I dunno, personally I would get a Nokia 3310 with Snake. Only because it can also work as a bear repellent, a blunt weapon and sometimes even as a phone.
I had one. I had a small collection of cells. I would swap out my SIM Card from phone to phone depending on my mood that day. I had a *Matrix* phone too! That one was my favorite. *Edit:* I just bought *MORPHEUS* sun 😎🌞 Glasses.
Looks almost like an typical camping trip, it has happened more than I care to remember. I've even been snowed on quite a few times. Still had a great time.
I was momentarily triggered when you called that game Final Fantasy 4, then it all came back to me. The 90's were a weird time. "Just tell them Final Fantasy 4 is Final Fantasy 3, and that Final Fantasy 6 is Final Fantasy 4, that won't confuse them! Oh and Final fantasy 3 and 5 don't even exist.." Oh and yeah, it jumps from Final Fantasy 4 to Final Fantasy 7. People will think they're missing 5 and 6, but they're really missing 3 and 5.
Love that camping setup! And same, the v90 is my go-to for stuff like this. People praise the Miyoo Mini a lot for portability, but (as much as I love it) if you look at that thing funny it'll fall apart. V90 is cheap, surprisingly durable, and very capable as a handheld.
Dude. Two things. 1) I keep coming back to this for fun air punching every time you say Pow Kitty. Can't help it. 2) My wife said as long as we bring lots of tp, hand sanitizer (she has ocd) and THIS, she just might FINALLY go camping with me. Showing ff6 on your intro vid for it helped as she's a ff nut. Thank you. 3) I wonder who those questions might have come from 🤔
1. I need more Pow Kitty devices just so I can have an excuse to do this more often... 2. I hope your wifey FF camping dreams come true! I hope I meet a swell gal that is into FF someday. Or any gal... at this point... 3. That wasn't 2 things.
This is quality content! Glad to see you getting out in the wilderness- been too long for me personally. Nice setup too. I'm big fan of the minimal backpacking loadout. Had some great times with a tarp and pad. Great to know how light the v90 is. Been thinking about getting one for my daughter so she can toss it around. The price and durability is a major draw for many use cases! Have you thought about doing a homebrew 3ds? Just did it myself, wasn't too hard. But I'm curious about more things I can do with it!
The v90 is a great device for a kid. I'd suggest removing some of the 'bulk' games, only the best of the best, kids I've found how less patients for waiting through piles of junk games to find the good ones. And interesting that you would mention modding a 3ds... 😏
@@TechDweeb Definitely true! Made a list of 101 games from all sort of genres and platforms, to teach fundamentals and let her play the great classics! Looking forward to the homebrew!
A while ago I picked up an Anbernic device for couch gaming, but it's heavy and a tad spendy to be taking into the wilds of Canuckistan. That Powkiddy device looks pretty awesome for carrying around.
Yeah one of the best parts of the v90 is how light it is. It feels cheaper because of that, but when you're backpacking having light things is more important than things that feel hearty.
I found your channel through this device. And then I played next video. And then the next one. And then I clicked subscribe. My point is, glad to see a new video about it.
@@TechDweeb broooo…… got my package in today for my RG35XX and some scumbag stole it out of the packaging😐😐😐 this sucks and now i wont have it for a flight
Hey Geek, I love your camping videos! Your most recent one actually convinced me to purchase the RG Nano! If anything, keep making those so my wallet can keep being thrown through the wringer xD
No it ended up working great! I'm very impressed with how well it worked. But I think it will all depend on the plastic and paint how well it works for you.
Unrelated to your excellent video, have you seen the new 8bitdo "Lite 2" and "Lite SE" controllers? It's got mini joysticks now like the switch, I've got the original 8bitdo lite...its my precious 😍
I haven't heard of them until you mentioned them but I just checked them out and they look great! Not available in Canada yet but I'll probably get one as soon as I can.
Wen I first got my v90 I was a bit disappointed since the snes emulation was pretty ordinary but then I just decided to use it for nes, sega genesis/master system, gameboy and gba roms and now I love it. I use it more than my original gba and gba sp which both have ips screen mods
Did you upgrade to the custom MiYoo firmware? That improved performance across the board for me. The SNES still has a few problematic games but for the most part it works perfectly fine
@@TechDweeb yeah I sure did and I overclocked it a bit and yeah with snes emulation it was still very hit and miss so I removed all the snes roms. I generally mainly play gba and gameboy roms on it and I’m happy with that
@@pimpedoutstereos9747 After all it is a device that is made to emulate the typical GB/GBC/GBA experience as we knew it back then. Personally I much prefer to keep SNES stuff on my mini-snes and keep that to a monitor/TV experience.
@@TechDweeb I love the device as well but was just wondering if you had some method because the distortion when using the scaled 3:2 is rough. It's a bit better in Fullscreen but I'd rather have the correct aseptic ratio for the GBA version
TechDweeb is the outdoors type? That's cool man. Honestly I am a city boy and although I have gone camping many times in my youth (Tarp & roll, Pad & tent, Sleeping in a car, Or even Glamping), I just haven't been in a few years. My next trip I think I'll take my old Motorola Z phone with it's mini laser projector attachment and play movies and games on an old retired slide projector screen form the thrift store I got for $5 ^_^
Heh yup. Did all the boyscouts stuff and everything. Not much else to do in small town North Ontario in the 80s & 90s :P How well do those mini projectors work? I've almost got one on a few occasions.
@@TechDweeb So the one I have is a phone attachment specifically for the moto-Z mod phones and it's pretty good. The advantage to mine is the game console and projector are one device when they are put together and they can run off of internal OR a battery bank. The stand alone mini projectors are EXCELLENT and a bit better then mine. I was debating getting a 720P one because they are starting to get affordable. I am curious about other more portable options for screens. I suppose the kicker would be the brightness because otherwise you have to wait till after like 7 or 8PM to whip out the projector and speakers. The best use case? Old movies and retro games. Playing NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, Playstation or N64 on a 480p/720p projector is perfectly fine. Playing them with an 8bitdo SN30 is CRAZY good.
What I REALLY want to try is putting something like a flat white sheet or posterboard, attaching suction cups to my car windshield, getting a phone clamp holder onto my passenger headrest, aiming the projector at the screen, using my cars bluetooth audio, and having a "Drive-in" experience. Rigging the screen/ projector length is the kicker. I has SOME luck putting the old Slide projector screen in front of my hood, but ANY rain or wind makes it impossible to use.
Hmmm... maybe a dry erase board. Easy to clean. Stiff and flat. A 27" monitor is 17x24" so anthing about that size or bigger would be nice and they SEEM to be fairly cheap also.
Hello, could you perhaps add the subtitle German, only English is offered, but my school English is not good enough to understand you. That would be great... 👍 👍 Thanks for an answer. Of course I left a subscription.
Thank you for responding to my request. It would still be super mega nice if you could add German as automatic subtitles in general. Only English is generated. Thanks for a reply
I love any handheld that's shaped like the Nintendo advance SP 👍😁, it's great to see that the TechDweeb is getting out of his mom's basement for a day 😉
The famous V90! Still love that thing! It's crazy that they didn't do an updated version of the clamshell, no other company has except for retroid. I love the GBA sp form factor.
Can't wait until these budget handhelds are powerful enough to emulate the 3DS, so I can put my actual 3DS in a time capsule. And by time capsule I mean in a box in storage and hopefully forgotten about for decades. I love me so Fire Emblem Fates games. The story is cheesy as hell for all three games but I like the tactical strategy and combat. Only my expensive laptop and PC can emulate the 3DS well. There is a handheld PC coming out that is Switch sized in Q4 with an i3 1215u processor with integrated Iris Xe Graphics coming out for under 300 big ones. That device should have more than enough power to run Citra. It could probably run Yuzu as well. No reason to bring the Switch camping either after that comes out.
Oh nice. I actually loved the Fire Emblem on the original DS. I played that right through to the end. Oh and the one on the Wii as well. Great series, but I haven't played any of the more recent ones. Funny you should mention the 3ds though... ;) Yeah can you imagine a $30 PowKiddy x91 or whatever that can run 3ds. It'll happen sooner or later!
The Mini is still my favourite, I couldn't stand the thought of getting it scratched up in my backpack, that's why the v90 is great because it's easily replaceable.

The clamshell is a great design for the outdoors.

My first cell phone. Definitely an excellent blunt weapon to fight off forest snakes and velociraptors.
I sometimes use one as a pocket knife
What about as a suppository?

Stumbled on to your channel last week and I can't get enough. Please keep doing what you're doing.
