Thanks! You saved me a trip to the Bobcat dealer or worse, a ruined engine. It took me a couple of hours to follow these steps for my MT85, but if I hadn’t had to hunt for a deep well 10mm socket it would have went a lot faster. I hope my tip goes a little way toward encouraging you to make more helpful content. Because I definitely found this helpful!
we bought a rollover mt55 from a auction that was rolled for dirt cheap .Got it home it was smoking like a chimney.Pulled all glow plugs out did compression test we were getting around 410-420 psi from all but 1 cylinder the bad one was 290 .Pulled off head and top deaded all cylinders and bad one was down 1/8 inch .Pulled engine and found a bent rod .amazing it did not snap. All together about a 500 fix runs as good as new now
good info! flipped my mini skid a week ago and struggled to find a good info about what to do. After some research I did the same trick with the glow plugs and it is fine now. I wish I saw this video earlier, it would save me some time and some oily mess.. So I'll live this comment to pop it up a little for the future strugglers to find it easier :)
Great explanation. My worker rolled my new wacker sm100. I’m in the middle of doing just this and it took me hours of research to figure out how, would’ve been nice to find this first. Also yanmar engine is horrible to work with, glow plug access is impossible. That’s what I’m struggling with now.
I just learned this!!!!!!! When you roll over often times driver accidentally activates auxiliary (breaker action) if this stays activated when rolled upright the machine won’t start. I did everything in this video and more and couldn’t figure it out. It was as simple as putting the hand lever back in normal position. MAAAAAN!!! Cheers to that make sure you check your levers/seat pushed down/ safety bar are all down when trying to start al!
I just watched another video where it cost a guy $400 to service the engine after rollover and that was not on scene that was in shop. It took him like 8 hours or something to flip it over, load on a trailer, drive it to shop and pick it up from Shop. My comment to him was learn how to service it yourself. Much less time. Thanks for your video! 👍
I rolled mine 3/4 of the way over a couple days ago , i lowered the boom and backed up , it came back upright ,( foot crusher if your not careful) i was a little worried about that oil hydrolock , but i do have a donor motor on my kubota bx2380 , same motors ..800 hours , my little mt100 bobcat paid for itself ..so did the little kubota bx2380 in 560 hours ...same job sites usually ..who gets used more ..bob the mini bobcat
Just rolled mine a couple days ago. A new engine will run you about $5000 plus tax and shipping. And that's if YOU put it in. Getting it shut off as it tipped over saved mine.
Tipped my MT85 over today. I had it shut off in seconds and upright in less than 5 minutes (there was an excavator nearby). I’ve pulled the glow plugs and they are sooty but dry. Do I still need to crank it over with the glow plugs removed or am I good to reassemble since they are dry? If I do crank it over with them removed, should I expect oil to come out? Also, on the MT85 I had to pull the air box and muffler to get access to the glow plugs. And a deep well 10mm is helpful to get the glow plugs out.
@@tetradgroup ok, so thank you so much for the recommendation to go ahead and crank it over with the glow plugs removed. Despite the plugs being clean, the cylinder furthest from the radiator was full of oil. The middle cylinder had some oil, and the cylinder closest to the radiator had no oil. I was able to clear the oil, replace the glow plugs, and start it up. It smoked briefly but sounded normal. It seems somewhat reluctant to start sometimes now, but otherwise seems to operate just fine. I’m positive I would have damaged something if I had assumed the clean plugs meant no oil and cranked it with them reinstalled.
Hi, I'm the guy who has been watching all your videos. I recently bought a 2010 S330 A5HA35*** from Ritchie Brothers Auctions. The previous owner was an asphalt business. The S330 has about 4450 hrs. It has the keyless start key pad and green screen. It is programed to not use a password. I asked the asphalt owner if he knew the factory password. At first he said it was the last 5 digits of the serial number. Then he said the computer was changed and they had it programmed to avoid password entry. It's been too cold here, -4 Chicago area for me to play with it. I have not tried the vin number digits. If those don't work how do I figure out the password? I'd be happy to pay an advice fee. Thanks.
While unloading my 2010 S330 from a step trailer I almost rolled it backwards onto the cab roof. The S330 was put on the step trailer facing forward by a big fork lift. I wanted to spin it around so I could drive forward down the ramps. But after seeing ‘HowIDidit’ video of a skid steer going out of control knocking a fence down I was afraid to spin it around on the step trailer. I slowly backed it down the ramps. It started picking up speed. I released the levers to neutral. The front end started going up in the air. So I continued backing up. The front end came down a little then skid steer started speeding up going down ramp again. I released levers a little and front end was pointing strait up in the air and still rolling back. All I could see was sky. I was expecting to be hanging upside down in the seat in the median of a 2 lane highway. Suddenly something hit hard and the S330 stopped rolling over backwards and came all the way down on the end of the ramps. I had never drove a Bobcat before. Without an attachment on the front the Bobcat was weighted to roll backwards. 70% of a Bobcats weight is in the back. The semi truck driver started running when he saw the Bobcat rolling backwards. He thought for sure it was going on its back. He was more scared than me.
I Just bought a used T650 2019 and I don't have the security code to get into the security settings so I can lock the machine, it's keyless. Bobcat wants $400 to clear the existing code out so I can put a new operator code in. Do you have a method to clear that out?
I need to do the same on my 2010 S330. I was told maybe the code is the last 5 digits of the VIN number. It has been too cold to work on it. I don’t have a tall enough door or building to bring it inside. Mine has a caution light on top of cab. My 16 foot wide garage door is about 82 inches high. That is not high enough. At 9000 lbs I am afraid of cracking the cement floor. Windchills are terrible.
If you manage to sneak up on a bobcat, or any feline for that matter, that is laying on its side do not attempt to scratch its belly... it will freak out and scratch the shit out of you!
So I have seen folks not shut them off and the sump go dry. How does so much oil get into the combustion chamber? Valve guides, rings? Interesting video thanks
I have an employee that tipped one over on a fairly steep hill was tipped over for about an hour. Employee says he shut it off within 3 seconds of him jumping off the machine. Motor at the moment will not turn over under starter power. I don’t believe there was ample enough time for damage to be done on the motor however I’m not sure why it will not turn over with glow plugs removed? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Machines have fuses that’ll burn to prevent further damage. I would check fuses and relays if they are all good (specifically glow plug and starter relay, all fuses) I would check to see if anything got nocked off or pulled off like wires. And if it’s still not turning over I would look at as many TH-cam videos as possible. And if that fails I’d buy a beer and call bobcat triple A while talking shit to liberals on instagram. 😅
it's all nice. but if you start the engine around like this and it has gone around 5x, you can just screw things back up again .. Starting 30x makes no sense. . we have over 30 bobcats running so I know what I'm talking about

Wow, how complicated was that rod replacement job?

My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
So let me get this correct? U can bend a connector rod byt just turning it over? Even if u shut it down asap

Just out of curiosity do you have the title for that video
@@roughpatchroad no, My comment was 9 months ago. I don't remember. I do remember the guy had to use a winch or something to get it up on a trailer.

Could you possibly do some videos on cooling fan and reverse fan setups and common problems?
On loaders 590 and larger machines too?
Thank you for the suggestion! I will see what I can do...stay tuned!
Set up right and bar over back and forth to push oil by ringing and pray
Hey where do I find the glow plugs is my question

What if it keeps on smoking. After I did all that
I have a bobcat t450 throwing a code. m4662. Do you have any videos on this or any tips
Thank you for sharing
Are you able to demonstrate if a skid steer or a excavator gets on its side how to write it with the bucket or the arm

It won't hurt to turn the engine over with glow plugs removed. Just be on the safe side. You may not see oil, which would be a good thing
@@tetradgroup will do. Thank you!

Past the rings. Worked for a large rental company, we had many rolled over and fully submerged over 15 years I worked for them.
That had to be an oh $&@! moment. Good thing it was a rental. Glad nobody got hurt. Great advise!
And next time you complain a rental price is high, now you no why.
It actually was not a rental, customer just bought it two weeks ago! Scary stuff for sure.
Or just use a long tow strap.or use a winch on your truck.pull it up on th trailer .Or call bobcat dealer and they will come out.
