Darren, thank you for reviewing these 2 cooking systems by Fire Maple. They have been expanding their line of outdoor cooking systems, so your information is very helpful. Liked and subscribed. Cheers.
Thank you for this review it's a bit older now but I just got the star x3 it's amazing and honestly you can infact boil a whole litter if you don't let it get rolling
Yes the kit used to come with an inbuilt pot stand which will support your pan perfectly. However this can also be affected by wind and results will vary based on conditions.
Can the pots be swapped out and used on the other stove? I saw that the I can buy the star 2 pot separately, and I wondered if I got the star 3 system if the star 2 pot would work with it.
A question: Does the X3 pot fit into the X2 burner? And another: Do the pots have the same internal diameter? I ask because I'm hoping to get a coffee press for my X3, and can't get reliable info off websites. Cheers in advance!
These clip onto the gas canister and give it stability. I actually use them all the time now and not just with my Fire maples I also use them with other gas canister stoves. They are available to buy from AliExpress on their own for a few pound.
Hmmmmm, strange thing, in 0:47 you gave the differences regarding the power of both burners, but in my version of Star x2 it is very clearly written on both, the packaging and in the manual, that the power of the burner is 2.2 kW, not as you stated in review 1, 8kW, maybe I have a newer version in which it was changed/fixed?
Hmmmmmmmm maybe 🤔 at the time I made this I had to take the details from the website as there was nothing printed on the boxes….. So I am guessing that since this video is around 5 years old that you probably do have a newer version…
In my opinion it’s a good buy for the cash. As far as JB I don’t think they are worth the extra premium mate. There are some quality touches on this piece of kit
Hey Darren, I've just picked up an X3 as couldn't find any X2 available. Two questions I'm hoping you can help me with. For the X3 can you fit the bag meals in the pot? And also can you fit a small gas canister into the pot to store everything all together?
Lindsay Swain hi. Bag meals fit in the pot just fine, as is usual you have to apply a bit of origami I usually just fold them drop them in and let them open up as much as they can. I believe there is a small 230gm gas canister that will fit into the pot with the gear. It’s actai ally my only criticism of the units that you can’t quite get the bigger canisters into them. I’ve learned to live with it but it’s a bit of a pain.
@@sixwestpoint Thanks Darren, super helpful! You can fit a 230? I was thinking only the really small one (100g) would fit. It hasn't arrived yet, hence the questions! :)
A smaller canister 230gms and 100gms can be fitted into the pot with the burner and the lid will still go on but it has to be the 1l sized pot it doesn’t work on the 800ml pot.

Excellent Review Darren, very smooth, great video and audio!
Just ordered a Fire Maple star x2 off Planet X in their sale for £25. Bloody bargain.
Thanks for the great review.
Excellent review Darren and a great video hope you are going to do more mate
ATB Hunter
Hunter McM thanks pal I certainly intend to post more content I really enjoyed doing this
Thanks for this review, made my decision to try it out a lot easier.
My biggest question was if it can be used to cook food on a pan, thank u 🙌

Nice review, thanks. Only criticism is the ending music was a touch too loud.
Cheers
HazzM still learning but thanks for the feedback...
Scared the life out of me, because I had it turned way up to hear the monologue clearly.
I did like the video, though. Very thorough and helpful information.

Thanks for the review. Is the burner valve a simmering one?
Bloody fantastic review bro...
Thanks Darren great video..
Good vid.. What do the three legs do at the burner bottom..

Thank you for review. Firemaple are selling X2 pot separately, so I wonder can you screw x2 pot on x3 burner?
Evgeny Volkov I will check for you over the next few days but I do believe they will....
@@sixwestpoint Thank you for the review. I am wondering about the same think: Did you have chance to test if pots are interchangeable? Thank you.
Sorry folks, the pots between the two systems are interchangeable. System uses a standard base fitting.

Nice review man!
It looks like there is an upgrade for the Star X2 - specs seem to state it is 2200W
Shay it’s possible although definitely the one I have is definitely not as powerful. At the end of the day there is little difference
@@sixwestpoint Been a while, is this junk or a legit JB clone?

nice wee bit of kit , well reviewed keep it up mate .
That was very helpful! Would you be able to fit a cannister inside the X2 without the pot hanger?
Claus_80 No there’s just not enough room in there. I think MSR make a small canister around 125 grams but I don’t have one to test that.
Excellent review!

@@lindsayCswaindid the 230 fit?
@away8886 only 100g will fit in the x3, 230g fits in the x2
What is up my brother from South Korea 🇰🇷 wow
hi how to keep canister after used? i mean how to detach and keep it?

Can you put the 230g gas canister into the x3 pot?
hi mate what knife are you using and also Leather Sheath?
A bit more of the product in action, would have helped a bit, as well as lowering the outro music. Overall very useful review though.
Exile 1 thanks appreciate your feedback all will be taken on board...
Thanks
Have you tried it with the other heat exchanger pots yet
No haven’t had chance yet..... been ridiculously busy of late..... will get on it though
Where did you buy this from? Have you a link?
I bought them from Ali express during a Black Friday deal a few years ago. They are still working great and I still absolutely recommend them.
@@sixwestpoint thanks for the reply. Which one would you recommend for military use ?
anyone know how many grams of gas it takes for boiling 0,5l of water?
I can’t answer that accurately I’m afraid but I can tell you they aren’t too sore on the gas.
