I knew they’d stick with his old team set up, so before I battled him I went and switched to a water/ground and one dark type team. Still didn’t do all that great, but we beat him.
So Giovanni openly admits that he was holding back. He only let you win because he was impressed by your love of Pokemon. I love it. I mean, we'd still win even if he wasn't holding back, but still.

I just beat this whole thing with my starter being level 68. No legendaries, no affection bullshit. You dont have to be an expert, you just gotta understand typing, status, and form a plan based on past experience. Thunder Wave comes in handy for the legendary pokes. I have not seen a video where someone beat this whole thing skillfully yet.
Roaming22222 well over levels aren’t really a problem because some people just do a bunch of training before probably doing this, you never know. The Poke Refresh, I don’t really care tbh. It’s a big help in certain fights *cough* Necrozma *cough*, and by feeding Pokémon enough beans, you can get Rare candies, for those looking to grind. The way the person plays with the types I will not back up.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but do you really not know the typing on these pokemon? even if you didn't know them ahead of time, wouldn't the attacks you did be clear indications on what they had? the Nidoking for example is Poison/Ground, yet you were using a Grass and a Fairy type attack on it as if you thought it was pure Ground. and in a previous video you were fighting Ghetsis' Hydreigon (god this one drove me nuts), and even when you saw that Hydreigon was immune to Psychic type attack with it's Dark typing, you went and used Night Slash... please tell me what you were thinking, I am actually genuinely curious
