I've been enthralled into the campaign for a while now, and have been debating on attempting something similar, as I am relatively new to Battletech. I love the series, and hope to see many more!
It is fun to play a campaign! We got our start in a Medieval fantasy game using TSR's Birthright setting. Each player were nobles from the same country that was about to have a civil war. In the end, there was only three battles and the game lasted 7 months or so. It was a ton of fun!
@@WargamerStoriesBirthright was so much fun! We used to play that all the time, back in the day. In fact a couple months ago I found a box set on Etsy and picked it up (I had lost my old one over the years).
Another rough battle for korbyn. The focus on a hated merc unit that's been a torn in thier side over a deadlier threat in clan tech is definitely on par for the bt universe. Love the story and narrative you are making and glad you are sharing. Invested in the outcome and if korbyn will get reinforcements in time or if they will lose a major hub.
Absolutely shocked the light lance stood still and didn't get obliterated. Still, a rough one for Korbyn, those Chupacabra reinforcements are really making things tough...
I know, right?! MechWarriors of light mechs have not faired well on neither side in this war... Imagine, you go through training. Then the big day comes for mech assignment... and it is a Locust. You just know your days are numbered. :)
Hell yeah always love waking up to see a new campaign mission! I've been loving this series so far, and the Chupacabras getting some really seriously heavy fire support from some Clan Stars has definitely upset things. Also yes, every time I've run a campaign I've made my players name their pilots and it instantly makes them attached to them. As soon as you mentioned Sadie Hughes I was instantly invested in Little Red's mechwarrior lol. I definitely love using pilot eject rules for the pilots too. rolling 2D6 on a 2-5 they die, 6-8 recovered but injured for 2 battles, 9-11 recovered and injured for 1 battle, and a 12 is a miraculous escape.
11:31 Y'know this is where the old school battletech rules might force something interesting, or at least make everyone stop once they ran out of ammo 😂
Seeing that many clan mechs on the field, I had an idea of how this battle was going to play out. The typical IS strategy of winning through weight of armor seems so much more difficult to pull off in Alpha Strike where getting hit at all means you're eating the full damage of your opponent's armaments!
True dat. Alpha Strike can be unforgiving, but much faster to play with large numbers. Taking a full alpha strike as opposed to a few missed shots hurts a whole bunch... :D
Love the graphics of the massive volleys of attacks between the two forces as they stood off and picked at each other! Epic! Even if it only amounted to small damage haha!
Ive been checking back in for weeks and just want to say i love this campaign and can't wait for more! Literally check everyday waiting to see the next video and what happens on the other front. Excited to see the next turn!!!!
Splendid story telling as always, even with how over half the turns went - it was still REALLY exciting to watch! Thank you again for the entertainment and keep up the good work! Cannot wait to see what happens next. And can we get an F in chat for the fallen in this battle? F.
Awesome as ever !. Looking forwards towards every new episode. Nothing as entertaining as this series and so well presented. Plas keep it up that way ❤
That's an awesome offer! As you can see, painting is not our strong suit. This is a project of passion. We do this for fun. Hang on to your mechs, you're gonna need them! Maybe when the Battle of Blue Hole is over, we could get something going. Maybe you can help design the next mercenary unit to do battle against the League or Vesper Marches! I am looking forward to the Mercenary Kickstarter delivery as well as the new publications coming out in September!
I cannot find the older battles on the channel, found the battle of emeraldstone by searching by name since it was mentioned here, but it doest appear on the channel or in the playlist :( Has comstar hidden it because it is star league lostech?
This made me laugh! But now, I am looking over my shoulder... :D As for the videos on the channel- it should be in playlist for BattleTech... unless, of course, Comstar is manipulating the algorithm ....
@@WargamerStories just 9 latest videos on your channel and in the playlist are visible to me, though I can find the battle of emeraldstone by searching for it specifically. I am in the Netherlands if that helps?
Yeah, it was a bit. It was an experiment to try out some optional rules... but with high stakes games, it causes the players to "turtle-up". In the end, we still have it, but we use smaller maps 4x4 instead of 4x6. I'm glad you're enjoying the channel! :)
When I first saw the skill level of the clan’s mechs, I thought something was off. Normal clan skill level was 3. Then I realized that they were most likely teenagers driving those mechs because all the grown up’s went to Terra for their khan. So imagine getting beat up by a bunch of teenagers.
Exactly! They were left behind because they were too young... and now, they are all that's left. Well-trained, Honor code, good discipline... but lacks experience.
That first half of the game was just ridiculous. That fire exchange over "No Man's Land". Bring Long-Toms for that kind of thing. Don't blame either side for not advancing whatsoever. I like how Korban pulled off the Hill to do a Lord Wellington move. I think they should have waited another turn to blast them at Medium-Range. Or even do what Welly did and wait for them to come over the Hill. But those Clan Mechs do a lot of damage. And very likely mission failure. As the Chubacobras I would have rushed forward initially when they dropped down behind the hill (Sprint Moved). Then formed up and blast the Korbans them if they came back over the top. Now House Korban has an interesting choice to make. Fight or Withdraw. If I was advising them, I would ask how valuable the city really was and determine the course of action to take then. Because it's the loss of a City (of unknown value to me) over a Battalion worth of troops. If they try at a Counter-Attack, it's best they try and get their best assets thrown against the damaged Chubacobras. Otherwise, I would just advise them to pull back. Because now they've got one spare Battalion to guard against anymore of those Deep-Strike attacks the Chubacobras have been pulling.
lol, you sound like my players debating about what to do next. After a battle, I have a shared text chat where I see what they (my players) are talking about... and it's usually full of "should have done this..." and "why did we do that?" But, it's part of the enjoyment... in the end, there will only be one winning side.
That's awesome! I am glad the game has got you thinking what would you do in their shoes! I love to read the comments of a fellow wargamer thinking and analyzing the battle!
I just make it up... just a few sentences to make the character unique. Generally about what the MechWarrior did before they joined the army/ mercenary unit. I tend to lean to the silly and goofy because my players like a good chuckle, so if you want to make a bio, make it appealing to your player. For example, one of the veterans failed clown school and decided to try something new... turns out being a MechWarrior was their true calling...
It sure sucks for all these rural little towns to be the battlefield all the time. Hun, the robots are back, call the kids back in and go hide in the cellar
That was a little lame of a battle report. Not because of you but because the actions of the players. I don't understand the inter mixing of IS and Clan mechs? Probably something that is more common and I am isolated from the "real" Battletech world.
Tamar Rising setting is sort of like the wild, wild west - where anything goes. It's the remnants of the collapsed occupation zone of Clan Jade Falcon that fell apart after their army was destroyed trying to take Earth. Alyina Mercantile League's backstory is interesting because it has a clan origin, but doesn't want to be part of the clan life any longer. It has a few very young clan warriors, but relies heavily on mercenaries for military strength. The odd nature of the sudden collapse and power vacuum of Tamar Rising setting makes for a very interesting place to have all sorts of battles with any and all mechs. A place where a bunch of micro-empires and warlords are battling over the scraps of the collapsed occupation zone.

House Corbin stumbled onto Napoleonic Reverse Slope tactics. Loving these reports!
It amazes me how the 7th Light Cavalry have become such a group of characters. I wonder if they have a more evocative name in their future.
Just started the video but,
LETS GO CHUPACABRAAAAS!!!
Use inferno lrms to get rid of the trees, swarm lrms for more chances to hit, or ask the DM for smoke artillery so you can push forward

This is not a game of two factions slugging it out
It's a game between the 7th light cav. v. The 9th medium battle lance
There's not much 9th Medium Battle Lance left
It speaks to how well you’ve set up this campaign that even a known trap is still essential!
