Momma Cramling is definitely a GM. She takes one look and starts planning 4 steps ahead with multiple possibilities, weighing each scenario, then choosing the best move. Playing the center, planning blacks possible strategies. Absolutely impressive logic.
I'm impressed about how much she is always thinking about the opponent's plans first. I'm 2300 and I'm sure I could improve if I manage to add this skill to my thinking process (Like I'm doing it but not at this level haha)! Even if the bot played dubious in the opening phase, I'm convinced about how instructive is the game and listening to the commentary. Thank you!
@jtidema "I think they probably play together closer to 2700" Doesn't work that way either. There's no addition, average, trending, or sum of ELO ratings. Best moves in any group often comes from player with highest ELO rating. Likewise, player with only 200 (two hundred) ELO points more from it's opponent have roughly 75% chance to win the game. With that in mind, Pia has a roughly 90% chances to win every chess game against her daughter. Considering very dubious early queen move from bot (most likely calculated and played to "confuse" opponent), both sides played excelent positional game.
I really enjoy how vocal your mom is about her thoughts. Reminds me of math lectures where Profs explained every thought while conducting proofs. It makes it enjoyable to follow these fast and complex decision being made on the board
She is a lovely young woman, and a delight to hear her expound on her passion. I’m a little disappointed frankly that she was born in Spain to a Spanish father as Señorita Lopez, and chose to dye her hair blonde and call herself Swedish after her mom but that is her decision. But I’m sure Spain laments the loss.
I just love how excited to play chess mother and daughter are. And how giddy they seem every time they make a move. Like they can barely contain their joy and not burst out laughing with every move. Awesome!
That was great. Always enjoy watching these. So easy to listen to your mom explain the moves. Something about the way she explains makes you want to listen real hard.
Absolutely very good instructive commentary on how one should play the game.A must watch for anyone who wants to learn the game.Thank you both for the great analysis.
they’re so good it took me like 40min to get through the video bc i kept having to pause to play out mama cram’s hypotheticals bc i cant visualize chess notation and then once i comprehended what she was saying id need a moment to pog and recollect myself
I think your Mum is great, having seen her in many of your other videos. I knew she was good, but I didn't know she became the #1 rated player in the world for a brief period back in the 80s! That's amazing! You must be so proud of your parents!
Pia correctly predicted the 2700 bot's whole lines of moves including correctly predict how it's gonna respond to her response. Her brain is basically a 2700 chess engine here
You should let your mom do rapid Speedruns till 2300ish and teach us her repertoire and with her being so good at explaining we viewers would benefit a lot from those vids. Maybe your mom is too busy tho so just thought for food here
Anna is so lucky to have parents who make excellent coaches. I love watching her with her parents. It's like getting free coaching lessons from grandmasters.
I'm amazed at Pia's ongoing analysis of the game, and especially taking into account what what her opponent is doing. And Anna is always ready to charge ahead!
14:20 can someone please explain to a 16xx rated guy why Pf4 was not considered here? Seems to me that this would allow to exchange bishops on white's terms, not on the bot's. and creates a convenient opening for the rook
So far, this is my favorite chess TH-cam video. I love everything about it. I love how Anna, and her mother, explain their plans and thinking. I love how it's a battle of man versus machine. I love to watch an excellent mother/daughter pair, work together. We have two individuals who have studied this game with such devotion, working together. I love the fact that the machine didn't win, and I truly love Pia's accent! I love everything about this video.
Man I can’t wait to understand what’s going on. I am a beginner so these videos commentating on the matches really help explain why people move pieces the way they do
Hey, mom just helped me win a game with one of her end game techniques!!!!! Thanks Anna, once again your video's bring joy to my day!!!!! It' an awesome thing you do.
I would enjoy hearing Pia commentate chess tournaments. She is very expressive and eloquent.
Yeah, the current comentators are super pretentious in the most akward way possible
@@magicjoaco i agree with that 💀
She has such a comforting, non-judgemental way about her.
Absolutely. She does it very naturally, it's almost as if she's just thinking out loud.
Her commentary on Anna's games at Rilton was excellent. The videos are still on Twitch.
I love how, before Mom makes any move, she analyzes and takes into account the best response from her opponent. A lesson for us all.
True bro 🙌🙌👍
The way she sees the moves in her head is so impressive.

That joke will be awesome if Anna decides to become a mom when she's a little older.
Your mum is awesome. It must be like having Gandalf on your side.

She’s not THAT old 😅
For real! Listening to her consider that her opponent is an AI.... I wouldn't want to cross her on the board...

Why you lying bro?
Pia: The bot will do this.
Bot: I guess I will.
I thought the bot was listening to their conversations and doing the moves Pia thought were most logical.
Pia was finding best moves for both sides 😂
It was Pia's brain running the bot after all. That's why it could only draw
[Bot makes strange move]
Pia: It was very logical.
[Bot makes yet another strange move]
Pia: Oh, yeah, that was very logical move.
Pia > Bot.
A Pia video!!! Your Mum is wonderful, really love these videos, thank you!
Say whatever you want about the bot's accuracy, but the fact he was able to draw a 4400 player is absolutely incredible!

She'll talk about 5 moves before my brain can catch up to understanding the first.
imagine her at her prime, with youth and hunger on her side. Itd love to hear the kind of recaps that players do nowdays in her prime

I learned a lot from this video. Specifically, I learned to never challenge Pia Cramling to a chess match. Man, she's sneaky.
Sneaky seems like a wrong word to use
and mean 😅
She's definitely brutal lol
Your mom is so humble! That is amazing! So much depth in her!
I’m not sure why TH-cam recommended your channel to me but never in 100 years did I think I would be so interested in watching chess 😂
Same happened to me, then started learning and playing it.
I've never seen a bot go for an early draw before. Strong game from the Cramlings!
Wow, what a treat to get your mom's thoughts on the game as it's going!
