Hi, I agree with your findings since I use 100% the same setup EOS R plus Tamron 24-70 G2. I also used the Tamron on a 6D with very good results. I haven't found a bad thing about this lens. If you really want to get the absolute best out of the lens for photos consider F3.2. My and many other Tamron 24-70 G2 gain a lot of sharpness just by going down 1/3 of a stop. Don't get me wrong at F2.8 from 24-70 the lens is very sharp but if you need this extra kick in sharpness for big prints it might be worth a try. For me the Tamron 24-70 G2 is the best overall F2.8 lens in this range and for a very good price.

The 17-55 is meant for APS-C crop sensors and it not as sharp and crisp in image quality. The 24-70 G2 is a little heavy, but totally worth it when you see the image outcome. I don't know. It was on loan from Camera Corner, but I believe they told me it had the latest firmware. I just sold a few lenses including my 24-105 v1 and I'm 99.9% sure I will pick up the Tamron 24-70 G2. It was sharp!!!

guys, I have an issue with the Tamron 24/70 f2.8 g2 and the canon Eos R.
if I put the optical stabilizer on the lens and I shot a video with a pan or a circular movement around a subject, let's say from left to right, the final video get some sort of skipping frame, it's like the stabilizer tries to keep the subject in the center until the camera movement it's too much and than skip a frame to recenter the optical stabilizer and start again. I don't know how to solve it, it's absolutely the VC on the lens, and it happens only with the canon EOS R, If I use it on Eos 80D or 5D I have no problems... (and it's not the shutter speed or the SD card) any ideas??

I'll do a test on mine in the next couple of days and let you know if I get the same problem. Is tour eosr firmware up to date? Same with Tamron firmware?

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@JaredHoyman my Eos R was 1.2 and updated to 1.6 had same problem. I cannot update Tamron lens and I don't know how to check the version, anyway I tested the same lens on EOS 80D and the it looks like the issue is only with Eos R.
I also noticed that I cannot turn on the built in camera stabilizer if the lens VC is off and it sound strange because I can with other lenses without optical stabilizer... :S

@@JaredHoyman hey mate, did you get your test? how is it gone?

@ I just tested it out and I cannot replicate the issue. Do you have the latest EOS R firmware on the camera? I'm wondering if it could be a firmware issue on the lens itself. Can you share the video of the skipping frame?

@@JaredHoyman hi and thanks for your reply, yes my firmware is up to date. I just uploaded a video with all described step by step, you can see it at this link

Hi from Germany! Nice Setup! Veeeeerryy similar to the gear I use.
I used the 24-70 G2 on the 6DMII first and switched to the Eos R some weeks ago. I LOVE IT! In one of my last Vlogs I talked about Carlos Quintero also from the US. He made some perfect LUTs for the canon EOS R C-LOG. For Free! Go and visit him, he is a nice guy. I have the 16-35 is usm and a 24 f2.8. With the 24-70 G2 from Tamron I now have to decide if I will keep the nativ RF 24-105 f4 or the the Tamron. What would you do? Greets again from far away! ❄️

That's awesome to hear. I would sell the 24-105 and keep the Tamron. This is why....The reach from 70-105 isn't that significant. The low light of 2.8 to me is a better option over the f4. Also...I'm really digging EF lenses because of the potential with adapter like the ND adapter option. I believe the future is looking up for Canon. I'm excited to see what comes out over the next few months. Talk of speedboosters are out there too.
