    Is there a way to edit a PL tone?

    Thanks a lot for the quick and easy to follow instructions: I have a problem to receive the voice from a Midland G9. The G9 receive the TX from the 152 without problem and the 152 screen lights up in green and I see the RX cursor moving as well when I transmit from the G9 but I do not hear anything.
    The G9 has 38 CTCSS tones and for Ch1 I activated the N°01 (67.0 Hz) and set the same value on the 152 for the R & T CTCS Ch1 there, but to no results.
    Any advise / suggestion is most welcomed. TIA

      I do not have that radio anymore, but I would start from checking if 152 radio is receiving correctly and demodulated so please disable CTCSS on 152 RX and check if You can hear audio from G9. That's my first try.

      My man!
      Thanks for your quick and ready answer: I did as you suggested and now it works both ways. Possibly is a mismatch of the CTC freq used by the G9 but I used the values from their official table. Is there any difference between the CTCS used on the 152 and the CTCSS used on the G9?
      Thanks again M8!

      @@sanatkumarasharma3627 You are welcome, To be honest I can't answer that question, could be one reason that for example radio could TX CTCSS in offset that preventing correct decoding for example 67.2 Hz, i had situation like this, one radio accept that fluctuation and open, other not. For G9 (code number 1) CTCSS it should be set 67.0 Hz on 152. From what I read You understand concept, but just to make sure 152 accept CTCSS in Hz number. If problem is deviation -offset You can try other CTCSS for example (code number 2 - 71.9Hz) and on 152 try set 71.9, if not working 72, if not working 71.8 - just try if it's not offset little bit. Also make sure You have good step 6.25kHz on 152 because having it wrong for example 5kHz could make difference in proper decoding - it might look working at close range. You can always use DCS instead CTCSS and check if that help.

      Thanks a bunch for taking the time to answer: I came to realize that the CTCS is not essential but just a way to exclude listening to others who do not have that same CTCS using that same channel.
      I mean, these others they can still listen to your conversation but you will not listen to theirs. It will be easier and safer to switch to a different channel if you do not want to hear all their chatter while talking to someone specifically...

    I have a problem with my 152. Today I tried to talk to a midland G9 PMR radio. I didn't use a ptt or headset.
    The
    problem is, I can hear everything fine coming from the midland to the
    TRI but on the midland my voice is very quiet. Does this have anything
    to do with a setting or is the microphone really that bad?

    • @ElectronicNoobBlog
      @ElectronicNoobBlog  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's same as mine two, mic is on the quite side but then i realize that is good because it's not transmit other peoples in noise environment.
      I don't know any way of boosting it from front panel.
      When You learn where to speak it work perfect, but i have problem with people who don't know this radio.
      You can see on video, i made small white sticker, it fade away but there is written mic and you need to speak there, not in front of grill, or right side (like You would normally do), only left hole will pick up.
      Hope it help

      Have You try select dynamic microphone from menu? //I don't own that radio so i can't tell You where but i read in some ad that it have that option to work with genuine army. Should be something like Condenser / Dynamic.

    Greetings, my name is Paul, I have the same radio, that said, for some reason I'm not able to save the Offset when programming a frequency in a "Repeater" operation, I don't know what else to do, I follow all the steps in your video except for the portion of simplex operation, due to the fact that I want to access a "Repeater". Every parameter, except the "Offset" in this case -.600 will be saved.🤦‍♂️
    Please help me.

      Hello, I don't have this radio from couple years so I don't be good help for You since I can't try anything myself. Some ideas: 1) Maybe You can get programming cable and program separate TX/RX where TX will be including offset) - 2) this one as dirty trick not real solution - use double VFO - on one program repeater output on another input that way You can jump between. 3) maybe offset is global parameter (sound stupid, but this is china :>) - maybe You need to set it up while having radio in receiving mode not in programming. Good Luck!

    Where did you get the printout again? Can I get a printout of any radio? Also, I have Thales handset and a Harris modified handset that looks like an old phone handset. When attached to the radio, the radio speaker is supposed to shut off and the handset speaker is supposed to be the only one that works. Mine is not doing that. Both speakers continue to work. Is there a way to fix this.?

    • @ElectronicNoobBlog
      @ElectronicNoobBlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frequency table You get from another radio manual or programming software (read config) or You just set own frequencies and program them to other radios.
      TRI PRC-152 (plastic one) won't work with army headset, first it's using short pins for muting internal speaker here i describe it ( th-cam.com/video/kwq0R_CvpVY/w-d-xo.html ) but also it have different mic impedance (dynamic vs capacitance) so there is no way of being able transmit clean good level audio via real handset / headset without signal conversion. I assume You have like mine on video plastic one because new have ability to disable internal speaker and change microphone type form menu.

    do u recommend the radio? dows it worth the money? can I use the original peltor ptt on it?

    • @ElectronicNoobBlog
      @ElectronicNoobBlog  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not recommend that radio (this is old model, with plastic case) (in term of range, quality it's compared to Baofeng).
      This model do not allow use real military accessory (they use dynamic microphone and they require additional circuitry to work).
      They have new model, have metal body, allow use military headset and is HF version - i never tried it because it's to expensive but it's looking good in case of replica and HF version would offer greater range in woods than UHF and VHF.

    Seems like an incredible waste of money for something that's not even hard-wire programmable. What I don't get, is that it's operating on Ham Tech freqs and people are using them without a license. But then again, other radios have been doing the same for years. You can get the same and much more functionality for about 75 bucks, why are people tossing their money?

    • @ElectronicNoobBlog
      @ElectronicNoobBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From time perspective those old versions were indeed waste of money. New version (all metal body) that are interchangeable with genuine parts are great for all SAR operations (with genuine mil spec accessories). I show how to program into PMR446 as general safety precaution so people don't TX on factory test frequencies or on some random FREQ that can be not only in HAM band but police / ems / - if someone want work illegal I want make sure they do it without harming anyone.

      @@ElectronicNoobBlog These guys are spending 250 to 500 bucks (depending on what they get) on these things and to buy one just to replace inferior parts with "genuine" parts is to me, even a bigger waste of money. Of course, you would only do that if a component failed, if only in the dead of night in a snow storm. So, I guess you can spend a few hundred bucks on a radio, then spend another 100 or so on converting to "genuine" parts or, enjoy the snow?

    • @ElectronicNoobBlog
      @ElectronicNoobBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tackanderson4270 You miss understand me, I'm not referring to replacing any internal parts but using real accessories that have superb quality (antenna, battery, chargers, headset, handset, pouches) - all of this including metal shell with good seal gasket make perfect radio for field application for SAR operations (work in channelized mode so can be handled to non technical people). (I'm referring to new model from 2021 not this one from video) - I will make video and tell couple things about radio failures in field showing on Motorola that cost couple times more and still if You fall on them, hit on body - they get damaged.
