    i love how jike still shows respect for his senior when he raises his hand and signals like an apology if he gets a point (even if it's not a net or edge ball). but i like his last reaction when he won. it's like a big thing for him to beat the veteran.

    cant believe nobody mentioned 5:32 ! Most Chinese players switch to their bh rubber while smashing but ive never seen it like Ma Lin here! Not only backhand to forehand but also penhold to shakehand. The following smash itself is also as brilliant as it is funny

    zhang actually loops harder in rally than both ma's. ma lin's first attack is faster and stronger, but once the rally starts it's weak. Ma long is faster in general but has less pwer than zhang

    fuuuucking awesome, zhang jike has a nice game his backhand is really nice, what he just needs to do is learn to better with his forehand because he looses a lot in a forehand fight against the the other chinese, especially ma lin

    @oldolchen I agree that his forehand was kind of bad in this match, but I don't think it's generally a problem. His forehand is still a great shot. This was actually a rather poor match from Zhang Jike in my opinion. He usually beats Ma Lin rather easily. Anyway, it's very fitting that he finally gets his first Pro Tour title. Hopefully, he will occupy his rightful position on the ranking list soon to - he's been the second best player behind Ma Long for almost a year now.

  • @antoshadon
    @antoshadon 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @tyoungos Zhang Jike doesn't have a poverful loop? Did you not see him get into forehand to forehand at LONG distances? And I don't think I've ever seen Ma Lin regarded to as a powerful looper. He is a great player and many things can be said about him, but I just don't see him get into too much power play. His style is to win with by playing smart, by being effective and efficient

    matches confirms the shortcomings of PH against SH style. Unless your footwork is exceptional like RSM, no chance for PH as ML was put out of position many times on the BH.

    @jayjaymatt It's actually very obvious when both players are at middle/far range. It's also obvious from how ZJK/Wanghao's and Malong's games against Joo turned out. Malong's forehand is not as explosive but his extreme talent is his fast connection between every strokes, no matter left or right, or the transition from left to right. If you could understand chinese probably you will benefit a lot from chinese commentators from their national team

  • @InvinsibleChew
    @InvinsibleChew 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jayjaymatt I really wondered how so many people commented about "ZJK not having the massive forehand as Malong/Wangliqin". It's so apparent that ZJK is the Chinese player whose forehand is closest to WLQ's at his prime. Malong's forehand is short of power and he usually borrowed the energy from his opponent's return; and this has long been an issue addressed by Chinese coaches.

    • @mindrover777
      @mindrover777 ปีที่แล้ว

      How did they address it if I may ask

    • @dickn.ormous1064
      @dickn.ormous1064 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ZJK's forehand always loooked strained,no wonder he destroyed his body in no time.Very short preparation and late execution. He was explosive but not that powerful.
      WLQ hit his forehands with proper posture despite being so much taller that's why he retired with his body intact.From mid- distance also Wang Hao was also better than ZJK.His timing and swing technique was much better.
