Yes, they already have adaptive bots, it's literally right there on the site as an option, it plays better if you're winning and worse if you're losing. It's been there for years
Usually if there's a weird rating for a bot on Green Pawn, it's going to be inhumanly powerful and it really delivered, lol! Although it would be interesting if they made the worst possible bot for kicks one time. Like something which plays the worst engine move every time in that it'll somehow force the player into mating it if there's an opportunity for it to do so.
unfortunately chess engines are made to ignore obviously bad moves to save on processing power so it would need some adjusting to the actual engine itself

Mighty Martin seems like a Martin that really likes trying scholars mate, at least thats been my experience. Which is pretty funny, Martin just started attempting scholars mate consistently and gained 250 elo 😆
I might try challenging The Questionmaster one day. I've been able to beat the max level bot consistently so I should have some chance. Edit: you should have tried the cow opening, maybe you could've confused The Questionmaster :D.
Thank you so much for posting this. I have tried multiple times to beat the chessbots with rating “0”, including the question master, to no avail. It’s reassuring that you with rating 2600 didn’t do much better, although at some point it looked like you had a slight advantage.
Those bot rating numbers are found to be only nominal. An indication of rating for bot and human baaed on the game played is available after the game and is no lower than 100 and no higher than 10,000, and rarely, if ever, matches the nominal rating number.

When you said that the game was like playing a 2800 player. You were only 150 short with your guess. That's pretty accurate for a guess 1/2 way through the game.
I feel like the low level chess bots take a little while to start goofing up. They start out pretty well or so it feels to me and then after they put me in my place and make me feel dumb then the mistakes start happening like you’d have expected in the first place.

The bot is obviously based upon the riddler. We need to give Mittens a cowl and have Mittens become BatCat to fight against the Question Master. I did get to play Robert Hess when he was a kid and I got beat pretty bad.
I knew this was a strong bot so while playing it for the first time when I was able to maintain 0.0 equality until move 35 (with a queen and symmetrical pawns end game) I already declared myself the winner xD The game went on for 30 more moves until the inevitable happened. had accuracy 86 vs 96.
I could beat this bot blindfolded whilst chasing a squirrel up a tree and making coffee at the same time. I will stir the coffee with the bots queen I just captured. The bot will be so disappointed that it will climb the tree where the squirrel is, marry it and give birth to three little pawns who refuse to play chess anywhere else than in the crown of a tree.
I think it is terrible to release a bot like that. Someone has never played chess before, so tries it against the lowest-rated bot around, then gets annihilated in a few moves. The beginner might have won against an honestly 500-rated bot and gradually become a good player. Instead, the poor dupe will never play again.
I literally just played this bot after being released and I was so pissed to get shredded! But watching your vid just made me realize how good this bot really is LOL

I played that new chess bot I was doing fantastic until right at the end. Then I played the Cramling bot 3 times today and just barely lost. But I Knew I would lose against the Cramling bot.

@kylezo there's also engines with this feature. Dragon for example does this. It will adjust its strength based on how you play.

I think the question master was added for GM's to play against a bot that could be beaten at high ratings by making a mistake on 1 move?
The zero rating was just your standard lure. Now, try again. Watch the rating change again.
