my first ever mod on garrys mod was DrgBase and Siren head and trevor henderson pack and pac3 and than the infinite world
Ive seen stuff like this and i have a theory as to why its "Infinite", i believe the map makes it to where the worlds point of origin is always set to the player (or the player is moved to the point of origin), and vehicles for some reason temporarily ignore this effect, thus is the reason why the player "Teleports" When they leave the vehicle. i assume that when the player moves, the map calculates the distance that the player has moved and applies it to everything else instead, this is to combat a bug that exists in probably every game that doesn't take effect untill you move too far
technically (vanilla) cars dont change ur position to like car position, only when u exit out from the vehicle it updates ur position

nah, youre in a big box that teleports you if you reach the walls, the geometry is an illusion in the 3d skybox

You're right! The infinite map works like this: the exact limit for how large a map can be is 1 square mile, and it's impossible to go beyond it. Modders found a way around this by teleporting the player to the other side of the map, but rendering them to others as if they're still far away. Mee did a very good video on this since he's working on the same thing.
there's a video out there in youtube explaining how somebody made an infinite map
basically he just teleports you back into the "center chunk" of the map once you go a certain distance but masks things by making fake props and fake players so that they look like they're outside the center chunk
watching this video is the closest I've ever gotten to an acid trip. It's just so freaky, like the sky is trying to suffocate you or something

I'd like to see this mod be worked on even further with how it looks and even could be, it's almost like how Minecraft generates terrain loading and unloading "chunks" to create a seemingly infinite space (when it's finite, but just massively immense)

Hey just a suggestion, start by showing us what's cool about a map, not all the things that's broken with it. You can show us whats wrong with it *after* you show us what's right with it. The segment with the vehicle into "lol time moves fast" into "here's how we break the music" immediately followed by "woah the skybox is broken", just that early in the video just wiped out all the curiosity I had.
It just wipes out any interest doing it in that order.
this map would be so good to make experiments with big mods.
