The archetype system is so good because as you said, you can choose a job that fits your style. I laughed when you said the gunner was ass because I actually really like that job so far. But I think we can all agree, Merchant is OP. Love this game.
this is my GOTY but they definitely cut a dungeon out in the mage academy. I'm assuming they will add it in dlc or the ultimate edition. Once we get to that part it seemed like development didn't have enough time to fully realize their vision. Just my opinion
The only thing I don't like much about Metaphor is that it's a bit easy to break the gameplay difficulty with all of the options you're given Especially after you get the 4 Utilitarian's Manuel that reduce turn cost of Syn Skills the game becomes quite easy At least I'm glad they balanced Magic and Physic a bit more due to a Magic team getting the Brandon rank 4 follower passive for a 50% damage reduction But well you still have Junah giving AoE Charge sooo.. I would've liked to have a difficulty above Hard that didn't need to be a NG+ And yeah the pacing gets way too slow at the end, probably needed more time or budget to make a dungeon during that 31 days time limit
The last 31 days was good to wrap up stuff but yes, not sure if there needed be a plot point but they definitely needed more time to think through and dev that part. Its alright though. Love the game regardless.
You know its funny, to me I liked the last 1/4 because it actually got hard after becoming extremely easy in the midgame. Everything you say with reused enemies is true, but the bosses were actually fun to play and strategize against. I also grinded a little so I cant comment too much, but I do think if you dont skip a lot of trash and try to get levels there is a way to be at least low 70s by the time you hit the final boss, and then with the right strategies the boss is doable. For the record hard mode does reduce xp gains when compared to normal, and easy increases xp gains even further. It absolutely expects you to fight enemies as you come across them rather than skipping portions just because youre low on resources. So yeah, ultimately I actually liked it because it was actually hard for once, and i cant say that i experienced the same issues with levels, at least to that extent. (For the record i grinded before one of the dragons because i was super low level compared to it. I dont think i actually had to grind as i left the dungeon to get gear to beat the boss and found a pretty easy way to kill it. But after doing all the dragons I was actually overleveled in the story dungeon and 1 shot everything. I think the game kind of wants you to do the story dungeon first and then beat final optional bosses and if i pathed it that way I think i wouldnt have had to grind at all)
Idk man. The magic builds can be BUSTED even better than the physical builds in some cases. And that Gunner archetype is decent, but the class AFTER that is DOPE! It's a side dungeon on the game where it's best to formulate a team that attacks from back row, and my gunner and sniper was MVP in there.
I don't think magic is bad at all I just think Physical is WAY better. Like it's clear ATLUS has a bias toward Phys cause it's like this in almost every game they make
Dang i played on hard too, but the last part of the game i just didnt want it to end. So i was grinding my ass out just to max out all characters strongest archetype. And then i ended up smashing the final boss like a piece of cake 😂😂. Honestly, grinding in this game is so easy and convenient, that it really compensate most of the drawbacks.

(My check was low bc I worked one day and ended up getting sick and not making many tips)
The problem with the graphics isn't because they are not "realistic". As someone who also values art direction over graphics. I do believe that lower quality graphics this time around does hinder how overall visual style of the game. Mainly with the character models. I don't think they translate as well to their gorgeous illustrated artworks as they did in p5. Where the artstyle was much crisper and cleaner back then. In Metaphor, they had to cut alot of corners this time, they couldn't add the same water colouered effects like they did with the portraits, everything just feels like they are lacking detail. Which is especially problematic with a game with so many races, it makes it harder for me identify different tribes apart from their wings or horns. Its not a deal breaker to me but I think there was still more that they could do to in-game enhance the visual spectacle that art-direction promised.
I hope this becomes its own franchise so they can improve on that. Did they ever mention anything regarding this becoming a new IP they intend to iterate upon?
I was level like 57 at the final boss. but I refused to grind more than doing the dragon trials so I just faced the final bass at that level on hard to win. Dont get me wrong it was really fucking difficult and i needed some luck on my side but ultimately. Thats how I want a boss fight to feel. Games have felt too easy for me recently so metaphor was not only refreshing to me in everything you mentioned but also in a difficulty scale (havent played the smt series yet by the by)
Hands down Amazing game, but if you build magic properly you’ll hit like a truck, like general, and warlords one time elemental weakness ability that allows you to nuke for 10k+ easily
I built the mc for magic and I'm glad I did. One flaw of the game is that they frontload you physical based members and even if u reclass strohl and hulkenberg, you know they'd be better off with a strength class. Takes until the 4th dungeon till u get another proficient magic user
I wonder if I’m the only one who has problems with the animated text boxes. Everything moves in this game 😅 I can’t concentrate. I would love to have an option to disable the animation on the text boxes.

Odd cause i beat all the persona games on their hardest difficulties but yeah this one was my limit. And every member of the cast & npcs are so awesome & memorable (More is my goat)

I laughed at how hard you went at the end game and dungeon design. This was my main complaint as well tbh. I don't understand how Metaphor took so many years to make and ended up with less variety in its levels than Tartarus in P3R. Somehow this game was said to be the most ambitious project Atlus has made yet feels like it had much less budget than P5. Game is so good in all the areas that you want a JRPG to be but oddly enough the combat feels off. Close to perfect but not quite.
If you did everything before reaching endpoint u didnt have to grind for levels that's the flaw of you not the game. I reached endgame with 63. I rushed to dragons and skipped normal mobs. I beat them and they were insanely hard and it felt like dark souls on hard mode. Then went on to beat final boss at level 69. And oh boy it felt impossible. But i didn't give up because i couldn't grind anymore. Instead i optimized the shit of my party members and fixed my biggest issue which was mana management for final boss and i finished the game. It felt so good and took hours to do so but it was damn rewarding. Because of that difficulty spike the game became goty to me and the optimization of my build was the part that made realize how deep the system is. It felt like playing a chess with a world champion. this is atlus worst game lol... this video sceams fan boy. P5R on pc looks better then this game, Palaces are way more detailed and designed compared to the TRASH ps2/reused dungeons in this game. the major cities are boring, and towns are just menus... characters are boring. compared to the persona casts, story is EHHH. im a huge atlus fan as the persona series and SMT5 as a whole are in my top 3 ever, but metaphor falls flat in every category. You haven’t even played the game why are you making a long statement about it.
How does the Matthew Principle account for the successful social and revolutionary movements that defy it?

this is atlus worst game lol... this video sceams fan boy. I have no idea how this is getting glowing praises, this is not even close to GOTY that belongs to FF7R easy.
The game is getting glowing praises because not everyone has the same tastes and opinions as you, and you seem unwilling to have an open mind toward other opinions. Persona is my top 1 series of all time and I still think metaphor is a more well crafted game.
@@YandereGogeta I do have a open mind but also not a blind fan boy like you lol. When your review is saying the only con of the game is the end game grind you’re just a Atlus shill at that point,
@@JungKooksTwin you clearly do not have an open mind if you’re saying that. i don’t know how much more obvious you can make it
