- After nearly three years investigating the French Catholic Church, an independent commission says about 330,000 children were victims of sexual abuse over 70 years.
The landmark report says about 3,000 child abusers, two-thirds of whom were priests, operated within the church since the 1950s.
The report details what it calls the “complete indifference” on the part of the church towards the victims.
Catholic bishops in France called for an independent inquiry in 2018, to shed light on past abuses.

The system, which operated between 1831 and 1996, removed about 150,000 Indigenous children from their families and brought them to Christian residential schools run on behalf of the federal government.
They were forced to convert to Christianity and not allowed to speak their native languages.
Many were beaten and verbally abused, and up to 6,000 are said to have died.
A Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), set up to investigate the effects of the residential school system, reported in 2015 that children were malnourished, beaten, and abused as part of a system that it called “cultural genocide.”
A papal apology was one of 94 recommendations from the TRC, but the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops said in 2018 that the pope felt he could not personally apologise for the residential schools.
Indigenous children had their long hair, which often had spiritual significance for them, cut upon arrival and were forbidden from speaking their native languages, according to the TRC. Students were given European names and, often, numbers and uniforms.

That's about 4,300 abused French children a year, every year. In 1996 there were 27,000 priests. In 2020, there were about 20,000. Statistically speaking this level of abuse and the fact it was covered up for 70 years should shock no one.

The religious rules around sexuality largely don't work! #1 Priests and nuns living celibate for a lifetime, requires a level of internal yoga, repressing, suppressing, denying internal promptings for sexual expression which the human body calls out for. #2 Wanting virgins to marry and stay together forever. The sexual energy center (2nd chakra) becomes awakened before the solar plexus chakra (3rd chakra), and as such, teenagers have an awakened sexuality BEFORE they even understand themselves. It is very hard to find a lifelong spouse in this stage of life and I really wonder if 15-18 years olds are ready for something as serious as marriage. #3. The mandate to "forgive those that trespass against us" shifts ALL the burden of the trauma and healing from it, onto the victim. Moreover, it's often the perpetrator who arrogantly declares (on what grounds??) the victim will heal, or should heal and places more emphasis on the victim not having a "bitter heart", than on stopping this type of violation. If religion is to continue into the future, they will have to craft realistic rules around sexuality that honor the natural promptings of the human body, which should not be denied, but brought under reasonable discipline, so they can be expressed in consensual, respectful ways. I know that's a lot to ask of these archaic institutions, but I'm asking anyway. I feel called to post this under many similar videos that discuss this problem because this problem has to stop. The rug is simply not big enough to sweep more and more such events under it!

Will they do an investigation on imams now, I watched a programme on how there is a lot of abuse in mosque and madrassas we need to stop child abuse in all religion's.
Alot of abuse? You are likely exaggerating. Kids rarely ever go to mosque and mostly pray in homes, if they do then they go with an adult. And either way, a mosque is not like a chruch, you go to pray and come back. The Imam would never never aproach a person himself and it's mostly people going to him to greet.
