My wife and I are where your were then. Toto 15.6 years was put down due to age related problems on Dec 9 2023. He was our everything. He lived to make us laugh his entire life and he hated it when we would had harsh words or use bad language. He had learned to talk a little over the years and if you asked him what was wrong, he would answer you saying "I dont know" which is a phrase we never taught him to say. If we used any of our grandchildren's names in conversation he would stop whatever it was the was doing and get very excited. His being gone has affected our four cats. They looked all over for him and if I play any videos of a Yorkie barking, they start looking for him. I work a day job and part time night job and if I told him I had to go to work on the night job he started pouting and wouldn't even look at me if I tried to get him to kiss me. He was the smartest dog I ever owned in my life. My wife and I still cry in the evenings or if we go to town to eat where we used to take him with us every Sunday his entire life.
dan4466 I’m so very sorry for your loss. We lost my granddaughter’s yorkie we had her for 10 yrs she died of congestive heart failure. My girl has just turned 13 I cannot stand the idea of her passing. I have said they better dig her grave deep because I think I could just join her,
Agreed. Got 2 and they are the world to me. Roxy, if I say brush, she goes to the brush and asks to be brushed. Leo, is my dads shadow. Wherever my dad goes, that's where he is. If Leo wants attention he rolls on his back and waves his front paws up and down.
@@sigisoltau6073 Aww, that's so cute! Mine and my husband's two Yorkies, Winston Chandler and Godfrey Archibald (brothers), passed away as older gentlemen and we still miss them.
@@carriestandridge4043 My condolences. Not looking forward to that with our two yorkies. Just thinking about it hurts. Roxy is currently in my room next to me sleeping, she's having a nervous episode. Saw or heard something and now she's uneasy.
@@sigisoltau6073 Poor little Roxy. I hope she'll be okay soon. I slept on the floor with my little Archie because he missed his brother (who had passed) and didn't want to be on the bed with us that night. He had such severe separation anxiety that I quit my job and became a stay-at-home mom for him. I took him everywhere with me (shopping, library, dentist, once even to the grocery store in my handbag-he was 4 pounds=tiny and my husband couldn't babysit him that day) because I told him I would never leave him alone again, and I never did. He became famous in our town and so many people talked to me who wouldn't have if he hadn't been with me, you know? My most precious memories of my life are with my boys.
@@carriestandridge4043I know what's it's like to lose a beloved pet. She'll be fine, she sometimes has these episodes where she sees/hears something and she's on her nerves. I think it's a little related to that one severe thunderstorm we had a few years ago. It was the worst I've seen in 33 years. The lightning flash was so bright, even with my eyes covered it was blinding. Same with the thunder, ears covered it was still deafening. You could feel the walls and floors vibrate a little each time. The whole sky was covered in sheet lightning every few minutes. It sounded like WW1 or WW2. Lightning struck a house just two houses down the street from us. Luckily the power was of when it hit, however, when it came back on that's when all hell broke lose. I can't say what it sounded like cause I was asleep by then, but from what I was told it was loud. Really loud. Yeah, I think Roxy got some trauma from that. She's somewhat ok now but sometimes like now she's got phases, during which we comfort her as best we can. After 1 or 2 hours and some sleep she's back to her cheerful self
Myron Woodson I would love to have one but I’m now aloud too and I’m too young to move out but when I’m older it’s a definite yes that I’m getting one!
Only a very loving God could have created such a perfect little creature to be a loyal companion and beloved pet for humans. AlwAYs so eager to be with and please the ones they love. I miss my precious little bundle of love, my dear little tiny yorkie so very much.
I gotta say I'm impressed how intelligent this breed is. Not sure if I'd own one but damn these dogs are smarter than most other dogs. P.S. my brothers Yorkie would come running to let him know when his daughter was having a seizure. Incredible lil dog !
That video is so cute!!! Precious little puppy!!! Enjoy all of your time with him. I am still grieving from the loss of my little Buster. 2 years now and I still miss him... 😢
I play hide & seek literally everyday with my Yorkie. He sniffs me right out I need to find new hiding places. I will occasionally hide on top of the bed because he can't see me there, but I will hear him running back and forth. He tries to jump up to see if he sees me it's so cute 🤣
I used to play this too with my two yorkies. I would put the male inside my room and half-closed the door so he couldn't get away temporarily. And then before I started hiding, I commanded the female to open the door for her male and then I ran quickly to my hiding spot. So the female opened the door and the male came out running to find me. To my surprise, they always got me somehow.
I used to have a yorkie that loved to play hide and go seek she would hide underneath the blanket, then poke her head out, and you had to say peek a boo. She was so cute, just like a child.
Pretty smart dog breed i would say especially playing hide n seek with a Yorkie! Btw it cracked me up when he thought Lisa was in the drawers & barking at it 😂👍
He is so adorable. My sister has a Yorkie and i just adore that dog. Everytime i see her, she lights up and so do i! I spent last summer with Hippu (the dog) at our summerhouse and she would come to my bed to sleep with me. My profile picture is my sisters other dog, Tuisku, and he is a Coton de Tulear. He was also with us. Do i need to tell that he is also a great dog....cause he is ;)
Sorry for the late reply! From what I've experienced and heard, socializing early and often is important. Teaching them not to bite or bark. Brushing their teeth. And giving them nutrients to prevent LP injuries. What did you learn?

That's a great question Wesley! This video is the first time we played it indoors. But the game started on walks when we wanted to get Paxton to keep going instead of smelling every distraction on the way to the park. One of us would hide a few houses up when Paxton wasn't paying attention and then the other would say "where's so and so?" "go find him/her". He naturally got it because he usually tracks us to make sure the whole pack is together.
My Tyson came to me when his last owner died. His wife didn't want him and wanted to put him down. So he came to me temporary for few weeks to find him a home. 4 years later he is still hear. Two days in I knew that he was home.
Yorkies have such adorable sounding footsteps.

It’s amazing how attached we become to our dogs. Your statement reminds me why I committed a few years ago to making homemade dog food.
