Is it possible to delete files and folders? If so, what’s the best way to do it? On the Rossum or on the computer? Thank you for the great videos. SO helpful!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻 ..if you have a computer, it is a lot easier to manage Files and Folders. As a rule, I always keep Files and Folder names 'short'.. and without using any 'spaces' or 'characters' that the SP may not be capable of displaying 👍🏼
Thank you so much, coming from my sp1200 that i purchased brand new in the 90's, the sd card has been killing me lol. What a machine tho this Rossum sp1200 is just incredible. Now i can save and load without panicking (THANK YOU)
Old habits are hard to break, huh?? 🤓 first thing I did was hit 'Disk Module' then #2 'Save Sounds', unconsciously.. and the Rossum asked me to select a file 🤔😆🙏🏻
Yes. The default kits. Alternatively, you can also find some Kits of vintage Drum Machines from my collection here 🙏🏻 store.tonelab.au/en-aud/collections/sp1200

The Metronome comes out the main output.. provided the Metronome level pot is turned up.. or you can use the dedicated MET output, via the rear, to have an isolated Metronome channel into your mixer / audio interface 👍🏼
Thanks for this video, very helpful. Is there a way to save bpm information and also sounds' tunnings? Because each beat i load all bpm and tunning are re-set to default. Maybe it's just the way it is with the sp?
Thanks very much, Tempo=Yes.. Tuning/Mix Positions=No. The Tune/Mix settings.. can't be Saved, as such.. but.. the 'old fashioned' way of 'taking a photo of the LCD level positions' can be used if 'it has to happen'. In terms of 'Tempo', I was just thinking about doing another Quick-Tip on this.. if you create a Song, at least 1 Segment needs to be added, then you can nominate a Tempo for that Song. Segments 'adopt' whatever Tempo is used in the currently selected Song .. so, you can use that as a method to store your Tempo👍🏼
@@chhu6778 No problem 👍🏼 ..Ps. a new, comprehensive, tutorial for the Rossum SP1200 (most of which also works on the Emu) will be coming in about a weeks time.. over on the parent channel @tonelab 🙏🏻

Nnnnnn.. well, technically.. with the right Windows OS, and some old software, you could 'rip' the samples from 'SP1200 disk images' as WAVs. Then, you could load those WAVs into an MPC. So, it is possible.. if you have the right stuff👍🏼
@@tonelabqt ok, thank you. So it’s not possible to insert the disk into the MPC x se directly, that would be a dream. Workflow is great on the MPC x se,
No, but.. I created an XPM (MPC Program) for the SP1200. Each MPC Bank & Pad number.. relates to the 'same' Bank & Pad number on the SP1200. MIDI cable 'Out' of the MPC.. into your SP1200. Great video, really handy for people coming to the new Rossum, wrongfooted by the slight change from the old model. Thank you! Question: You mention making folders with individual samples (saving all your snares, all your kicks together, etc.). I'm used to making whole kits, but the one thing I haven't worked out on the Rossum is how to load a single pre-saved sound to a project. EG, I make a new track with 7 samples and all it's missing is a snare.I remember I have another project with a snare that'd be perfect. How do (or can?) I load that one snare from another project into the new one? A video on that would be great.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻 ..the simplest explanation for Saving 'individual' Samples - although, probably not the most efficient way of working, is 'Save ALL as..' via #9, on the Disk Module.. but.. just don't have any Sequences or 'other' Samples in the SP's memory.. because.. Option #9 (Save ALL as..) will do just that.. Save ALL, however.. if there's 'nothing else' in memory.. except 1 of your Samples.. effectively you're Saving just that 1 Sample 👍🏼
Sorry, think my question was unclear; I'm fine making/saving projects for use as Drum kits, or single samples I envisage I'll use repeatedly. It was more, after I've done that; Can you explain how I load in those individual sounds from two or more different projects, into a single new project? I can follow what is going on here: th-cam.com/video/jmKgvke5fW8/w-d-xo.html I just can't quite wrap my head around how to do the equivalent of swapping floppies, on the Rossum version. [Without relying on the the dreaded MIDI export/import of course. :-)]
@cj1000xyu ahh right, navigate to the '.sp12' or '.hfe' image file containing Sounds.. run Option #6, via the Disk Module. and select a Pad. Now, this might take a little bit of pre-planning.. because the Pads you're presented with, via Option #6.. are 'not' a case of "Which Pad would you like to Load the Sound into' ..but more a case of 'these were the Sounds, at these Pads, when the Sounds were Saved'.. so, it's a bit reversed.. you'd want to know 'what' those Sounds on those Pads 'are' ..intimately, before 'Loading' them in, willy-nilly.. because Loading them will replace any Sound you may already have residing in your Pads. You might need to Copy Sounds to other Pads to make 'room' for the incoming Sounds 👍🏼
@@tonelabqt, ah perfect, thank you! I hadn't realised you could browse to other projects *without loading the whole project* and load individual sounds that way.
