Nice one, just sorted the drivers window on my 2002 Cooper which was stuck up. Removed door card and silicon sprayed the runners, also lifted the waist seal and sprayed the cogs - it was a little dirty so no wonder it didnt want to work anymore.
Nice easy fix with the window. I'd have thought you'd have grabbed the front wing as well if it was available. Put some miles on it before doing the tracking. That'll allow it all to settle.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes the design of interiors aha like I hate cars just because of interior design and the fact that some companies just throw buttons anywhere and not think about what needs to be closer to the driver and the shape of the dashboard abit like a fords for example or most bmws or French cars for me the Swedish are the best at interiors for me aha
@@aaronchamberssaabfan7397 I've got a focus mk2 which is meh, I've had it all carbon wrapped so it looks neater and cleaner, all buttons are in good places, some cars are just too much, too many buttons, weird colours that dont match, I've always disliked the minis, no need for giant displays and buttons that mimic a Boeing cockpit (minis window buttons)
My father's Nissan Qashqai had the same problem on the passenger window, I took it apart, whacked the motor with a wrench and it started working very slowly, and with the same noise. So I took apart the motor and it turns out some dirt had gotten into it and it, accelerating the wear to the point where it started catching between the shaft and the stators. Anyway, I greased it up but the next day I was stuck again, I would advise that you replace it when you have time because it will probably fail again very soon.
Had a similar issue with my car, got some silicone lubricant and sprayed the window guides within 4 or 5 uses the window was working as new. I used 9953 Mannol, it's really good stuff.
Hi James, when you knock the track rod end through after undoing the nut, hopefully u put the nut on loose before u knock it d I en, or it could ruin the thread. Just saying for parts that will be re used, as it can knacker the thread. I learned that from a friend, and made the mistake before but got away with it
LPB tierod ends; bought a pair for a Fiesta and they are rubbish. Rubber boot started coming off and the steel really soft that they strip if torqued to the specs in the Haynes manual. Will not buy again and go for QH next time. Fine for a quick fix if you are selling the car on!
Take the old mechanism out and pad out the springs that hold the contractors in place that's how they go would be good to show everyone how to fix it without just replacing the part
I was going to ask where you get a lot of your parts from, and you answered in the video. I use autodoc as a main go to for all car parts, only downside is the wait as the parts come from Germany!
I looked on there today for some parts, was a few quid cheaper than euro, but its 8.45 postage and you have to wait 4 or 5 days, when euro deliver same day for free or click and collect, so its a no brainer
steve rowe Yeah if you need parts in a hurry Autodoc is no good, but if you’re not in a rush and ordering ‘hefty’ parts it’s spot on. I agree though the £9 delivery charge is a pain in the arse. In saying that, I’ve ordered loads from there and only 2 bits (Wing mirror covers) came wrong. Currently waiting on some parts as over hauling my Arosa Sports suspension & steering components.
Had their track rod ends for a corsa and they were awful, had to keep having the car aligned as the threads on the inside were like cheese, changed for a slightly more expensive end and no more issues
Remove the glass and clean the tracks which the edges of the glass slide on with some window cleaner or mild degreaser and a towel/narrow brush, then give it a good amount of silicone spray lube and reinstall, the silicone will stay good for a while, just give it a spray in the channel with the windows rolled down every few months or so if it slows down, it's good to do this when you replace the regulator and motor in the future anyways, the gunk adds stress to the new motor and this will reoccur with the new setup. Enjoying the videos man!
I have used track rods and brake parts from motor factors in the past but they don’t last too long I know they don’t last forever but genuine ones last a lot longer than them
lack of use perhaps. as an electrician i see this all the time, central locking for example, if you use i t all the time the actual lock barrel will fail if one is fitted, so i alternate between the fob and key use.
Oil, plugs and filters are defo gonna be done when he does the head gasket, and i had my ka and discs wrre corroded like that but it was all gone soon and was alright.
Central locking drivers side when opening often fails, ok when locking, daughters car does it, she asked me to fix, but looks a fiddly job so she just uses the key.
James, have you ever thought about not saying driver and passenger side, (since most of the World drives on the other side than you in UK) and try using left and right side? Sometimes it confuses me a little :D Thanks, great vid as always
ive had to pull my door cards off a few times, to replace the central locking solenoid and the door handle on the driver side. on facebook search for R50 owners club im on there along with a bunch of other people that are more than willing to help you out
We Sell lpb at my shop, great value for there price, very rarely have any problems with them. Videos are top quality keep it up mate, really enjoy them
Dude do you need your little cut kissing better lol you need a can of spray grease it would help you out when access is hard to get to, and yes the stickers look really good dude
Just a couple of "moans" Please buy a stand for your camera, will, avoid shake and you'll have both hands free LM grease whilst general purpose is not suitable for plastic runners & I can't believe you placed the dirty grease container on the seat...!!! I've done a head gasket on these, lay aside some extra cash for water hoses, connectors, plastic vacuum hoses, clips etc that will DEFINITELY break. To sum it up, if you can't see it with the cylinder head in place then budget on replacing it when the head is off and you can see it. Will definitely save you time and money in the future..
Need help I got a Mondeo mk3 st 2.2 diesel and it just started randomly cutting out while driving glow light comes on then doesn't start for a few trys then it will start again and be fine then cut out randomly again the next day
Yeah it starts first time I drive however long doesn't seem to matter could be 100 mile or could be 5 drives fine the bang engine switched of I try cycle the ignition and turn it over sometimes I'm lucky I it starts strait away othertime I had to come to a stop and sit for 15mins trying to get it started
If its injectors then yeah, cam sensor may be worth looking at too if its s none starter at times, but with out a code reader it's just guess work. If you research you will be able to access etc in the dash display, I think it's a case of holding button in on clocks, then turning ignition on but cant remember
I had one for a week, apart from everything inside being silly and not working properly, the ride was awful, steering was vague and the brakes were soft and the suspension was bouncy, I know owners will disagree as everyone falls in love with their car but the one I had was terrible, it was 6 years old and had done 45K miles,
Your battery might be nearly dead as to why its going up and down slow. Try with engine running
Couldn’t believe you showed the video of you banging your elbow .... it made me laugh 😂.
Silicone spray for the window runners.
or standard furniture polish, most have silicone in.
@@tvandbeermakehomergo It can work, But is not ideal as it contains a solvent and does not last
Or dry lube.
I did this but because it’s so thin it only lasts a couple of months
I think for your next car it would be really cool to see you buy a Copart car and fix it up, and you would also have a newer car than a 2002 mini.
Yeah that would be great to watch
Nice one, just sorted the drivers window on my 2002 Cooper which was stuck up. Removed door card and silicon sprayed the runners, also lifted the waist seal and sprayed the cogs - it was a little dirty so no wonder it didnt want to work anymore.
Had this window problem on a focus. The worm drive from the motor on the regulator was dry. regreased it, reassembled and all was good as new.
Maybe a good idea to screw a waterproof covered foam pad thing on the wall to prevent scratching the door?
Nice easy fix with the window. I'd have thought you'd have grabbed the front wing as well if it was available. Put some miles on it before doing the tracking. That'll allow it all to settle.
The mini is such a horrible car on the inside, the doors alone look like disabled toilet handles...

@@Stonecrow99 see that's right but I quite like them switches just don't like the door either and I like minis tho but for me I like SAAB interiors
I disagree; if you’d gone to all the hassle of removing the door card, you should’ve just replaced the mechanism... Just my opinion 👍🏻
Kris Nicholson The mech is tired & old. It will fail again, so replace 👍🏻

It sounds abit sluggish because the engine isn't running giving it more power

Just got home and Monty (my mini)had the same problem..
Banged it..FIXED 😁😁😁
Check the mot history for your car, Iam sure it says rear brake pipes have signs of corrosion.
Put copper slip anti sieze on them.
To be honest I personally would only use dealers parts because you know that they will fit and are of good quality

Love the videos mate always make me laugh and are so relatable from working on my own cars 👌
I have this exact problem on my 207 with my window not working, tried banging it from the outside and slamming the door so looks like panel off 2mro.
Any recommendations for a stainless steel exhaust system? looking at doing mine soon
You shouldn’t hit the stud of the tie rod end as you can ‘mushroom it’ causing the threads to get damaged
Have fun tracking it
silicon spray would be better and better to have engine running to provide more power for the windows they are quite heavy on power.
My adopted dad used to take the door card off and use a club hammer on the motor give it a good few tops with that
You've probably covered it before, but out of interest what camera do you use?
PPS your brakes disc are knacked 😳😳😳

I'd have replaced the window motor just now in case it dies completely while the window is down.

Probably injectors. You need to do a leak back test. I had the same problem with mine
99% it will be injectors, if your lucky it will be fuel regulator in pump or pressure sensor in rail. If your unlucky it will be pump failure

Silicone spray, works the best 😁👍
They are oil slick :)
Spray WD40 on the channels front and back edges to speed it up
Silicone spray is better, and try with the engine running probably battery low.
WD-40 is a penetrating fluid not a lubricant
