My favourite part is that no side is willing to over invest which really adds to the immersion. Kill em all last stands should be rare! Great job as usual 💪
You "numbered" your BattReps! I came here to suggest that, so thank you - thank you! I enjoy watching these and now I can start at the beginning. Thanks again.
On turn three the wheeled scouts were in the rear arc of the Banshee so they should have done two points of damage each instead of one for a total of six points of damage. Even more of a reason to blow the bridge on turn three to take out the entire lace of scouts.
The Combined Arms Company is an interesting idea. Hatchets to brawl while Grasshoppers flanked & skirmished. I think it could have been done if Chupacabras had done a mad dash at the start instead of a gun line advance. Didn't help as well the terrain didn't give much in the way of cover. But they did okay. House Korbyn may have won the battle. But they lost more machines and somewhat more expensive assets than the cabras. Otherwise they did pretty damn well. But as mentioned they got greedy staying that extra turn and paid for it. Be very interesting what both sides took away from this battle and what Korbyn notice as well. Awesome series. Epic work. Can't wait to drop my own Cluster into action like this some day.
Man that was a fun fight, was excited to see melee in alpha strike but alas the next time for sure. That said they certainly spooked the other side as no one wants to get a hatchet to the head or torso. Love the fact that it’s the combined arms setup as that’s how I would want to play alpha strike. Fast scouts, artillery or air support or both, a core of heavy mechs to pin them in place. Already pumped for the next one.
Great video the little additions really make your videos unique. 2 Things I would have done differently as a player. #1. The bridge has a CF of 6. If I were House Korbyn I'd have targeted that bridge as soon as the vehicles were on it if not before. It's not useful to them anyway. #2. House Korbyn had an entire lance of good indirect fire capable mechs yet never attempted to remain behind cover while using a spotter. A mech can spot from up to 42 inches away so any mech could have stayed still in a good location so that the entire fire lance could remain hidden. At medium range the fire lance should have slaughtered mechs from cover with concentrated fire. That's what fire lances are for.
Not going to lie. I thought the defender should have retreated when they said they would. Most likely would have still held them back, and with lesser loses. Can't wait for the next update!
Another great battle. Tough fight, I feel If I was playing the Chupacabras I would have spent the first couple of turns sprinting to close the distance, but every commander is different. Still a fun battle to watch, thank you.
That's a good point. The Chupacabra player also remarked that if she could do it over, she would have stacked all her forces against the enemy's fire lance and try to take the southern part of the town and ignore taking the bridge (center of the map).
Love the content, keep it up! Looking forward to the recap of all these battles on the campaign map to get a better idea of the strategic situation and impacts
The initiative gods did House Korbyn a favor for sure this time around. Another great battle report - good to see Korbyn holding firm and duking it out, with 4 Banshees they have the metal to stay in the fight. They've just got to get rid of those god-awful Centurions though -- 2 structure? Eww. Fortunately, the Chupacabras seem to be happy to help them out with that...
@@WargamerStories To be fair, the Chupacabra Locust and Wasps seem to be doing alright. In a target rich environment, it pays to be a low threat target!
Not much to them, so I will tell you our secret. MDF boards to make the shape of the base. Then we glue on premade trees designed for epic scale train models. Then we cover the exposed ground with coffee grounds (which makes the battle field spell like a coffee shop). Then using glue add on some fake grass, tea leaves, or spices... (which makes the battle field spell like all kinds of things). That's about it. Maybe I can make one of those TH-cam shorts showing the process so you can have a visual guide as well. Hope that helps with your terrain crafting :D
Does any one know what models/where to get those ground vehicles they are using? The light wheeled scouts and the wheeled tanks from previous videos? Love these videos and those ground vehicle models, really wanna get my hands on some!!
I got them off of Etsy. There are many vendors selling them, so find the one with the best price and shipping. Search in Etsy for "6mm tanks" or "6mm vehicles". There are a lot of good options :)
They are painted black, lol! Yeah, I know right. I am thinking to do that for my Trench Crusade armies. Maybe not for BattleTech since we are using the colored hex bases
You know what, I think it is. And the majority of their forces were Green, which is also a first for them as well... and they lost. It goes to show skill (and luck) has a lot to do with success.
I would have loved to see House Korbyn destroy that bridge when the 4 vehicles were on it & over the river. Make them take fall damage & get at least 2 stuck in the stream. Also impede the enemy from sending their vehicles forward without repairing the bridge during strategic turns.
The player said the same thing after the battle. In the heat of the moment, the idea didn't occur to him. He was fixated on other things, I guess. A "missed" opportunity. But that's war gaming :)
The blue team is always going on about having meat to spare but all the battles are more or less evenly marched numbers wise and the BV is almost always on the red teams side. Are the chupacabras being played by a more experienced player? Blues seem confused constantly even when they win.
@@WargamerStories it's not a criticism, I was just wondering. Try to encourage them to commit more tho. Plenty of time they are doing well and then a timmid play loses them their advantage. Also the 1st idea is usually the best one.
No, not for the large battles. For smaller battles we have a in-house variable damage scheme - but we haven't had many small battles except for the first battle. I think there are few variable damage ideas out there. One I personally like is the one by DFA
Awesome match! I was really impressed with House Corbyn's ability to bloody the Chupacabra's noses considering the force differential. Can't wait for the next video, these videos and this campaign is so exciting I love it!
No, its a funny thing too. It was the Chupacabra player who wanted us to nix that rule from the very beginning (keep firing arcs, but don't do bonus damage to rear arcs). And then, she is the one with a chance to exploit a rear arc... go figure.
How does the Mech power balance work? Can you literally play your favorite 4 mechs in a Lance formation and expect to do so fine? Or do you need to math crunch to find the efficient combos?
A little from column A and B! There are size and type requirements for lance formations. That info is in the Alpha Strike Commander's Edition. There are other restrictions based on scenarios and what not that you can ignore or implement as you see fit. But, having a favorite mech is, IMHO, the most important ingredient :D
My favourite part is that no side is willing to over invest which really adds to the immersion. Kill em all last stands should be rare! Great job as usual 💪
I loved the overall battle exchange here. See an opportunity, take it. See a faulty defense, exploit it. Reach to far, get burned.
I love this game.
The effects you put in these battle reports are incredible. Really elevates the medium

Noticed that too
Great battle rep. Can't wait for the next one.
This format (strategic then tactical) is the gold standard!
Great idea setting this as a story mission. It makes the watcher more invested. Great video.

A Wraith and Banshee fight? The Wraith didn't have a ghost of a chance! Great report, as were all the others.
I knew there was a pun out there! And you delivered! Bravo!!!

Love these battle reports!
This was awesome!! The weapons fire animation was top notch! Subscribed!!
I love seeing all players think on their feet, and I can't wait to see the ramifications of this skirmish
It’s a hard decision to pull back when you’re gaining ground

Great battle report as always.
Thanks~! I'm glad you are enjoying them!
I was going to bed then saw this. First comment!
same! lets goooooooo
Keep making more!!!!! More I say!!!!!

Very nice! I loved this battle!
I'm happy you enjoyed it! More to come!
I'm surprised the House Corbyn player didn't shoot the bridge out from under the scouts.
I didn't think the bridge would last either, but I guess with limited shooting and so many targets, the player had to be very selective about shooting
Great batrep ✊🏻
Great match! It is hard to remove an entrenched force. The Cabras took significant losses for just a diversion. Round 5 fight! 😊
EXCELLENT!
Been following this campaign for a few months now and I've been loving it. I have a question, what sort of mat are you using?
I'm glad you're enjoying the battle reports! We are using mats made by PWorks. For urban, we just flip them over to the neoprene side
Not sure the league can keep up this war of attrition. But I guess I'll find out in the next few videos, lol
:O
Oh my gaah!

great battlereport!!!! Awesome job. but please please.. paint your bases ;)

Was this the first battle that the mercenaries outnumbered the nobles?

At some point, we are all new to a game. There is a bit of an experience gap. That is why it is a 2 vs 2 :)

I love these videos! I am so invested in the story.
Woooo! a new upload!
Awesome Video. Love this story format. Where did you get the buildings?
Most buildings are from Etsy vendors. Others are STLs purchased from MyMiniFactory and 3D printed at the local library
I like how the countryside maps always look like a World of Tanks game brought to life.
you guys don't do bonus damage for rear shots from those vehicles?
