we take our land back from their white people!😏
Because Zimbabwe is home to the most precious minerals like Chrome,Platinum,Diamonds,Gold,Uranium,Lithium and the West wants control of those resources,so they sabotage the country with sanctions coz they want to install a puppet Regime in power so they can gain hegemony on that mineral wealth.I have not even mentioned the untapped oil and gas reserves which are in huge numbers.

Zimbabwe collapsed. Kenya didn't. Zimbabwe has a greater wealth and poverty deficits, GINI coefficient, and it's fallen behind from the 90s when it was one of the largest economies. And if you want to know the wealth of a nation, look at it's poorest.

Love the fact the the zoning limits how tall the buildings can be, no taller than 3 storeys plus the tree's have to be taller than your building structure!
Definitely Zimbabwe is going to be one my destinations in Africa to explore for my real estate portfolio!

Yes, Zimbabwe is super strict with zoning, planning permission and building standards. Not just in the top flight areas, across the board. They even do material inspection to ensure it meets the building code standards.
The upside is that even if you're buying rather than building your own, you know you're getting a solid structure.

In Zim we love trees,hence when we build we always build around trees and never destroy them,we love our Jacaranda trees and they give some beautiful scenery.There is a road in Harare going to Mt Pleasant that is completely covered with Jaracaranda trees,so when driving you feel as if you are driving through a covered tunnel,the views are so stunning in that road.

Yes most Zimbabweans don't know about these areas because only a couple of thousand can stay there and can afford to rent or buy houses there... Most Zimbabweans don't even know about these areas... Even teachers and most doctors can't even afford to rent there

Most of the people are hard workers or had good jobs which paid well when things were still good and acquired those properties. they have nothing to do with politics..I'm not rich like them but I always try to see the good in people instead of painting everyone with the same brush..Some people in this difficult economy and hostile environment are working very hard until they make it. You are busy pointing fingers at others..what are you doing to improve yourself.. Remember in this life some people are just naturally blessed..zvinhu zvavo zvinoendeka..and some people nomatter how hard they work they are just stagnant.
I lived for 30 years in and around Harare, growing up there and of course recognise some of the names mentioned, but my goodness, like everywhere, how things have changed. I can well remember occasionally riding my beloved horse "Mr.B" through the "Borrowdale Brook" area, when it was mostly just "smallholdings" (semi-agricultural/market-garden operations) with normal sized homes on larger acreage, usually about 5 acres upwards, or open undeveloped land..

beautiful homes...however if you are paying $1mill for a home, then you shouldnt be driving on dirt roads...the basic ammenties should factor into the price of the homes...i would love to know how reliable the electricity and high speed internet is there. i see lots of potential there but for those prices the infrastructure should be up to par

Wow. Very big, modern and beautiful homes. I like the fact that they have big yards that do not remind you how much you have to lose weight.
Point of correction.Highlands area part of it is now a commercial zone and the minimum is 2 floors .There is what they call Enterprise Corridor and if your property is within its boundaries,new properties have to be double storey and upwards.Architect's view.

In Zimbabwe it looks more like England or America. That's where the white influence comes in . The Architecture we have in Zimbabwe is nothing to do with African influence it's all western . That's why I mentioned the white population as they contributed to town planning etc. In Ghana and Nigeria the town planning is poor hence it's not that nice even in billionaire areas . I'm ZIMBABWEAN and an Architect in the UK so I know what I'm talking about .

It's absolutely crazy to me to say that Zimbabwe is not a poor country because there are some millionnaires or billionaires across a few neighborhoods in Harare. The inequalities are staggering and the quality of life of the overwhelming majority of Zimbabweans is very poor due to abysmal leadership.

All the places you have shown are beautiful, especially that they are covered with greenery. But the one that appeal to me is the West Prop development. I like it because the development will cator for the working class. Some people like me can't afford the big mansions however I want to live in a morden nice area, of which West Prop will offer that once it is completed.
I am Zimbabwean and I also get shocked about what people believe about my country. This country is beautiful. What people need to understand is that Zim is a largely informal economy so what is reported on the news is different from what is on the ground.

Jacaranda trees- their origins are South American….Zimbabwean and South African city avenues are lined with them , so beautiful when they are in full bloom.
My street growing up was Jacaranda Ave in Clonsilla, Gweru. We also had Jacaranda trees on our plot.

I think in Zimbabwe we tend to have houses on larger plot sizes compared to a lot of other African countries I have been too. This is probably due to a range of factors such as that we like to stay at home a lot more, or maybe we just have larger division of residential land and etc, as compared to a country like South Africa were I've have noticed houses tend to be build on smaller land sizes. Thank you for making these videos about Zimbabwe, they are very hard to come by, especially if it is in Zimbabwe. God bless.

The cities are well planned and there's kinda of like a hierarchy in the use of land whereby it is zoned into 3 different areas ie. the high density areas (low income earners), medium density areas (medium income earners) and finally the low density areas where the affluent people reside. Having bought an apartment at Millenium Heights, am super excited with this development, emphasizing on live,work,shop and play all in one, it's turning out to be value for money.
This Millenium Park which is overall name of the whole area covering Pokugara houses and Millenium Heights apartments, will indeed be a game changer.
The way they proposing to protect the wetlands by adding more greenery to it will turn this area into a paradise.
Wish I can keep buying into more and more of their developments.

Will it not be the case though that the apartments look great as built and designed, but then people will start fixing burglar bars all over the windows and doors? When I saw the lovely garden flats in Hillside that I lived in they looked terrible compared to when new, with barbed wire and burglar bars covering the windows. Once the bars start rusting it looks terrible.
It's going to turn into a dump. I don't know why I'm saying this. Perhaps it's my ancestors. It's not going to be well maintained. Everything being promised is not going to happen. Like, the white guy is going to go to prison or something and his company will crumble. The people who bought there do not have enough money to live there and maintain a lifestyle. It's going to turn into a ghetto. It's what we see.
