I don't know if someone told u already and it's too late anyhow... BUT! There's an airport that's called U-Tapao Airport in Pattaya/Rayong like 40 min from Central Pattaya that does not only take u to Phuket, but it's also an international airport so u could go to Singapore or Japan from there lol.
Hi Sean, never realized about the water fights to celebrate New Years there. That one guy with the water hose really meant business. Have to say that people took it pretty well and I guess people are used to it. The restaurant that you ate in reminded me of the famous Rain Forest Cafe in Downtown Chicago, IL. Glad that you took us along on your trip to Phuket. Looking forward to part 2.
Hello Ben my friend, Yes I heard they have a water festival every year but I had no idea it was an actual giant water fight. The guy with the hose was destroying everyone. I actually found that restaurant by accident just walking around to find something to eat. Who ever built that restaurant put a lot of imagination into it. Thanks for watching:)
Thanks Sean for your hard work, really great video from content to post production, really great camera work and great job minimizing back ground music, most keep the music volume too high. Many of us would appreciate just hearing the natural ambience , street sound, people talking etc.
Jim I want to thank you for recognizing the hard work I did put into this video, I am trying to learn new tricks every time I make a video. I still have a long way to go but I am enjoying the process. I wanted to show the real sounds of the water festival but they were playing loud music in the back ground and I did not want to get a copy right claim for music that is not mine. We have to be careful what music we put on videos for TH-cam because they give copy right claims all the time. So I tried to drown out the background music with my own music, I did lowered my music in areas of the video where the background was quiet so you could hear the fun everyone was having. Thanks for watching:)
My wife is addicted, she wants a video every day. Thank you for your great energy, and for taking us to places in Thailand that nobody else in youtube is showing.
Dimitri I am glad you and your wife like my videos, I really appreciate the great comment. I wish I could make a video everyday but for some reason I am very slow at making my videos. It is the editing that takes me a long time. Hopefully I get faster as I get more experienced. Cheers:)
looking forward to your vlogs......i havent been down there for 10 years ......always enjoyed Phuket.but it got to commercialised and very expensive as well........
Jonny thanks my friend, this is my first time in Phuket, and I can definitely see what you mean by commercialized and expensive. I think Phuket and Bangkok seem to be equal on their prices. But I have only been here for a couple days.
I have been to Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket, I would say Bangkok would be number 1 for partying, Patong in Phuket would be #2 and they have a beautiful Ocean, and Pattaya is 3rd but still good and also the cheapest of the three to live.
Traditional songkran celebrations are more gentle and the water was never ice cold. Over time, it somehow turned into watergun fights with ice cold buckets of water 😂🤷🏻♀️
Hello Darlene, Thank you for sharing your knowledge about the water festival. I did experience a few people pouring ice water on me, but most of the time the water was not too cold. I really did not expect to see such a big water fight but it was fun to see. Thanks for watching:)
not a bad time to visit Patong, on Songkran!! nice one. A few things you can do while there: visit the big Buddha on top of the hill, visit Phuket Old town (a lot less touristy than Patong) and make sure you visit a few of the beaches outside Patong too! IIRC Kamala beach was very very nice. Miss Thailand, will have to go back soon!
Um easy Google maps look and Pattaya does have an airport... it's South East of the city. Do they not have internal Thailand flights is this airport only for international flights?
That is one festival I want to participate in one year. I am just curious do those big buses like that have a bathroom in them like the ones in the US?
Hello my friend forgive my late reply, Yes this water festival was an absolute blast to see, And the entire Thailand country does this every year to celebrate the New Years. As far as the Bus, I do not remember seeing a bathroom on this bus but I could be wrong because I was not looking. Thanks for watching:)
Hello I am doing great, thanks, There are some cheap hotels here in Phuket that you cab get for $19 a day. Many of the hotels have discounts if you stay for a week or longer. I was paying 35 dollars a day but now I switched to another hotel where I am paying 21 dollars a day and it still has everything I need except it does not have a gym. Cheers
Hello Don, and thanks for the idea for the video, I will tell you that what I am doing is I have what is called a virtual mailbox where I chose an address in any state to receive all my mail in the US and I can see what the mail is and choose to have the mail shredded or sent to me in Thailand. But the great part about this virtual mailbox is you can choose any state to have your address in. It is called Traveling Mailbox. Check them out.
@@louis20122 Hello, yes this is what I did, I have my mail address in Texas where there is no State tax. I have all my mail sent to this address, then they send it to me in Thailand. You can get a virtual mailbox in any state you want. I use Traveling mailbox service but there are other virtual mailbox companies.
Hey Chad good to hear from you. So far I can say Phuket is definitely more expensive than Pattaya, but I think it is equal to Bangkok prices. I have only been in Phuket a few days so I will know more the longer I stay. I plan to stay a month or so.

Weren't you supposed to see the world after you sold your house? I came across the first video on this channel, and then did a quick scan through the rest, and they are all from Thailand....?
I definitely recommend checking out Phuket, there are other parts of Phuket that are not wild and crazy. Only the city of Patong is crazy. I think you would like Kata beach, Karon beach or Rai Wai. They are more mellow and have a small town feel to them. If you like very Mello then you might like Kamala beach, this place was to Mello for me though.
It seems like you like Phuket. Maybe doing a cost of living there. I wonder $2,000 usd is good enough to have a good living in Phuket. I don't like bars or clubs or alcohol or girls.
Hello Louis, I do think you could easily live in Phuket for $2000 a month. Of course your biggest expense will be your rent, but you should be able to find a condo for 500 to 800 a month with a year lease which would leave you plenty for your other expenses.
@@livebeforeyoudie9984 Thanks. I am glad to hear that. I am happy you took a giant step and moved to a different country. Hope you enjoy staying there. I think I would with nice weather and delicious cheap food.
