- In todays video, I show you guys how my new tires handle offroad and see if the jeep is ok having bigger tires with no lift or different wheels with a different offset! I hope you guys enjoy and if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment down below!

Super informative video that covered all of the common questions regarding going to 35"s on a stock rig. The comments and your responses have been equally helpful. Great job!
I love this look on the Jeep the most and for a daily driver this is a great setup. I would think this is perfect for going most anywhere if need to be.
Great video) Regarding the K02s, I think that 315/70r17s measure 34.1 inches tall when inflated to 35LBS psi. Please correct me if I am in error. Looking for tires. but not willing to give up my wheels. I drive a Willys 2018JK. I'm kind of on the fence trying to make an intelligent purchase. I keep coming back to those K02s)
Thank you. This also helped me find out that my stock wheels(that I love😍) will fit some 35’s🙌🏼 No need to replace them then
Love the look of the jeep. I probably won't be going anywhere that tough so I appreciate the vid. Makes me feel better about possibly going bigger.
Great and informative video! Were they true 35"? Looks like you kept the stock spare holder too? Did you recalibrate your speedometer?
This is exactly what I was looking for before buying 35 inch tires for my stock 17 inch rim.
I work at a tire store. We mounted 37's on stock wheels of a 2018 Rubicon with a 4" lift. No rubbing.
Entertaining video. The OEM wheels always seem to look great with bigger tires.
Wow, excellent video skills, the image is crispy! Nice JL!!
Thanks man!
Thank you! Also watched the prior video you shot leading up to this one. New Jeep owner here. Purchased a brand new 2 door Willys last year and I'm still getting a rush each time I drive! I specifically chose the Willys due to the larger 32" stock tires with the 1" lift. A year has passed, and now I'm craving a slightly more aggressive look for her. Just wasn't sure if 35s were going to be too big, but after seeing your video it looks like the proportions are good! I also thought bigger tires meant adding an additional lift, but I can see now that it's unnecessary.... might even be a bit overkill. Wondering how your 35s effect your driving/handling and mileage?? She's my daily ride!
I take my trailhawk to hidden falls all the time!! Can’t wait to own a 2 door rubicon one day
I basically use hidden falls as my proving grounds 😂. Every new off-road thing goes out there. just took the 392 out there for the first time a yesterday
Swaybar disconnected or not? That makes a big difference. Lets see those front bumpstops when stuffed. Looks good, thanks for sharing.
Sway bar was disconnected as soon as I put it in 4 low 🤙🏻
You can get away with it but depends on speed and it's very close. 2 in lift is advised. It helps the appearance too. Thanks
@ 5:23 That climb was beautiful to watch.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this information. I have the exact same Jeep as you and it is good to know I can put 35s on the stock rims.😁
🤙🏻 thanks for watching!
@@drivenmad2089 you’re welcome
Oh, 3M floor mats with the red 3M logo only comes for a four door Jeep but I just purchased them anyway for my two door but they look great..
The video I was looking for, thanks for the information, one question, can you tell me the measurements of these tires and the brand? Thank you !
What PSI do you air down to? Wonder if an extra inch of wheel width helps on the no rubbing front? Was nice to see that min 2 finger fender spacing on your biggest flex test. It’s amazing what a 2Dr Rubi can climb almost effortlessly!
I started at 18 psi then went to 16 psi. The majority of the video was at 16psi. And you’re right, always fun to see what stock jeeps will walk up!
Found your channel, doing some research on JL's do you prefer the 2- door I'am kinda leaning towards this style? Great content good information thanks
Thanks for watching! And for me personally I like the 2 door better because off-road it’s got the best break over angle, is super easy to maneuver and since I don’t have kids the backseats are good for the occasional 3 or 4 person trip and then when I go on a long trip I can just remove them all together for more space. But if you have kids, the 4 door will be MUCH better day to day getting people in and out of the back. But if no for me and what I do it’s 2 door all the way 👍🏻
I have the same color, same year but 4-door. Do you think, with the exact 35" tires, there will be no rubbing for 4-door as well?
Great video thank you I think I’m going to get 35 now because of you
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Great video. You drive that manual up those steps like a boss. Do the tires rub the sway-bar when turned all the way left or right? I'm looking at getting KM3's that size.
Thanks dude! And nope haven’t noticed any rubbing at all, period!
Great vid, I am thinking of this on my 23 rubicon 4 door. Did it rub when full turn climbing a rock or obstacle. Also have you done any of this with some more weight? A passenger and possibly some gear? I think the extra pounds might get it to rub, but still this was impressive.
First thing I am doing with mine is adding 35s. I saved the spare BFG KO2s from when I got rolled over on my JK. The dealer said that adding 35s voids the warranty but I can always put the 33s back on 😂😂
Did you add the 35's?
@rginla yes.. currently in 40s lol
Excellent video, thanks so much for sharing. Love the Rubi!
Thanks for watching!
Great info may go up to 35, keep up the good work
Appreciate it!
Thanks for watching!
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is the king when it comes to off-roading.
Very true! Stock for stock, from the factory, nothing can touch a wranglers capability!
Thanks for watching!
Wow, you a brave man! Did you use offset/wheel spacers? I needed this video for confirmation for my own build. Probably not as good on the sport S but I'm still doing 35's now no lift at first! Thanks!
No spacers were added. However since you said you have a sport, the only reason 35’s fit with no lift is because the rubicon trim has the high line fenders. So you’ll probably run into to some rubbing eight the regular sport fenders.
@@drivenmad2089 Thanks for the reply, I have seen Extreme Terrain videos with 35's on no-lift Sport/Sport S with no rub as long as you use a 17x9 with good offset and backspacing and remove the front bumper wind guard. I've even seen it on a Willys. Now, the Willy's does have Rubi-ish suspension setup, but the fenders are not higher. I'll triple triple check before I pull the trigger, but I think it just may work. If not, I can go 305/70R 17's (34.4") or probably be happy with 117T rated 285/70R 17s 33" ATs, It's a daily driver. Thanks for reply! Keep up the videos, they help a lot!
@drivenmad Measuring from the hardtop to the ground, what is the total height of your Rubicon? I have a possible incline issue getting into my garage. Thank in advance!
Such a fun vehicle.
How is she on the highway w/the bigger tires? I love mine so far being still factory. I purchase 3W floor mats that fir & look better than the Mopar mats. I’ll send you pics soon.
Gotta a video going over all the “on road” stuff that should be up this Sunday! 😁
Do you think you'll re-gear for the bigger tires?
You took off front bumper extensions with them on I think you might have rubbed !!!
Cool I got pretty much a white one with manual, wondering how the ride and mileage is on those 35 E load.
Looks like he's running 315/70R17 BFG KO2 which are load C (in fact they are the only KO2 almost 35's that are C) . 'The KO2 35x12.5R17 are load E and I think about 10+ lbs heavier each and unless you're running a heavy rig they (in my opinion) would be way too stiff.
Great video. Did you have to add spacers?
Nope, did nothing else other than add the tires!
Thanks for me watching!
Good video thanks. Looking forward to the road review also.
Thanks man! And i should have that out this coming Sunday👍🏻
So the trick is Rubicon suspension and high clearance fenders
The high clearance fenders help a lot for sure!

I just got a ticket for speeding in the 1LE and Im thinking about getting something like this. At least off-road i don't have to worry about traffic citations.
Haha that’s true!
I feel ya. I came from a Mustang GT. Got 1 ticket and always felt cops trolling me around. Not the case with my Rubicon and I'm having just as much fun, especially with a manual. The ability to go just about anywhere feels awesome.
@@Offroadandbackroads just sold my gt for a rubicon for the same reason.
I have a 2022 jeep wrangler rubicon 2 door 2.0 . I’m currently running 35s M/T and do you recommend tuning the transmission or are we fine on running the tires without it?
Are you using 35 x 12.5 R17 rtire? Thanks!
Ottimo video grazie , equipaggerò il mio JK Rubicon +2;5 “ senza problemi 👍🏼🇨🇮🇺🇸
Awesome! Please provide the tire size for the 35 KO2s. Thanks! Was it 12.5 on a stock rim?
These are 315/70R17. They’re technically 35’s but compared to the 35x12.5 they’re only .2 inches smaller but weigh less
Thanks for watching!
@@drivenmad2089 awesome. Thank you!
Just found this video awesome job!! Are you running the spare also. And if you are did you have to change the spare tire holder or hinges
Yep ran the stock tire Carrier even after adding new wheels. Upgraded to the mopar hinge carrier and I’d go with the full Teraflex kit or just leave it stock if you’re just gonna run 35’s. If you plan on running 37’s or larger then teraflex is the way to go!
Thanks for watching!
What about tire pressure for on road driving and tire wear? I've read some in forums and they indicate potential problems with tire wear but a lower psi would correct that. I'm on the same path. Just ordered a 2022 Rubicon and will be adding 315's instantly. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I run 40-45PSI on the road and have had 0 issues at all with anything as far as wear. BFG them selves recommend 45 with 35’s
First!!😋. Nice flexing!!! And no rub that's awesome. Need to get my 63 K10 going and take to HF.
Seems like once you do your first mod, the rest just kind of follow 🤷
Just don’t tell my wallet that 😜
Do you think 35’s on a 2 door are like 37’s on a 4 door?
Or 35’s are like 40’s on a 4 door? LoL, Serious question.
Reason why I ask is I’m going to order a Rubicon, can’t decide if I want the manual or AT, 4.10 or 4.88 gears. Currently have a Jeep TJ manual as a my DD with 31’s. Love it.
Id say breakover angle wise it’s more like 37’s on a 4dr.
if you get the manual and you want to slap on 35’s without a doubt go with the 4.88 gears. The auto having two extra gears should be fine with 35’s. But if you think you may add heavier wheels and 37’s then if you get the auto get the 4.88. Since the V6 is pretty gutless haha
Thanks for watching hope that helps!
@@drivenmad2089 what’s better for longevity you think, auto or manual? What motor is better for longevity, 2.0 or the 6 cylinder? My wife has the 2.0 Rubicon and her Jeeps been in the shop more than my TJ oddly enough.
@@dad3562 the 2DR now has over 60k miles and it’s been fine(my parents are driving it now since I have the 392)The 3.6 is pretty reliable. And I haven’t heard anything one way or the other about the auto or manual in terms of reliability.
Just purchased my 2dr Rubicon yesterday. So far, I am loving it but I think I want to go with 35's. However, looking at your vids, your's looked like it sat higher stock than mine does... How much space do you have between your tire and fender with your current 35's?
Shouldn’t be any higher and unfortunately I can’t tell you anymore since it’s now Got a 2inch lift on it that I put in it before I went to Moab.
Thanks for watching!
Hello I’m Javier and deaf. I have my 2012 Jeep Wrangler 2DR 4x4 that I put 2” spacer lift suspensions so can 35” fit on my Jeep? I believe it will fit. I’m not heavy off road, just dirty and little bumps and use my Jeep for work transportation everyday...So, I ask you that can 35” fit my Jeep? Thank you...
2dr Jeeps Rule!!!!🤘🏽
Looks good! What did the KO2s measure in at? Was it a true 35? Curious to know. Some have said they measure just below a 35.
They do measure below 35”. Whether you get the 315/70/R17 or the 35X12.5 they both, unmounted measure 34.4 and 34.6 respectively.
@@drivenmad2089 this is helpful! Thank you!
Looks really good, how much psi on the tires to you drop down to when off roading?
I ran 16-17psi. It felt a little too stiff actually. So I might try a couple psi lower and see how that feels. I ran my 33’s at 12-15psi that was good for those
@@drivenmad2089 ,Ok good to know. Thanks bud.
@@dinoinphx no problem dude! Thanks for watching!
Great video and I love these because I just ordered a 2-dr rubicon stick shift and it's my first jeep. I want to ease into the mods and I'm looking at the same 35" K02s but on rims that will stick out 2 more inches. Does the outer edge of the fender flare sort of curve down over your tire and do you think I might hit the edge of it? Could basically lose an inch of clearance that way? Looking at 3:49 which looks like the closest.
Thanks for watching! And the outer part of the fender does flare down a little bit nothing drastic but it does for sure. If you’re going to do a drastic change on the wheels to where they stick out a lot more then you might run into an issue. If they’re not too crazy I think you’ll be fine 👍🏻.
@TP - Just got my ‘21 Rubi with 35’s. 1) Coordinate with your sales manager PRIOR to delivery and they might swap the 33” BFG’s for a tire of your choice at just the difference in price between the two. Otherwise you’ll take a $$ hit on the exchange due to having “used” tires, even if they only have 10 miles of driving from the dealer to the tire shop. 2) Watch for a sale on new wheels of your choice. I picked up some sweet ICON Rebound 17x8.5’s a couple weeks ago @ 4WheelParts for full $229 ea price, then took advantage of their 30-day competitor Price Match policy when they went on-sale elsewhere for 20% off over Black Friday. The ICON ‘s one inch wider 4.5/-6 stance is maybe 1” wider than stock & that’s a perfect compromise for my 35” Nitto tires (imo). 3) @tiresize.com has an awesome Wheel Offset Visualizer/Calculator that allows you to compare your old tire/wheel combo to a new one and “see” how they will look. THAT was invaluable to give confidence I’d be getting the look I was after. Now with Dakota’s excellent video and until I can test myself, I’m 95% certain my combo won’t rub as well. 4):Lift? Maybe a small one down the road. But for now, I like the “hunkered down” puppy with big paws look!

How did you do it?

@@drivenmad2089 Thanks. You said you were thinking of a lift. Did you get the Mopar?
Did you put spacers as well. Do you need spacers
Not bad! Did you air down? Do you plan to lift still? Do you regret not getting the 4 door and why or why not?
👍🏻😎
Yep I aired down to about 15 PSI and I do actually have plans to do a lift pretty soon! And I’m super happy with the 2 door. I don’t have kids or dogs so the 2 door is perfect for me. I can take 2-3 people on a short off-road trip or take the rear seats out and have plenty of space for a multi day trip 👍🏻

Did you have any problems with the TPMS dash lights after installing the 35's? Mine lit up on a 2022 JLUR but I went with after market wheels (17x9) and with aftermarket sensors that were included with the new wheels. I noticed your setup kept the 35's in your wheel wells where as mine stuck out about an inch.
haven't had any TPMS issues on the 2 door or my 392 when I added larger tires or different wheels.
as far as the tires sticking out, that's just own to the offset of the wheels. my new wheels stick out just a little bit.
Thanks for watching!
@@drivenmad2089 Thank you for your reply, will be getting Mopar oem sensors.
And you used stock rims 👌🏽
I have a JL Wrangler Rubicon as well. Did the larger tires make your gas milage or ride quality any worse?
Just adding the larger tires not a whole lot worse MPG and the ride got better actually.
Thanks for watching!
Doesn’t the Rubicon come with a factory height that’s 2 inches higher than the other JLs ?
It doesn’t come with a lift, but the fenders are what’s called “high line finders” so they allow more clearance than the regular fenders 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
How wide are the tires?
Great video, ride looks nice! Was it fully flexed out, i.e. hitting the bump stops? I'm guessing no, otherwise it looks like there's almost room for 37's on stock suspension. I have a stock 2 door JL Rubicon and about to make the same tire leap as you.
It was very close. Another inch on one of those sections and I would’ve had a wheel in the air just a a tad. But the fit super easy. With some different wheels we’ll have to see how that goes.
Thanks for watching!
Just found your video - thanks, it helped me finally make a decision between the 2 KO2 35's... The winner for me is KO2 315/70R17 (not the 35x12.5) for exactly the reason you mention above... I also wanted the C load rating, not E - I have the JLUR (granite too, w/manual) and may or may not go for the lift in the future, but wanted a little more in the clearance and looks department. From what I have learned some 35x12.5 will rub a little on the liner if you really stuff it, the 315/70R17 KO2's give you 1/2" less diameter and a little less width which seems to be all the margin you need to fully clear in almost all circumstances. I'm waiting on a new set of wheels to be delivered and we'll see in the next few weeks how it goes.
@@dennisj3879 glad I could help man! I’m looking at getting some new wheels here soon too so we’ll see what that does when you push it a little off-road!

What width tire was that?
When compressed was it on the bump stops?
Yep, no issues while on full lock. And the width it 315MM so 12.4 inches. And I don’t remember specifically looking at the bump stops it I would assume if they weren’t touching when I had it flexed they were pretty close.

How about the spare tire? Did you change the tire carrier for 35 spare tire? Or not?
Nope still the stock carrier. It has a height adjuster for the brake light 👍🏻

Great video!
What is the tire and size?
Can you give me the tire size/brand. I definitely want to put these on my list.
They’re BFG KO2 all terrains. The size I have on these is 315/70R17
What tires did you install?
KO2s are fine for the dry stuff or a little mud but are not a serious tire for real mud , Mickey Thompson Baja Boss is a better , longer lasting tire .
Did you put a 35” on the spare? If so how did it fit on the stock carrier? And issues or need for relocation bracket?
Yep put a 35 on the spare. No issue all I did was adjust the 3rd brake light to sit higher which can be done pretty easily since it has a height adjuster.

@@drivenmad2089 Careful, tho. It's not designed to old a tire as heavy as a 35". You will need the Mopar reinforcement thing or a third party tire carrier.
@@123456789billybobjoe The JL hinges are absolutely capable (better design than the JK) of carrying a 35" tire w/ the stock or similar weight wheel. Don't waste your money on the reinforcement unless you go with a heavy wheel (i.e. beadlocks) or at least 37" tires.
@@darrenroos6408 not true... The tailgate hinges will eventually start to warp and bend with the additional weight... you’ll have to slightly lift the tailgate to close it when that happens
@@123456789billybobjoe I think you are basing your assumptions/experience on the JK tailgate. The JL tailgate is made of different materials, different welds, different design, and overall much stronger hinges than the JK. That said I have 200K miles on a JK with a 35" on the stock hinges and 50K miles on my JL with a 37" tire on the original hinges and absolutely no issues with either. Now, as I mentioned above, it's not the size of the tire that matters as much as the weight of the assembly. A heavy beadlock wheel with a mud terrain tire driving down a washboard road daily might be a different story. My comments are based on my own experience but a few other online examples are these: th-cam.com/video/B69m87-Xh6U/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/rbM3cNPBNCc/w-d-xo.html

A Willy’s would be able to do it for sure. Tire placement would be a bit more important if your on stock tires and some spots you might want to have lockers but the majority of this trail you could definitely do
What about a locked full turn? Does it rub laterally?
nope! no rubbing what so ever!

These vids only serve to confuse new JEEP owners. 35's scrub on stk. Period. Every one of these guys ends up installing a lift before next vid. Full stop.
Except on rubicons they don’t….
I’ve done this on both my 2 door and my 392 and never had any issues when off-roading or daily driving. If you try to do that on a sport or Sahara then yeah you’re gonna run into problems.
@@drivenmad2089 i thought you admitted a scrub on the video. 😂 & you said in the comments you added a lift shortly after. So yes, they'll roll but they'll scrub & it's too much tire without extra lift. Take into account mud &/or snow/ice buildup and that 2" space is inadequate. No one will be satisfied doing this without an evental lift, is all I'm saying. To the guys who just want a bit more tire, stick to an aggressive 33.
I don't mean to insult your video. Just trying to clear up my own confusion when I was researching tire sizes & kept seeing these 35 vids where everything is kosher but in reality it is not.
