      Got my tools off competitors trucks, filled back in with originals! (About half price-same warranty) used a lot of good AMERICAN tools over the years; snap on, Mac, matco, cornwell...proto, Williams, Herbrand, SK, CT, even Craftsman. As long as you have the tool you need to do the job..the best warranty doesn't help if the tool fails before the job is done. Master Diesel tech, retired x3

      Snap on makes the best ratchets, but I’ve been somewhat disappointed with their wrenches. I have a 10mm flare nut wrench that’s absolutely terrible on what flare nut wrenches are supposed to be great at. Their flank drive xtra is better, but it uses tighter tolerances at the cost of not fitting everything I want it to.

      It wasn't a fair comparison. Snapon does the same thing with a similar wrench called the flank drive. Hell they invented it

    • @jonnda
      @jonnda 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThomasShue In my opinion, only flank drive xtra comes close to this level of grip. Unfortunately, the tolerances are so tight that they will not fit on every fastener, especially if rust gets involved. Wright says they have a patent on Wrightgrip, snap on probably has a patent on flank drive. It’s probably different enough. In my opinion, SnapOn makes the best ratchets. But I’ve ordered a set of wrightgrip wrenches because of the level of quality for the money, and I’m convinced Wright beat Snap On at the open end wrench game. 18 piece Wright metric wrench set 958 was around $250 shipped to my door. A 10 piece Snap On Metric Flank Drive wrench set SOEXM710 is $426.

    So I've been a mechanic for a few years now and currently looking to upgrade my wrench drawer. My father has a set of caterpillar wrenches that look exactly like these. Same non slip design, same profile with a thicker center that feels really confortable to use, all the way down to the style of font for the brand logo and size on the wrench itself. When I used them one day I was determined to get a set after loosening up the first bolt. Problem was finding a complete set without paying an arm and a leg for them. A fellow tech told me about these Wright Grips a couple weeks ago and I'm glad he did. I will be purchasing a couple sets very soon.

I purchased a standard length 3/8 fine tooth ratchet (for about half the cost of a Snappy) and absolutely love it! The smooth handle feels amazing in hand. Smooth and precise ratcheting! I’m planning on buying some semi-deep sockets and they will be Wright!

      Since they didn't show the wrench end up close, I would have to assume that it's a standard wrench and not a flank drive. Also, real tool reviews did a video showing both back in 2014. Yes, they both break the bolt head off. However, the technology is originally from snap-on. They held the patent for years.

Out in the oilfield they take an abusing proto sk and wright all hold up. I cant say the same for snap on. Older Craftsman work as well. I have used armstrong as well. Sometimes you have to put a three foot cheater pipe on a wrench.😂 Thats where the rubber meets the road. And which one survives the brine.

      @@karatekid6026 to continue on smaller size wrenches only like common wrenches, 1/4 to 1" no speciality I really dig the armstrong. They are very very comfortable and unbreakable tho they don't bite hard so I use them on perfect condition nuts and bolts so it's keeping them intact. I don't have those size in proto so can't comment and for Snap on I'm sorry but they bite like none and they never open, people around me on site borrow mine all the time, anyway I like them but they are just not as comfortable. I have JH Williams USA it's standard. I have cheap ones to that I like to mod and weld, they are crap you can't work with these seriously they just open and bent when you pry so it's a waste but sometimes you absolutely need that Frankenstein welded 24" lever. I kinda thought that too but it's hard to tell really. The wright has extra flats cut into the head of the wrench and it might just be sitting up higher cause it's actually locked onto the flats of the bolt instead of stripped and laying downward. Idk of course but even if he used a complete new bolt head that was super impressive to see the wright wrench snap the head off of the bolt using open end of the wrench.

    The first socket set I bought over 30 years ago was a Wright. The only reason I have others is I have lost some. the rest are still going strong

    Thank you for this one. I’ve heard of and seen Wright tools only as brief flashes on tool comparison videos here and there the past few years. I’d love to know more about the how, where, and whys about them. Stay safe.

    I own a full set of WrightGrip 2.0 wrenches in Metric. Beefiest wrenches you can put in your hands, the chrome on it is top notch.
