I built a model of this at the beginning of the year and emailed Mr Richard Branson too see if he would buy it but was not interested lol, it has cabin lights / motorised engine fan blades and flashing navigation and beacon lights too.
Excellent review as always! I would say that for a 7 hour flight to the East Coast the service on Virgin in economy is better than on most European carriers with the exception perhaps of Swiss
Swiss .Hummm ?.... Lots of Legacy Name Brand "Glamour". Great Hub Zurich ! Great Crews ! Great C Class ! Current Economy is little more than what a Low Cost carrier would offer in terms of Catering and Space. Nothing to write home about .
I haven’t been to London in several years. The last time was a United 757 from Newark - that’s right, 757. My daughter and I had the window and aisle seat, nobody in the middle. And it was fine! I don’t have great expectations on any Economy seat, so I’m not disappointed easily!!
@@wotan10950 wow what an experience. I like to think forward to what I’ll be able to tell my (hopefully avgeek) grand children what I flew on back in the early 2000s. Booked on a 717 for the first time in July. Can’t beat a DC-8 though!
Travelled on this plane back from JFK just over a week ago. It was great. Very comfortable and good media equipment. Plus it only took 5 hours into Heathrow. Very impressive
I really think that one of the primary reason why Virgin Atlantic stands out above many other trans Atlantic carriers simply comes down to aesthetic. Many other carriers have similar offerings in economy class but with their young fleet of planes and their flashy style Virgin Atlantic makes the whole journey an experience in itself, almost as if you’re boarding a spaceship Virgin Galactic style.
Nice video. The only time I’ve ever used universal power in economy was when the USB port failed and had to chard my tablet. Kind ok hard to use a laptop in economy class though. I personally feel it’s completely unnecessary in economy given the limited space.
Why would anyone need to charge their laptop on a 6 hour flight? Surely your fully charge laptop will last that long. And won't USB charge your laptop?
Virgin market their ‘second snack’ as Afternoon tea and here in Britain, afternoon tea generally consists of light food and cake/scones. Plus I dare say that Virgin will have done some market research on the need for chargers on board and found that for the majority of travellers, a USB is sufficient
Great video as always David! The VA livery looks great on their A350s! Looks like you had a nice flight, shame about the 3 hour delay. I guess the empty cabin made up for that a bit.. The food all looks good, plenty of options for economy as well :) Regards, Brendan
David, another good video. I missed the good old days where Economy got formal 3 courses and afternoon teas. Maybe also to include the price you paid to give people prospective for value, and also could you do Gallery check between the meals, as providing the premium snacks will be much better than just waters
Agreed, but I think we suffer from nostalgia😀 Nowadays 3 meals is even in biz class not common on long haul flights, only on LH first you can eat as much as you like😀
Can I please point out that the USB ports built in to the IFE screens are not designed to charge your devices, they are for viewing files from your phone on the display, so they will charge your phone extremely slowly or not at all. Always use the ones separate from the IFE
There were like 50 passengers in the main eco cabin. How the crew can’t deliver an even better service with an empty cabin, I don’t understand. Good video man.
Dave, That's a good video content right there. I hope that you have made your research and stated all possibilities pertaining to the different things available on the flight so that you can have a complete flight review.
What a very British experience! Macaroni cheese (note: not "mac 'n' cheese; it should never be "mac 'n' cheese"), Rodda's clotted cream on your cream tea; Love Hearts... Fantastic!
I'll be flying the A350 on Sunday, booked in Upper Class from LHR-LAX. Due to the pandemic, I assumed there would be a reduction in meal and drink service, so I wrote Virgin. From the UK I'll receive a hot meal and an afternoon tea. No alcohol service, but beer and wine will be offered with meals. I've always flown Upper Class on Virgin's B789 so this is going to be a very different experience, but it sounds like it'll be better than BA's current business class service which consists of a cold sandwich in a box! It is odd about the lack of power outlets. It won't affect me but it will certainly upset others.
I love your 'Brutally Honest' series of reviews. It's very realistic and sticks close to the subject matter, instead of drifting off into a self-centred personal blog like many other 'reviewers'. BTW: even though flights delays happen to all airlines, I always associate virgin atlantic with flight delays, due to past experiences. I much prefer virgin for flight experience and customer service, but I must concede they don't seem to recover as well as B.A. when it comes to flight delays.
When I saw you uploaded a video on the Virgin Atlantic A350 a couple days after Paul Lucas, I thought to myself “wouldn’t it be something if they were both on the same flight?” Well, I was pretty close
David can I say something? I think this flight better than british a350 flight. Right? And try turkish airlines boeing 787-9 dreamliner flight to istanbul please?
I love the small Hot Snack before landing. Virgin Atlantic really treat economy class passenger nicely. Great flight. Can wait to see your upcoming video. Already subscribe your travel Vlog.
Wow,l'll never forget my first flight, which went from São Paulo to Brasília, the flight lasted an hour and fifty minutes,it was a unique experience at Gol Linhas Aéreas Intelingentes. But your flight was also very sensational in terms of in-flight service, and also a very interesting route.
AirPlane spotter AH basically, it’s a review based on what the passenger’s expectations are for any given flight, given the airline, class, route, etc. He describes what his and the viewers’ expectations are, then checks to see if they are met. During the flight, he checks off the various items as either exceeded, met or not met. That’s about it in a nutshell.
I was on the a350-900 with Qatar and it was great but was only 3 hours compared to the 16 hour flight on the 777-200lr for the connecting flight. It was a huge difference the a350 is so much better in legroom and upper bin storage
David are they expecting the leisure travel contingent to carry them? Not offering power ports ? That’s got to be a no go for an economy business customer .
I have an interesting recommendation (which has maybe been suggested before but I don’t usually read the comments) and that is for whenever an expectation is exceeded; instead of having the same sound effect as “expectation met”, perhaps a different sound, like a “ta da” sound? Keeps things interesting and I think viewers would enjoy 🤷🏻♂️
At least he's honest unlike some of the other reviewers who get FREE airline provided $12,000 first class suite tickets and are basically paid to not review but advertise the flight.
Do one on SAA longhaul (London-JNB/NewYork-JNB on SAA's new A350/Hong Kong-JNB) Very rarely covered airline and with the financial issues theyre having they may disappear like Airberlin soon.
I wonder David if they have a Universal Power socket in Upper Class ? ( Business?) Also you may not have noticed but in their "new" livery on this aircraft Virgin had replaced the Union Jack flag on the wing lets with the Virgin logo !! You were spot on about the lack of passengers on this flight !! I presume the in flight entertainment was ok ? Well done and I always enjoy your brutally honest reviews !! Thanks mate!
Have you found these A350 aircraft to be noisy inside the cabin? especially when the the undercarriage is retracted and the flaps extended! i was expecting the latest aircraft to be much quieter than older generation but thought it is noisier! big disappointment in this department, recently done the same trip from Heathrow to JFK on Virgin Atlantic A350.
That's Hainan Airlines' Boeing 787... We do not have a video about flying on their Dreamliner, but we do have an Economy Class and a Business Class Tripreport about flying long-haul on their Airbus A330-300: th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=simply+aviation+hainan+airlines
I would imagine VA opted not to install the power outlets in Y class as they consider themselves more of a "leisure" airline and maybe thought the cost of having those power outlets outweighed the amount of passengers that would use them on the average flight for working. Additionally people flying on VA for work would likely be in PE cabin or Upper class.
love the brutally honest review series! here's an interesting one for you if you ever find yourselves in Glasgow, Scotland. Glasgow to Toronto with Air Transat A321LR .
Another great video David... I would like to see a review on any chosen premium airline, the difference between their standard economy versus their premium economy, or premium economy versus business. The same flight number, same route, and so on, so that an accurate comparison can be made/ And let us see if the cabin class comparison is worth the extra in price paid for the ticket.
The main disappointing thing I found in economy on the virgin a350 was when someone puts there seat in recline it gives you very little room and encroaches majorly on space. Also virgin economy food isn't the best. Also this flight review was very empty flight. Try it when its rammed full. Very different experience. No hot towels, less drinks offered and alot harder to move out of the window seat when full. Virgin are a good airline overall just some small touches need to be made.
