You two are to be admired for your calm and intelligent approach to what must have been quite a shock, coping with the onslaught of Covd-19. My wife and I have sailed the protected waters of Vancouver Island for decades, and admire how you coped so well with lacking water and fuel, an issue we faced several times around Desolation Sound; isolated because of weather. On land we're aware that this virus brings the word to us as a village, so to speak. What works for you, works for us. Cleanse your hands and everything you touch on arrival home. We send Happy and Safe Sailing to you Steve and Judy. Rodney and Norma Maennling Vancouver Island Canada
Thanks Rodney, I think its been a shock for everyone. We think we're actually better off than most here in Spain as the lock down is pretty sever. People arnt allowed out for anything but food or medicine and its strictly controlled. At least we have the water around us.
I have to chime in here for a small comment. Fantastic job by that marina and all involved. Simple mantra to live by, support those that support you. If I ever get to a point where I own a boat in the Med, I will make that marina a must visit on as many occasions as I possibly can. Well done by those that could.
Your videos are both beautiful and informative. Thanks so much for putting a smile on this Marine Corp veterans face. Cheers from, Portland, Or USA. USMC Vet
Thanks for sharing this, at a time when travel is not possible it is wonderful to be able to see a unique adventure experience in such a well shot and interesting way, thanks
Thanks for the videos. My wife and I have spent many years sailing in the Mediterranean, even with 5 children. From 1980 to 2008, I really miss it now, so watching you guys now is the nearest thing to being at sea for us. Thanks again, I hope you can get out to sea again soon.
Even if your situation seems more awkward at sea than for us on land, thank you so much for your videos that keep our spirit high. Keep safe and well. Philippe from Belgium
nice video, I hope you stay safe. Not a terrible location to be waiting it out. Beautiful boat, I am going to go back and see your previous videos. I just got out of isolation, after testing positive, and am back at work at my hospital. I can get to my boat and work as much as I can on it.
Thank you for twenty minutes away from my apartment in LaSalle, Montréal, Québec, Canada.I don't now feel so locked down. I'm not a sailor but I am in love with your boat and lifestyle.
I must say, that is one beautiful boat. The HC cutter style is my favorite look and lines. Be safe out there and thanks for the updates. The world has a ways to go yet...
Just found your channel this week and enjoying watching your adventures. Lockdown on your boat is better than a small flat in London any day of the week. Always wanted to do what you are doing from the days when I lived on a boat on the Thames at Richmond back in the sixty’s but work and baggage got in the way. I imagine one of the things you need is a strong relationship when you are at sea with only each other to talk to and rely on?
Am enjoying watching your diaries. Hope you can keep safe and maintain access to land for your vital provisions. I’m in Uk with a boat in North Wales. The marina is closed to everyone now. Keep the updates coming, helps me with the isolation of living by myself. Have sailed Cartegena, and surrounding areas. Fingers are crossed for you to be able to commence exploring again soon.
Keep safe, and keep letting us know.....some of us are inside without the views you have, Hope things sort out for all of us soon. And that marina deserves all the publiciy you can give it for when things pick up. Good people.
You are living our dream. Met my wife at a sailing club meeting in March 1971. We married in December 1971. Our plan was to sail and live a carefree life. We did sail for 10 years - nothing adventurous, just up and down the Texas coast and in the Abacos. But along came three boys, job changes that moved us away from the water and my wife’s death in April 2019. Enjoy every day. Life is over in the blink of an eye.
Great to see you out sailing, very envious! & paddleboarding is really hard work 🙃 Glad that you got some water & beer, with the Ferero Rocher you have all bases covered. Keep up the video’s they make us feel much better, especially when the sails are up 😃
Hello, Great video and loved how you sped up the footage of your race around the boat. I found it to be quite humorous..😆 Stay safe and I look forward to seeing more adventures.
So glad you found a source for water! And congratulations on focusing on exercise. my wife and I have an extensive set of exercise bands. Stay safe and thanks for such wonderful video production!
Really, good for you running the dinghy. Small things they may seem, but so useful and good to know. I commend you both on you independence and ‘ making the best of’. Glad you are safe, take care. Here in Canada boat club opening is delayed of course, (indefinitely ?) for now, so it helps immensely to follow you, as it has all winter!
Hi Guys, glad to see you are well and managing to keep reasonably well stocked. I am about 100Nm north of you in Denia Marina and as I am sure you are already aware of, the lockdown have been extended to the 26th. I will wait to see what happens closer to this extension, but would seek clearance to depart!.... fingers crossed.... Keep well and enjoy your relative freedom most others don't have.
Green with envy. My boat is stuck on the hard in Cornwall with no chance of getting afloat until the Covid19 restrictions are lifted. I can't even get access for maintenance and repair work. I can see this season being a write-off. Not sure about the choice of Ferrero Roche but your street cred was restored by having a stash of Proper Job for special occasions.
I wondered if your water maker could filter out the excess algae in the water but I would imagine it would quickly clog up your membrane. Great that you were able to get water and that a mate shared some good beer with you. Cruisers are like that! Yet another good episode. While our town here in Alaska (Juneau, the Capital) is still doing social distancing and 'stay at home' practices, our harbors are still open to locals going to their boats but if someone comes to town via boat from another city, they're asked to quarantine in place on their boats. We're having a very late blast of winter right now so no boating for me for perhaps another two weeks. Glad things are going as well as can be expected for you and thanks for the very high quality videos. I'll share your page on my social media feeds. Would love to see your channel take off. Really one of the better sailing channels on the internet.
Thank You Wade, that's very nice of you to say. Looks like Alaska is taking a sensible approach, I really hope that keeping the social distancing will be enough to stop an outbreak there and keep things controlled. Total lockdown is very damaging to the economy and peoples personal finances, I fear for small businesses here, but the outbreak was sever and I think there was no alternative. Keep well Steve & Judy.
Back in the 80’s I was doing Research on what boat was blue water capable and could be single-handed and only one boat came up, Hans Christina 48. I end up going back to my x-wife and that only lasted till 88 when the money ran out. I then went into commercial real estate where I was pretty successful for the next 20 years. I am 70 now and in bad health. But I can still dream can’t I? Keep posting videos and I am going back and Watch some of your older videos.👍😃❤️🤗
Sailing Fair Isle sitting on a hook rocking to the waves soaking up the sun, playing your guitar to some old Jimmy Buffett song, sounds like heaven to me. 😊💕
Lucky for you that you managed to get water and have supplies. The weather here in Northern Europe is good and they are promising over 17 degrees over the Easter. :) oh, and it looks like they are slowly opening up the lockdown here in Denmark after Easter! Although we don't have a full lockdown, we're not allowed to have open shops or be more than 10 persons together outside or inside.
It is pandemic day 37 here from Seattle, Washington, USA; And we are in day 14 of our lockdown. All is very slowly ticking along. The hand washing, social distancing, and no travel unless necessary bit IS WORKING. Keeping in mind that we do have juuuust a bit over 2 million people here in our "shire", dairy products are plentiful, no flour, no yeast, no paper products, but plenty of veg. and plenty of beer... Our garden in the big city is coming on line and literally in a day or so, we will have more than we can eat. I.E. lots of asparagus pee smell.. Soooo, everything that these good people said, below down there about rainwater capture, and I forget the rest. Thank you for the videos. Happy pandemic day xxx where ever you are. (And our marina is in lockdown for other reasons...which is a very first world problem.)
Being stuck there, I bet you are glad you don't have a water maker! As of Saturday evening lockdown is extended until 26/4. It's perfectly OK for you to go shopping tho, although beaches are closed so if you arrive on the beach and walk straight up to the street you should be fine. Take care guys, keep the fab vids coming
Stumbled across your channel, its really great! I must say your boat is one of the most beutiful I have seen! I need to see your old vlogs and hope for a boat tour-episode :) wish you the best of luck from Sweden
May I suggest brewing your beer aboard. When you take on water , you fill up your 20 litre brew vat. We did this when we lived aboard in 2016. You name each brew after the port you were in when you put it on. e.g. Jervis bay, Port stephens, Whitsunday Island brew. Unfortunately, your brews would have to be named "Mar Menor Number !,Mar Menor No. 2 Mar Menor No. 3 etc, unless things improve pandemic wise. Enjoy all that fresh water. Cheers, Rob.
The rules (laws?) about what boaters should do are so different, or being interpreted differently. Mia and Dino on Sailing Magic Carpet have been told they cannot move from an inland marina in France where they stopped for provisions, some friends of mine living on boats on English Canals have been told they have to observe the 14 day maximum stay rules and move on after that time. Boaters who had their boats in Bristol Floating Harbour for the winter, have been told they have to pay the normal summer rates, (several times the winter rates) or leave the safety of the harbour on April 1st. It all seems so arbitery and parochial. I must say I admire your stoicism and cheerful nature.
This has been a particularly bad season for wind storms here in the Adriatic (a two day blow as I write), hopefully that will be the end of it for you guys too over there in Spain. Oh and the advice for fruit and veg is to rinse them well when you bring them back from shop but not to wash with soap - as they are porous.
Interesting to hear about the lagoon in Cartagena... was not aware of that one. Not really Covid related but certainly something to look at in the future
I’m jealous, at least you are on your boat. Always something to do, never run out of projects even if it’s only watching the sun go down with a G&T. Thankfully for Spain I hear they are starting to turn the corner, maybe later in the year we will catch up with you in the Balearics, if you hang around there long enough of course.
Sailing Fair Isle You MAY stop in the Balearics! You must, there are many sailors over the years that have quickly past by to get to the Greek Islands, just as many sailors have bypassed the Spanish northern Ria’s just to get down to the Med quickly. We have sailed the Islands since 2010 and so far have never grown tired of them. Forget the disco and teenage binge drinks, we are all too old for that. The Islands are a sailors dream, yes they can get overcrowded but I image that will not be the case this year. I don’t know the pace you wish to maintain but you could easily pass three months cruising the Islands.
We have had a Watermaker for 25 years .. and operated it in French canals and extremely dirty water..yes you ruin your filters and decrease the life of the membranes but they still work.
We’ve bought ourselves a granny-style shopping bag on wheels (£15 on Amazon) so that we can put the heavy items (wine and beer!) in there and also a good back pack. It’s amazing how much stuff one person can carry!
A suggestion. When you do shopping slowly start stacking up on drinking water before the summer hits properly as with all the hand washing I forsee a shortage. Also think about a tarp (or the storm jib) to collect rain water for washing and maybe some baby bottle sterlising solution.
Happy to see you got your water. If I may ask, would it be possible to make a techie episode about your electric outboard, performance, range, speed, weight, charging duration, etc. and explain why you chose it (maybe even compare it on paper with other options such as Torqeedo)? Thank you for sharing your videos.
good afternoon, beautiful boat, you are paddling with the paddle on the contrary the paddle has to be turned outwards and not inwards and flex your knees more will have more balance
You guys are a fantastic breath of fresh air you really are. I did notice Steve actually stood on that solar panel, would that not do damage to it then? I know nothing about solar panels or sailing but one day I would love to give it a try.
The flexible panels are made to be stood on, I tend not to allow Judy up there with her stilettos, but apart from that they're good! Not as efficient as the solid glass covered ones though
Have you ever visited Port Grimaud sailing village located near St. Tropez? It was a really cool place. I worked on the beach there for a few months. It was early in the development...phase 2 of 5 or 6 planned phases. Looks a bit crowed now, but still an interesting stop. Stay safe and practice, practice, practice. :) 👍👍👍
May I ask what log time cruisers like you do with your plastic waste if you can't go into a marina? On all these sailing channels I see people go ashore for shopping but you never see someone disposing stuff.
I just found your channel. I am at work dreaming about sailing. since I have lots of down time I managed to binge watched you videos. I totally enjoyed all of them. I was hopping to start sailing for life this season but looks like I have to wait another 5 years. till than I will be following you. be safe and stay healthy.
Good morning lovely people, glad you were able to top up your water.its such a shame how discoloured the mar manor has become,it used to be very clear.just a little reminder about the supermarket at PLAYA HONDA it takes about 3minuitsto walk to from the beech it would be so Much easier for you.min
Yes we would love to go down to Playa Honda but it's too far for us on the dingy. We are up by Puerto de Dos Mares as theres much better shelter there from the NW winds we've been getting. If it settles for a few days we may anchor closer and go ashore. I think the butchers we really like 'Missing Links' is walkable from there as well.
@@svfairisle good afternoon there I hope you are both well today your butcher is at..==... Los belones .... You would need to land your dingy on the beech at isles manors and walk up to it about 25 mins. Wishing you guys the best of health and good luck 😀😀😃
It's obvious that so many people don't actually read these comments. I say that because it seems every other comment is along the lines of "Lovely yacht, what is she?" You must have answered that a 100 times already !!!
Ah anoher question. You ipad holder. Where do you get it from. Great videos. Our boat was taken out the water in Southampton at Hamble point marina, its been there son the hard since end January, lock down misery, no boating in the lovely weather we have been having.
I feel for you. Precious UK good weather an no boat is hard. The Ipad holder is from Amazon. I'm going to get another one to move around. They have a heavy base so you can just have it on a surface somewhere. I've drilled some holes in the base and screwed it to the doghouse roof... www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XVFKYL5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Terry Evans We think it is going to be extended. So long as it works and gets rid of the virus! That’s what matters. Stay safe
judyaslett2 Lockdown extended until 25th😩
We’ve bought ourselves a granny-style shopping bag on wheels (£15 on Amazon) so that we can put the heavy items (wine and beer!) in there and also a good back pack. It’s amazing how much stuff one person can carry!
Such a beautiful boat. I am not allowed down to my little Hardy Bosun 20 on the Thames
Nice wooden boat, would love to hear more about it!
I well remember Spanish thunderstorms! First time I heard one, I thought we were under attack!
Stay safe, you two x
A suggestion. When you do shopping slowly start stacking up on drinking water before the summer hits properly as with all the hand washing I forsee a shortage. Also think about a tarp (or the storm jib) to collect rain water for washing and maybe some baby bottle sterlising solution.
Don't forget to use the kill switch. on the dingy motor !
You are kind of very lucky being able to sail, we can’t get access to our boat at all, hopefully we will get away later this summer, stay safe ⛵️😻⛵️
Yes we realise that. Let's hope the whole season isn't lost.
Great to see you guys are both doing well!! Love the racing!! Richard.
Happy to see you got your water. If I may ask, would it be possible to make a techie episode about your electric outboard, performance, range, speed, weight, charging duration, etc. and explain why you chose it (maybe even compare it on paper with other options such as Torqeedo)? Thank you for sharing your videos.
Working on that this week. You're not the first to ask!
Sorry for got to thank you for this weeks content 😎
Amazing to see how you both deal with the situation. But then again there’s no other way. Enjoy that beer and the treats and stay safe and healthy
Hans Slob Bless you and thanks for being such a great support. Right from the start!
Nice boat ❤️
good afternoon, beautiful boat, you are paddling with the paddle on the contrary the paddle has to be turned outwards and not inwards and flex your knees more will have more balance
Yes I've been there filming classic yacht racing, very cool place.
Brilliant vlog 👍
enjoyed that thanks from tenerife
welcome to La Manga , i live very near where you are . Have a nice lockdown.
May I ask what log time cruisers like you do with your plastic waste if you can't go into a marina? On all these sailing channels I see people go ashore for shopping but you never see someone disposing stuff.
Torsten Behrendt We did find a bin for plastics and paper on the way to the spa so recycling fine!
Glad to see you got the beer I mentioned on email ..... keep safe
Yes ! and I usually put the link to the boat tour, so i'll do it again here i case anyone does look!! th-cam.com/video/x8SDb0syCWU/w-d-xo.html
Stay safe and enjoy your beer!

Very Nice
