Hard to believe this Friday will be 3 years since we lost Stephen Hillenburg. He is truly an animation legend who created an animated icon. I don't think Steve knew how much of a global phenomenon SpongeBob would be, or how much of an impact the little square dude has made on so many people, when he first created him. We all have Steve to thank for literally making all of this possible. We love and miss you. 💛

He was honestly too good for this world. I hate that he had ALS because that's a horrible way to go. I can only imagine how he felt knowing he couldn't continue his life's work.

Hillenburg should get on the walk of fame. People like seth mcfarlane, mister rogers and matt groening all have stars for making some of the longest running shows that also had huge impacts on people. I don't see why hillenburg shouldn't get one.
If I remember correctly, Stephen preferred to avoid the spotlight; he was a humble guy. I can see the opportunity to be on the walk of fame being presented to him, and he probably wasn't interested.

I’ve literally just watched this month, Stephen Hillenburg’s Memorial with Tom Kenny singing The Best Day Ever with Tom saying “We’re going to miss him but it’s still The Best Day Ever!”.
He didn’t just create the face of Nickelodeon’s network, he created a character who you can recognize without even being a fan of the show. Thank you, Stephen Hillenburg, for making a character that unites people better than most people can.

My little brother and I grew up loving Spongebob. It was our favorite show growing up and the first and only show we could both love and agree on no matter what. We quoted it to each other. All thanks to Stephen Hillenburg, these cartoons and animations gives me nostalgia and it made my childhood better. So sad that Stephen Hillenburg passed away but he'll always be remembered and always be a true legend. Thank you Stephen Hillenburg :)

This man was a legend, he’s the heart and soul of memes and almost the entirety of Nickelodeon
