    I appreciate your passion and honesty, and appreciate you're speaking with experience of having finished the game. A lot of gaming channels give opinions on games without having actually played them.

    I also played through the whole thing and it is great it adds a lot of different interesting different types of Heros and Nemesises. I do agree that there are way way to many crystals and sparks but the way look at Aeons End is that I will be happy to have more and this really just gives you thousands of possible combinations to try in personal campiagns.

    The booklet in the box tells you how to integrate, what can and can't, and what to ignore after the campaign re: stickers.

    One of my favorite deck builders, but I haven’t had the chance to start the legacy version yet. Really looking forward to it.

    Nice Review, Chris. Excellent info. Just a heads up that you correctly said anti-climactic in your review but wrote anti-climatic on the screen we see for the video.

    Excellent review! I don’t disagree with anything you said. However I really loved the experience. I don’t expect to uncover everything in a campaign game, so having not seen 2-3 nemesis was expected. Also, seeing as this was the second AE box I bought after the core box, it gives me a ton of content for awhile. So it was well worth the price.
    The story was lame. It sets up exactly what the story is right from the start. Then you just meet new people and fight new nemesis, without the story doing anything until the end.
    I also modified the insert to fit the core box as well with room for more. So it CAN serve a purpose if done right.

      as only the second box that you’ve bought, I think you’re absolutely right

    From a person that also played solo 2-handed but it was my first experience with Aeons End I really liked but I also found a lot of points in common with you and that I agree or I can see it be a "problem".
    The insert is very bad, more specifically on the card's area, the cards slip in the breaches at the ends of the tray.
    Regarding the power, I can't speak because like I said it was my first experience. For example in my case, I preferred to upgrade the city that gave benefits independently of the mage that you choose.
    I thought that I wasn't playing very well but now I understand why. At the final battle(s) I struggled to win, I was thinking probably because I choose to update the city instead of the mages, probably I don't know exactly the strengths of that mages, probably I didn't choose the best market cards... the majority of the battles were tight and I won until the end. Some of the balance that I mentioned I think also makes the game cool.
    After playing (just the Gravehold side because no reset Pack) I kinda got myself lost on what is necessary and not to play the game as a not campaign game. I removed the stuff mentioned but there is some vague stuff that I don't know if I can use or if what I put is correct.

    Totally with you on the bookkeeping problem. Just finished the second scenario and it took us longer to set everything up and understand what we were supposed to do than actually play the Nemesis. In my eyes, making things complicated is not making games better, that's why I'm essentially an expansion sceptic. The story though I like so far. Hope we will some fun in the remaining campaign, though I'm not actually comfortable with a single mage so far...

      I wanted to try other majors but I agree, I felt more comfortable with staying with just two or three the whole time, which is a blessing and a curse at the same time when you’re given that many.

    I was planning to grab some Aeon's End content in the PM, but now I am just thinking about putting that money towards Star Realms Rise of Empire and saving a bit of cash at the same time.

    Ive never played Aeon's end is it good to just get a core box of the original and go from there, or is it better to just start closer to the new stuff?

    • @FortPlz
      @FortPlz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get a cheap used set on ebay and see if you like it. I think that's the smartest way to get started with the game.

    Just playing Legacy 1. So far so good. Not sure when I have time to go through Legacy 2, but I have decided not to mix any waves with each other. I skipped latest campaign. I might get it next year or so when there is a campaign for Aeon’s End 8. That is if Aeon’s End 7 is good.

      Hey, what are the pros and cons of mixing waves?

    • @nakanoFIN
      @nakanoFIN 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lucky6666 Well I haven’t felt the need of mixing the waves, but I haven’t played that much yet. Since each wave is designed at same time, my assumption is that mages, Nemeses and market cards and their mechanics work well together. Not too weak or too overpowered.

    Ok I discoverd Aeon's End in the beginning of this year and I bought war eternal and the 2 expansions. Now ive backed the last campaign and added the new age wave with all the mats. After seeing this review i will stick with that. Im not a big fan of legacy games. And it seems like the legacy aeons end doesnt really add what i am looking for. I fear that it would ruin my experience with it. Thanks for confirming what i was affraid for.

    Legacy of Gravehold is still in shrink. Im debating on selling it. I love Aeon's end but just finished the first legacy game and im feeling burnt out. It will sit on my shelf for now but a high chance ill sell.

    The worst part about the crystals and sparks in this version is that they not only give you WAY too many for the legacy game, then they turn around and give you just as many for the non legacy without the spaces for the stickers

    •  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I’ve never been a big fan of that. My biggest criticism has always been across-the-board the fact that they make everything standalone with these campaigns on crowdfunding. I mean I realize it from a business standpoint but I just wish it was different

    Great review, my Legacy of Gravehold is still in shrink. I love Aeon's End, but I feel it's getting way too bloated. There's just too many cards at this point (and yes, too many repeated components). I honestly wish they would stop making content for this game, there's more than enough at this point for many, many years of play. I feel compelled to buy it all, because I'm a completionist, but I actually feel a bit like..."ugh"...each time a new campaign for this game comes out. I think it's time to focus their efforts elsewhere. Just my opinion of course

      you nailed it on the head Steve. I haven't finished the 1st Legacy and haven't played Outcasts, New Age or the newest legacy. Didn't back the newest KS, somehow I resisted!
