    @ 2.43, avoid stainless, it's a p.i.t.a. to drill. if you must use it then drill slowly and use coolant. i've worked with stainless for about 25 years!

      Agree, avoid if possible but some parts of world Aluminium wont be easy to get perhaps.

    Colin would there be much work to add 20meters to this design?.
    Thanks for putting the time into the design and sharing all the details to build a completed antenna.

    • @MM0OPXFieldRadio

      Yes and no, you need to lengthen the arms and a new centre post. I have a 20m version already but need to replace the centre post for this type.

  • @G6DDX
    @G6DDX วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Looks great. On my list after i've built my DXC Signature 9.
    One of your images of the centre post showed two end caps (blue) but another showed just one end cap as per the BOM. I am presuming the BOM is correct so that any water or condensation that does get inside can drain?
    How do you feel about the stiffness now that you have built it? Does it need the 11mm poles of would 9.5mm suffice?

    • @MM0OPXFieldRadio
      @MM0OPXFieldRadio  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      BOM is correct. I had one on bottom for storage to prevent damage. 9.5mm poles would be fine. Just a bit stiffer with the 11mm ones I already had.

    Hi Collin. Great video. What a great idea removing 20 and 17. I installed a Hexbeam last year and absolutely love it. You are right, all my DX contacts are on 15, 12, and 10. Keep up the good work. John

    Thanks for sharing mate. I think, i would be looking at working part time, and forging ahead with your own business, i am sure like callum, you would end up working from home, and having a very lucrative future. I would probably buy one myself for 20 or 30m, as , even after erecting a ant for 10m, and spending many hours listening, i not heard one single station this far south on 10m.
    Not a sausage, and ten is good for sausages this time of the year.
    Although my recent experiment with a 20m elevated vertical has proved to be the best ant i have used for 40 years. 1-3 db gain over all my other ants.
    Think about changing career mate.
    GM,s on 20m recently .
    Best wishes to you and the family.
    Zl3xdj.

    Been thinking and studying the different beam antennas. I think this will work for my situatio well

    I agree. Its the next logical step up from wire antennas. Fairly small, affordable, can even be rotated manually. I can work stations I couldnt even hear before with the hexbeam.
